Jackie Ventura - First Pet Vet Emergency got me in right away with my little dog. All of their staff is very kind and professional. I highly recommend them for your pet emergencies.

1st PET should not be on anyones list for adequate VETERINARY CARE. They had 3 years to provide care to my puppy and 2 months after his last appointment with them in 2020, he was diagnosed with lymphatic STAGE 3 CANCER, I had to put him to sleep 1 month later. They could have told me about the veterinary CANCER HOSPITAL in the same town but that was nit on their list of important information.

Dog got a gash and needed stitches: Came in at 6:30pm and waited for 5 hours in the exam room for a doctor, only to find out that we did in fact need stitches. Surprise! And that we’d need to wait another 3-4 hours for enough nurses to come in for her “procedure”. Not sure how many doctors and nurses you need for a few stitches but these people don’t care for your time and will jerk you around without disclosing important information that would make you go elsewhere. They kept claiming additional emergencies were coming in despite no sign of any activity at the only entrance to the office. Their office staff’s goal seems to be to make you wait until you have no other choice but to stay and the doctors simultaneously don’t care at all about your time. Avoid this place if you can, though as they seem to know, they are the only ones available in the area for 24/7 emergencies and will take advantage of your love for your pet to make as much money off of you for as little effort on their part. Worse than a crooked mechanic shop.

Update: Quoted $800-$900 for stitches after waiting 9 hours. Don’t have any other choice now without risking additional scarring and discomfort for our dog. Don’t let them get you like this.

Horrible experience here.
We brought our pup in for lethargy, vomiting, and lack of eating. We were going to have X-rays done and follow up with blood work if needed. It took these people 9 hours to call me back with the results (after us calling 5 times to check in). Turns out my dog had swallowed what they thought was a rock and would need surgery to remove it because it was “highly unlikely that it would pass naturally.” They quoted me an INSANE $10,000 for this surgery and of course wanted me to pay for an overnight fee because they couldn’t possibly do the surgery that day (at this point he’d been there for 12 hours). The vet was extremely unprofessional, saying that she was trying her best but was tired and only had one meal that day basically excusing her poor quality of care. She was rude and admitted that my dog had not received any food, fluids, or gone to the bathroom that day.

I decided to take him home for the night and bring him somewhere else in the morning since he’d just be locked in a cage. Literally within 2 minutes of being home, we take pup outside and he poops out a small piece of a plastic toy. MIRACULOUSLY this was the “rock” that they had found and he instantly felt relief. Thank god I took him away from this dumpster before going through with the surgery. Just AWFUL.

I have never met a more genuine and amazing vet staff in my life. This was the first time I had to bring my puppy Biscuit to the vet, and it was at night, which made it a little more difficult and alarming. From the moment I walked in, to the moment I left everyone was so gentle and kind.

They were able to retrieve what he swallowed and I am grateful! Biscuit left smiling with his tail wagging.

Thank you all!!!

We brought our 75 lb lab there in the middle of the night and they were waiting for us in the lobby with a gurney and brought her back right away. Unfortunately it was time for our beloved pet to pass on, but they were so compassionate and patient. They were honest and had fair pricing, they allowed my child to sit in the waiting room (she didn’t want to see the end) and brought her snacks, they explained everything in the process, and everyone was professional and caring. 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone experiencing a pet emergency.

I’m writing this as I sit here with my beloved dog Buddy dying next to me. This place didn’t kill him. He had a bad reaction to medication.

The reason for my review is simple. I feel taken advantage of by this place. We brought him in as a last resort, fully prepared that he would die soon, based on imagine done by our regular vet. We came to confirm this so we could proceed with euthanasia before his kidney issues got any worse.

By the time they were done, they convinced me that he could be saved and needed to be admitted. Two days later, he’s in worse shape than when we started. We were billed nearly 7000 dollars to keep him, run tests, and put in a feeding line.

Once we saw his condition it was clear he would not survive much longer. Yet the doctor who came in told us at first that all he needed was to eat, and he should pull through. One last bit of false hope. Not 5 minutes later she returned and offered us the option of putting him down in their office. Apparently she hadn’t even bothered to look at him before giving us the original prognosis.

We were left sitting in the waiting room after a tech carried him back to remove the tube, and failed to hold him carefully. I had to ask the receptionist twice to get someone to hurry up and return him to us, before he died there. We planned on home euthanasia and didn’t want him dying in a strange medical building.

I’m not blaming them for his death, but I feel that they took us for every cent they could based on providing us false hope. And to add insult to injury we were charged 150 dollars for meds that we said several times he would be unable to take as he wasn’t interested in eating. We explained we already had pain meds in liquid form and didn’t need anything else.

I’m heartbroken about this and the vet did nothing but give me a huge credit card bill to stress over, simply because I love my dog and thought they would help him. Because that’s what they told me.

Wow this is a racket. I'm being charged for a follow up appointment of $95. She said because it was an emergency. I said I had an appointment and she said no because it's an emergency. They also want to charge up to $2500 for dental disease. They are making hand over fist this isn't what it's all about. Yuck. Avoid, avoid, avoid. I went here because it's in my community and believe in doing business in the city I live but wow unbelievable.
