I'll preface this by saying I don't like leaving this type review as I've been practicing medicine for 25 years. We've been going here for 13 years now and always had a good experience...until this week. Bring our dog in for a steroid shot about every 4-6 months for dermatitis. Wife and I are both in medicine and had to have our 17 yo bring him in this time. The bill was 3x normal, almost $600. Multiple things added to the bill that were never medically necessary. The added expense costs were not mentioned to our son though it showed up in the documentation--I'm keenly aware that occurs in adult and pediatric medicine too as a safeguard for they said-we said scenarios like this. When I questioned the bill and added treatments, I was advised the next time to not have a teenager with no authorization abilities bring in our dog.
So, short-term gain by the practice is now a long-term loss as we'll find another provider. Something has negatively changed in the way they're conducting business after over a decade as a patient family.

Extremely unprofessional and corporate. We have three dogs one that is my daughter's dog. She chose Dakota Ridge VCA against our recommendation to treat her dog. Our daughter is traveling and asked if we could watch her dog and take her for this follow-up appointment on vaccines which should take approximately 5 minutes. This clinic is well aware of the anxiety the dog has for attending a vet appointment and prescribed Trazodone to give ahead of time for the appointment He had a 5:15 appoinent and unfortunately On the way over we hit traffic. I called and advised that would be five minutes late It ended up we arrived at 5 30. They refused to see him and worse they refused even come.out to speak withe. This follow-up shotwould have taken approximately 5 minutes. No one would even come to the front to speak with us and forced the kind lady at the reception desk to deal with and manage this uncomfortable and upsetting situation. if you are looking for a very corporate Walmart type vet for you family pet this is the place for you, if you care about your pet and wants a vet that actually cares about your pet then I would recommend finding an alternative solution. Littleton s Chatfield Veterinary Hospital would be my tecomendation. I understand being late for a vet appointment by 15 minutes can disrupt the schedule however to know a dog that has high anxiety and has been sedated turned away for a 5 minute shot update is really awful. To have no one in authority to come speak with you shows how unimportant you or your pet is. Please share this on Next Door, Facebook, Gram, and share with friends. Amazing Vet. Take your pet here. They are the best. I can’t believe I found another vet who loves my dog as much as I do. They did everything. Perfectly. Matched all his meds to his old scripts and were extremely kind and generous. Accommodating, friendly, patient, while diligently taking care of each and every of my dogs needs. Cannot say enough to commend these guys they kick butt thank you VCA Dakota Ridge, you rock!!!

Always exceeds our expectations. We've been coming here for three years for our cat's routine care. As soon as we arrive, they take us into a private exam room, which is so helpful when you have a nervous/anxious cat (no sharing a waiting room with loud barking dogs). I've never interacted with nicer front desk staff than I have here. They go the extra mile to make you & your pet feel welcomed, comfortable, and informed. You can tell they really love animals and take pride in their work. Dr. Sarah Christiansen is wonderful with our cat and always takes the time to answer any questions we have.

Last year my dog Luna was having some issues where she was peeing blood. I called around several vet offices and was unable to get her seen anywhere. When I called VCA they told me to bring her in and she was seen immediately. The entire staff was so kind and caring and really put Luna at ease while she was there.

Dr Christianson and her staff are knowledgeable and compassionate, and provided excellent care to my anxious cat. I never felt like they were rushing through the visit, and instead was invited to ask questions and thoroughly discuss care options. I switched to this clinic on recommendation from a friend after having negative experiences at two other, highly rated, area vets and I’m so glad I did. I highly recommend VCA Dakota Ridge if your priority is compassionate and thorough care for your pet.
