When my dog Rocky's primary vet put a referral in with Heart of Texas it was done so seeking answers to what was causing his sudden loss of weight and increased liver enzymes. Unfortunately due to appointments being filled already his appointment wasn't scheduled until mid September. The time of his referral was placed in July and I had just lost my oldest dog Luna in June. So to say my nerves were shot would be an understatement. I scheduled Rocky's appointment with the reassurance that if anything opened up before his appointment I would get a call.

Sadly with time passing Rocky's symptoms worsened and he was losing weight quicker. During this time the staff at Heart of Texas continued to check in and try to find a time Rocky could come in eariler. After a bad experience at another specialty vet Heart of Texas was able to move some appointments around to get him seen much sooner due to his worsening symptoms.

After his first appointment with the doctor I was given the heartbreaking news it was cancer. After just losing Luna I felt the room was spining with the news and my world was crashing. The doctor and staff were kind and understanding as I grasped to understand their words and accept this was happening to my once very happy boy.

We started chemo to give my boy a fighting chance, for more time, for more snuggles and "I love you Rocky". To our dismay the medication was hard on him causing other issues for him. Rocky was coming to the end of his battle that up until a month and half prior I didn't know he was having. Myself, my husband and my mother cried on the floor holding Rocky as the doctor sweetly but bluntly told us our options but that in the end Rocky had a few days left.

We took him home.

Without the staff at Heart of Texas checking in and making so many accommodations I think my sweet boy would have passed sooner and us without any knowledge of what was taking our boy away.

They never got to see my handsome boy as he was, so attached is a few pictures of my Rock Rock as he was all the time. Happy and loving life.

Thank you for caring for my dog for the brief time you did as his primary vet always did.

Exceptionally caring and compassionate.
I took my little chihuahua in a very critical condition, they immediately stabilized her. The nurse and doctor were very honest and informed me of everything that could happen with my dog. She was suffering so I decided to euthanize her. The staff was very supportive, genuinely compassionate, and caring. I couldn’t have chosen a better place to bring her. I’m so grateful for them.

I would like to complain about the quality of the hospital services here and the attitude of the staff towards dying animals.
I came to this hospital because my dog suddenly became ill and the next day, I had to face my dog who was on the verge of death.
How do you want to spend the last days of your dog's life? Don't you want to at least entrust the dog you love to a hospital that can care for the dog with courtesy, respect for life, and warm hands? If so, this hospital will never be the place to go. Avoid it!!!
The purpose of this hospital is to use your love for your dog to enrich their pocket.
They contacted me and told me my dog was not doing well and in a lot of pain. So they asked me to come quickly and when I arrived , they took me to the inpatient treatment room. It was a really, really filthy place and my dog was sitting on a dirty cloth that I couldn't tell if it was a rag or a towel.
She had pooped and her butt was covered in poop. Before long, a woman (I remember her face clearly, this devil-like woman) cruelly took out with no caution, and placed her on a table, wiped her buttocks with thick pieces of paper towels. She roughly rubbed the dog's buttocks without any care.
This shocking behavior made me determined to get my dog out of there as soon as possible. I told the doctor I was going to take the dog back home, but he was against it and insisted that we leave it for two or three more hours, so I had no choice but to comply because my dog was in so much pain. At that time, there was only a little hope that she could be saved. Two hours later, when I came to pick her up, she called me into her room and gave me an armful of medicine. As I received the medicine, I had great hope for a moment that I could treat my dog with these medicines. But it was very brief hope and when she brought the dog, my dog was not in the same state as I had seen two hours ago, but was in such a state that she couldn't even breathe properly and couldn't hold her head up. I hurried home and tried to give my dog the medicine, but the only medicine to be given that day was a painkiller, and the remaining medicines were all medicines that could only be given the next day after the dog had recovered to some extent.
I paid $3286.86 for one day of hospitalization. That included the cost of estimated medication, and they charged an additional $96.21. They asked for additional money for an armful of medicine to feed my dog the next day, but the doctor said she only had one or two hours left to live.
Would you entrust your dog's life to these greedy minded people who have no sympathy for a dying dog?
Don't you think our pets have noticed that with a sentence of hopelessness, they are too busy calculating the amount of money they will fill their pockets with?
I am so sad. I feel like I haven't received even the slightest respect for life and the minimal consideration for the family that has lived with the pet as a family member for more than 15 years.
I know. They'll leave a response saying they are so sorry and that they did their best and hope you feel better. I also read the reviews before experiencing this at this hospital. I knew what they did. Don't ignore the reviews of those who experienced it. You could live with a scar in your heart for the rest of your life like me.
Remember, female staff, when my dying dog was covered in feces, your annoyance and carelessness, as well as lack of desire to save life as you stood next to dying dog on the table and roughly wiped her buttocks without care for the dog. There was not even 1% of consideration for the family of the dog. As you have no desire to care or save the lives of these pets, I truly hope that you change your career.

When asked that there was no more hope and how long she could live, the doctor answered couple hours. Then, they sold medicine and food that could be given starting the next day, and even liver supplements. Do these people have any conscience?

On 10/19/24, I woke up to my chihuahua giving birth. Unfortunately, the first puppy did not make it and my dog was not able to push out her remaining 3 babies. I went to the first emergency vet clinic and it was way out of budget for the c section and I had to drive another 40 minutes to get there. I proceeded to find other nearby locations, but none of them were equipped to conduct the surgery. I called Heart of Texas Veterinary Clinic and sent them the x rays I received from the first one. Luckily they were across the street! The moment I arrived, I was greeted by the receptionist and they were so thorough and caring for my baby girl. They got me in the room immediately and the tech and doctor came in within a few minutes to run some test on my dog. They explained everything so well and told me they had high hopes for her. Well, she came back with the rest of her puppies, instructions on how to care for her, a refund because I overpaid, and answered all of my follow up questions, even my dumb ones. I just wanted to say how grateful I am to Heart of Texas Veterinary Clinic for providing me peace and a high level of service. Thank you so much Dr. Edwards for taking great care of my baby and treating me with the utmost respect. I’ve never felt so calm in an emergency surgery and it’s all thanks to you and your team. I hope this review gets to you and I’m going to recommend everyone I know to your clinic. This will be posted on all of my social media. Words cannot explain how relieved and thankful I am for all of you. I know I can trust your team and will be going to you guys from here on out. Thank you again and God bless you all!

heart of texas was phenomenal! all the girls here were amazing, the communication was 10/10 - phone calls & texts! they had a sense of urgency when it came to my baby and were quick to get him on the schedule for surgery. they took extra measures once a heart murmur was found, making sure my baby was okay to go under anesthesia. they answered all my questions and provided great care for my dog everytime he came in. he has bad anxiety when it comes to vets and this is the first place he was not very anxious in! he warmed up to the staff quite quickly and it was very surprising but relieving for me. huge thank you to the oral surgeon and all the girls for taking care of my baby and providing him a safe treatment plan to recovery! he loved you guys.

Literally saved my Danes life. DR Coffee was super transparent. Clinic workers Megan n James helped me navigate a nightmare..low cost Clinic would have killed my dog, but Heart of Texas saved her life..The clinician brought in (Adam from out of state) helped stabilize her. We checked out officially today, Mouse loved the ones who advocated for her..They know who they are n we will forever be grateful!

Very kind and compassionate people during a very emotional visit. They took amazing care of my sweet Harlee and got her as comfortable as possible to give us a little more time. Our vet tech was kind and reassuring of our choices and made the process as seamless as it could be. The vet spoke with us and gave us the answers and closure we needed to let her go peacefully. The memory keepsakes they offer are beautiful. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone but I’d highly recommend heart of Texas to anyone that finds themselves in a similar situation.
