One month ago we adopted Mr. Mittens (I call him Kitten Mittens ?). Riverdale provided us with very detailed information on Mitten's background and they were very professional. I am so grateful for Kitten Mittens. He was really shy and scared at first but now he's such a good friend. He's super sweet and cuddly. We are so fortunate to have Riverdale nearby!

I had such a great experience when adopting my newest dog. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and the facility is one of the best I've seen. Hazel (the gray one - formally Smurfette) has been a wonderful addition to the family and we couldn't be happier.

This shelter is doing such great things. The staff here genuinely care for their animals and provide them a safe home while they find a permanent one. They go to great lengths to make sure their animals are being sent to a home that will be a good fit for them. I'm so glad they do that. I adopted my new dog, Bruno-Mars, yesterday after he had spent nearly a full year with them. He is such a sweet boy and has good behavior. I can't believe nobody else wanted him. Regardless, the team at Riverdale Animal Shelter took great care of him, and I'm so happy they did.

I always have a hard time going into shelters because they break my heart… the pins, the noises and I expected the same going into the Riverdale Shelter. But I was so wrong! The new facility is beautiful & the space that these animals have is incredible! This has been the best, most well kept shelter I’ve been to.

I adopted my husky mix *Keela the day I visited. And I have to say, Keela has changed my life. She’s the most gentle, loving dog I’ve ever encountered. When I adopted her some of the staff members came to say goodbye to her & shed some tears. These people love their animals and their passion just beamed through! We just adopted the cutest pit bull today. What a great experience! Would highly recommend this shelter if you are looking for a dog. They had great information on all of their dogs and helped us avoid picking dogs that would not have been a good fit for our family. We brought our dogs down to meet the new dog just to make sure she was a good fit for us. Great shelter! Thank you!!

I drove an hour over to this animal shelter because I found a dog. I really liked I wanted to make sure they would take my military ID and it took them quite some time to get back to me about my ID before I drove all the way over there and 20 minutes before I had got there they had called me to let me know everything was good to go. I get there and the dog that I went to adopt. gets adopted by some other family… terrible customer service and barely even an apology for making me drive all the way over there for nothing. I could not find another dog that would fit into our family. I cried in the parking lot for 20 minutes as my daughter and I had my heart set on the dog.
