Shout out to Steve at this location! You were the best! He’s like a DMV jargon wizard who gets s$@t done where many others have failed! He made the seemingly arduous and borderline impossible a very meticulously achieved reality. Thorough and knowledgeable, sharp as a tack as well. A man of few words but has a dry sense of humor I most definitely appreciated. So, all in all, he is what made this location my absolute favorite DMV forever. Thank you, Steve! ?

If I could give this place zero stars, I would but unfortunately it’s not an option. This DMV either needs better employees or a better system with how they handle document request because I’ve been going back and forth with this location for two months and I still haven’t gotten my registration for my car. A few things about this DMV.

1. Don’t call the number. No one bothers to answer the phone and it’s all automated. By the time you get to the end of the automated message, it automatically hangs up. So if you were out of state and need to call the building about your registration, no one will pick up the phone.
2. Requesting for documents/ registering for a vehicle. As I stated before, Ive been going back and forth from Las Vegas to South Lake Tahoe for two months for my car’s registration. I had all the proper documents to register my car but I was told I needed the Title of my car. Here’s the thing, there is no need for the title because a). I’m still paying the car off and b). The dealer doesn’t provide that to you until you pay your car off. I had explained to the workers here and they kept asking for other documents that I had provided the previous time but hadn’t marked that it was provided.
3. The attitude absolutely sucks from the employees here. When speaking to them and explaining what we need to get, their response is treating you like you don’t know what you are talking about or speaking to you in a way an adult speaks to a toddler. You can tell they don’t like their job and yet, they choose to treat us customers with the ‘I really don’t care to help you’ attitude. When you provide the documents they ask, they question you about it before actually looking at what was provided to them. I was asked about the registration from Nevada and I provided it to the lady. Here’s a little background info, I registered my car with girlfriend so her name is on the registration. So, when I gave my Nevada registration to the lady, she automatically questioned if I was my girlfriend before really looking to see my name is under the registration as well. They are so quick to dismiss you before you can give them a chance to show what they looked over.

This place overall sucks and needs an upgrade of their employee’s attitude. Won’t ever recommend doing this again.

People are passing their drivers test after getting in line an hour and a half after the ID people. Won’t tell us if we’re going to be waiting until close or not.

Recently got my ID here. The waits can be long but it's all about timing. I went through the ID process in about 30 minutes. The staff were very kind to me, but when my brother and I went in about registration of a new vehicle, they didn't resolve any questions we had properly. They maybe kind but not helpful at all. They didn't point us in any direction but a temporary paid solution. Then after further research online we were able to find a cheaper solution that made more sense. We then went back and they accepted our resolution. Needs more experienced people in terms of letting people know what they can do there and how to go about it.

Literally across the street from lake Tahoe... You can enjoy the views if you have to wait. In my case it was just waiting for them to open.

I tried calling for 30 minutes and couldn’t get anyone to pick up while I’m calling to check about my permit that I’ve been waiting to get to me for a month and a half and still have nothing. I feel like they should be able to put people on hold so they can still get to them instead of the call just ending. There are things that cannot be done without one of their team members and for no one to pick up for 30 minutes 2 hours before they close is unacceptable.

I’ve always had swift and easy experiences here. Get a reservation and they’ll help you out promptly and send you on your way. CA DMV used to be a nightmare; have made big strides in customer service in the last 20 years. Much appreciated.
