I went in for a biopsy with Dr. Escalona , and I left feeling frustrated, upset, and completely unheard. From the moment I walked into the office, the doctor’s demeanor was cold and dismissive, like they had somewhere else they’d rather be. There was no compassion, no effort to make me feel comfortable about the procedure, and certainly no understanding of the anxiety that comes with something as serious as a biopsy.

Instead of taking time to explain what was happening or ease my concerns, the doctor rushed through everything, pushing me toward getting an IUD as if it was the only option. They were almost forcing me to make a decision on whether I wanted to have children, which is deeply personal and something I wasn’t ready to address on the spot. It felt like my concerns and feelings didn’t matter at all.

What should have been a delicate and supportive discussion turned into a cold, mechanical interaction where I felt like just another patient on a checklist. I left the office not only upset about the biopsy, but also feeling pressured and disregarded. I wouldn’t recommend this doctor to anyone seeking real care or empathy—just someone looking to push through appointments as quickly as possible.

I’m a high risk pregnancy, and I’m 16wks pregnant. I requested a transfer a month ago, because I want to have my baby at St. Joseph instead of the county. I been calling within the past month, and just getting the run around, and did as they ask, and they still haven’t gotten back to me not even the manager to schedule me. I went down in person and all to get an update, and they keep saying the same thing that there waiting for medical records when they have received them already. I feel like they keep pushing me off so than they can say I’m to far along to go under there care smh. When they can just tell me professionally that they don’t want to accept me, and I can go else where and not waist either of our time! Common sense. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all, there’s no customer service skills, poor management etc. They’re just there to get there money, and go home. There’s no care. However, when I called there Lodi office they scheduled me right away!! I’m not sure how that location is yet, but it seems way more professional than the Stockton office so ladies I would suggest you don’t waist your time here, save yourself the headache.

I received a text message stating to check in via this link when I arrive into the lobby I did so about 15 minutes later I was called up to the front window and was told that the app does not check you in and you were almost late. How was I supposed to know that why wasn’t that told to me? Also why do you have a text sending to patient saying to check in if it doesn’t work make it make sense. Second was told can I please have your insurance card and ID? I’m trying to pull up my insurance card on my phone. They do not take digital insurance cards I was told. Do you have a way to print it out? Why ask a question like that? Do you think I have a printer in my car or something? No, I can’t print it out so can I email it to you like everyone else? No because we don’t have a secure email. I don’t care about that. I just want to see the doctor. Honestly, the customer service alone would make me never want to return there and it’s making me frustrated even more as I’m writing this out about the lack of customer service From the receptionist as a whole. Absolutely the worst experience ever. If you hate your job say that and find something else.

I have seen every doctor at this location during this pregnancy and I have loved every one of them! The girls at check-in are also nice and welcoming.

I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND to come to this location. Gill OBGYN has 2 locations, one here and in Lodi. Prior to coming here, I called in advanced to ask if they would accept me since I am 27 weeks right now. I moved here about a month ago. I was being seen by an OB in my old county. They told me to come in and sign a medical release form, that way they can obtain all prenatal records. They also mentioned that they accept patients up until 32 weeks. I was relieved that I finally found an OB. I showed up to Stockton location, waited in line, stood there for a good minute as the 3 front desk workers were just talking. No one was behind or in front of me, I purposely stood up closer so they can call me up. I told them what i came for. They said “how far along are you?” I answered and they all looked at each other and asked each other. Then replied “We don’t accept you because you’re too far along. By the time we get your records you’ll be due”. My blood was boiling! I told them that’s not what I was told on the phone. If you guys are saying that, does that same thing apply to Lodi location? She said “well that’s wrong, Lodi won’t take you either”. I left with a paper of random family clinics that they told me to try. Once I got home, I gave them one more chance, I called the Lodi location and told them everything that happened. They were confused as to why Stockton location said that. They kindly took me in and allowed me to sign the paper and continue the procedure. Never go to this Stockton location, the workers and customer service is below a 1 star. I wish I took down names to report for giving false information.

8/19/24 I would give zero stars if possible!! Dr. Hombalegow is incompetent with communications, and the front desk clerk lied. In july, I sent in for a refill of my med. By august 7th The pharmacy told me they had not replied, so I called. The person who answered told me the prescription was faxed that day. Now august 19th and still no prescription, so I called again. The doctor's assistant told me the Doctor let the pharmacy know she wants to see me before I get medication. Why on earth would she let the pharmacist know and not the patient This is beyond common sense!!!!

I want to give a better review because the doctors are good, but the messaging system sucks! I have been trying to get a message to my doctor for 3 weeks now and NO ONE calls me back. Even their new Healow app system of messaging is ineffective. I am seriously considering finding a new gynecology office in Stockton.

If you are pregnant and thinking about going here I highly recommend Dr. James Maganito and Dr. Russel. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DR.GOWDA, she was rude and unprofessional. I had told her I wanted a vbac and when I saw her for a rescheduled appointment she wanted to schedule a c section for that following Tuesday when I wasn’t even near my due date. She wanted to cause fear and really wanted to push a c section and told me she would not deliever my baby and walked out leaving me with the gel on my hands. My friend also told me Dr.Gowda had wanted to induce her 2 weeks before her due date for no good reason, my friend ended up delivering her healthy baby boy without any complications , inductions , epidural ,etc.I will not forget how she also asked if I wanted a dead baby!! I understand there’s risk with a vbac but obviously that’s why you’re at a hospital. I met Dr.James who agreed to do a vbac /induction and he was super informative , nice , very professional ,and explained everything so well. I ended up having a successful vbac with Dr.Russel.🙏🏼

My experience at the beginning with this group was not the best under Dr. Gowda's care, I'd avoid being scheduled with her however after having Dr.Pennisi take over my care he quickly changed my mind. I ultimately delivered with Dr.Maganeto and he did phenomenally, my c section recovery was much more gentle than my previous 2. I'm so grateful to these two Dr's for taking such good care of my baby and I.
I'm done having kids but I would recommend these two to anyone thats not.
My only recommendation to the group as a whole would be have a better alerting system for NST's, my baby's heart beat dropped during one which is what led to my delivery at 35 weeks and no one heard the machine going off for over 8 mins while I panicked, there should be better monitoring not in the storage office and try a recliner not a medical table for that type of testing.
