I recently had the opportunity to visit Bethesda Butler Hospital, and I must share my experience, which unfortunately was not great.

First and foremost, the long wait times were frustrating. I understand that hospitals can get busy, but waiting for what felt like an eternity for both staff and doctors was taxing, especially when patients are often already feeling unwell. When I finally did see the doctor, I was disappointed by how little time was spent with me. It felt rushed, and I left feeling that my concerns were not fully addressed.

Adding to this disappointment was the demeanor of several staff members. There were moments when the staff appeared dismissive, which is concerning for patients seeking help. A little compassion goes a long way, and it would have made a substantial difference in my experience.

On a more practical note, the cleanliness of the waiting rooms left something to be desired. A clean environment is crucial for any healthcare facility, as it helps to instill confidence in the care being provided. Unfortunately, the waiting area felt neglected, further adding to the overall unpleasant atmosphere.

That said, I do want to highlight the front desk staff, who were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. They made the check-in process relatively smooth amidst the chaos, and their kindness was appreciated.

Lastly, a word of caution regarding the hospital’s parking lot: it can be quite dangerous. The speed at which some drivers navigate the area is alarming, and it seems that a lack of attention to pedestrians is a real concern. It’s essential for improvements to be made in this regard to ensure the safety of all visitors.

In conclusion, while Bethesda Butler Hospital has potential, significant improvements are needed in terms of wait times, staff interactions, cleanliness, and parking safety. I hope the administration takes these aspects seriously to enhance the experience for future patients.

Staff was friendly and nurses took good care of me. Just wished they would have done things a little differently to help me better with what was going on.

This waiting room ER was like a third world country. My mother had hip replacement surgery a week ago. They gave her a wrist ban that says fall risk. She was experiencing extreme nausea, dehydration and pain. She could barely sit in the wheelchair. I thought it must not be good for her new hip to sit like this and explained this to the nursing staff. I asked for a bed to have in the waiting room. They refused and suggested she lay on the dirty floor. She is post surgery and could get an infection very easily! I had to ask for a sheet and pillow. They were not doing their best or if it’s their best they should revise who they hire. There were some very nice gentleman who went to Walmart and purchased a pillow topper for her to lay on. These men had more common sense and morals than the staff. It was ridiculous and disturbing. When I left I saw 3 beds in a hall way empty clean. Weird place. She was screaming in pain the whole time.
Once we got back there the nurse, Jessica, was awesome. And the dr was nice too.

This hospital fraudulently billed my insurance for someone else with my daughters name and birthday in a different state. The claim wiped out my medical savings. I have contacted them and my insurance provider for 7 months and Can not get my money back. The hospital had acknowledged wrongdoing, but will not pay me back. I have had to postpone medical procedures and suffer in pain due to them having my funds. I have contacted both repeatedly with no success. I am now having to seek legal help to sue. AVOID THIS HOSPITAL.

I am not personally sure why this hospital only has an average 3 star rating. I have brought 2 different friends at 2 different times for 2 different emergencies. They were in 2 totally different states of consciousness and lucidity l, one handling theyr own check in and the other requiring me to talk for him. Either way, they both were taken into the back to theyr rooms within minutes and the staff began treating them immediately.

I mention that because-any other time I have experienced hospitals or emergency rooms in America (for myself or otherwise)...no matter how severe the health issues, the patient had to wait half an hour up to THREE AGONIZING HOURS while SUFFERING FROM SEVERE WOUNDS AND SUCH.

It made me believe they must not care at all. And the fact that it's always insurance personal that comes to see them first when they make it to theyr rooms and not someone who is going to help them, that makes it even worse.
Anyway, this Tri Health is the opposite. It's obvious they are patient first and money second. 5 stars well earned. Thank you for sticking to the healers code.

Edit:: Update Review 2019
Another visit, another good experience. Just an update to the review I wrote when I was here last year.
This is a great ER. I've been in enough to know as I've been chronically ill my entire adult life. This one, you're a human being, not a number or an insurance share the wealth card.
Seriously, great ER.
I hope you never need one, but if you do, you can't go wrong with this one.

Original Review:: 2018
Best ER visit I have ever had. I've had a lot of them too. Reception went quickly and smoothly. I waited only ten minutes before my nurse, Paul came to take me to a room to be seen. All medical information was confirmed. He was funny, friendly, and 100% professional. Paul is a top notch nurse. Dr. Wilcox was thorough and intelligent while also being approchable and friendly. I'm having surgery in 9 days and it was imperative that my infection be handled immediately. Paul and Dr. Wilcox addressed every concern.
I was also provided with a very extensive and thorough list of resources for follow up care that addressed all concerns and even answered questions I did not think to ask at the time.
Paul even told me where to find a pharmacy that not only accepted my insurance, but was still open that late at night on the day before Thanksgiving.
I forgot my jacket, Paul made sure that was returned to me before I made it to my car.
Absolutely the best care I have ever recieved at ANY Emergency Room ever.
My infection is very painful, and that was acknowledged and addressed without any of the "normal drug seeker eyeroll" treatment. I recieved excellent pain management. I see other reviews here that state otherwise, but my experience was very different as my pain was acknowledged and addressed in a thoughtful and caring manner. When they asked me if I'd like a bit more help with pain management I said yes please, in complete surprise as I fully expected to not have that issue addressed at all. The infection was causing the pain and the pain would obviously reduce in a day or two with the antibiotics.
I was given my bottle of pain relief to take with me, label on bottle, and received my first dose of antibiotics before being released. That was something very thoughtful that I've not experienced in an ER in over 20 years.
I was treated like a human being by the ENTIRE staff.
I definitely recommend this facility and will return whenever I need emergency medical care.
My entire visit, from walking in the door to walking out to my car was less than an hour. Amazing.
