We had to bring our dog here for extreme vestibular issues on an emergency visit. We had let her go on to long and it was time to say goodbye.

VCA was very empathetic and understanding about the entire process. They have a separate "comfort" room where you can spend final moments with your pet, filled with treats and Kleenex. Your dog gets all the treats and you get all the kleenex.

I think they learned from other feedback. They asked us if we'd like to pay for services before they euthanized our dog. Do that.

We were able to say goodbye and head out to the car in tears.

Our experience with the ER last night was suboptimal. We were given a place in line (#1) upon check in. No others entering the lobby and we waited over an hour to even be seen by someone medically trained during what seemed like a fairly urgent issue (bloody stool). Difficult to assign pets an order (of urgency) when you have not even put eyes on the pet to triage. If there are more urgent cases being seen in the back then perhaps my number should have been 16. I also should have been notified of the long wait time in order to make an informed decision about whether or not I wanted to seek care elsewhere. A far cry from my earlier experience with this location unfortunately and undermines my confidence in the care we will receive here.

I took my cat in when he was experiencing severe stomach issues. I felt really frantic and anxious coming in (as anyone would), and the VCA team really helped keep me at ease. Dr. Najafi was my cat's initial ER doctor, and she calmly and concisely explained the symptoms, treatment, and way forward. At no point was there ambiguity or uncertainty about my cat's condition or methods to diagnose him. She even contacted me at the end of her shift to update me on his current condition and when I'd be contacted next!

The day staff was no different. Everyone I met was incredibly kind and supportive throughout the whole process. I felt like everyone had a vested interest in my cat's health -- from the people working at the front desk, aids, doctors, and even the vet students shadowing. My cat is on the path to full recovery now, and I don't think it would be without the care and consistency of this team!

I especially want to shout-out the kind woman working at the front desk that gave me water and a coloring book to keep my mind off of things while I waited. I don't even think she knew how much that helped me.

This place is well worth the fairly high priced but excellent treatment and well being of animals. The staff is friendly and efficient. I especially want to recognize the front desk receptionist Jessica B.
for her professionalism, her overall friendliness and for explaining every process in great detail. My dog has surgery today, I know it will go well because he is in the caring hands of the staff here. Thanks VCA Alameda East!

I have seen ER doctors, an internal medicine specialist, and a neurologist, Dr. Kopf. I have been very pleased every time! I drive quite a ways to get to VCA east, but it's worth it. Dr. Kopf always takes her time with my dog, listens to my concerns and never acts judgemental. She puts Mollie at ease and examines her thoroughly. The other doctors we have seen have also shown a high level of professionalism and kindness. I am very pleased with the care we receive.
