The other day, I brought in my sweet girl Molly. The doctor was amazing, not pushing for unnecessary treatments at her stage of life, and in the end, I know I made the best decision to let her gain her wings. They were very caring and loving with her.

These people are some of the most compassionate and professional vets I’ve met. I went there because my cat wasn’t walking, but was wriggling around the floor, yowling in pain, and having trouble breathing. I called ahead and they said to bring him right away.

Once I got there, they immediately whisked Charlie (my cat) away to be examined. I was led into a room where the vet gave me the bad news that he had lost use of his legs, had a heart disease that went undetected, a blood clot, and fluid in his lungs. Even if I had them do everything they could so I could take him home, his quality of life would have been awful and his life expectancy would’ve been maybe a year.

The vet was calm, professional, and explained everything in precise detail for me. Answering any question I had, and didn’t judge me as I cried. Both the vet and I agreed to put him down.

Once that decision was made, I was led into a separate room so I could say goodbye. The room itself was calming, had comfortable couches, and a serene atmosphere. You could tell it was for this very purpose. All the staff was attentive and respectful through the whole ordeal.

It was so so hard to say goodbye. None of the staff rushed me. All of them were so understanding. When he finally crossed the rainbow bridge, the vet gave me more time for final goodbyes (once again never rushing).

I can never thank them enough for trying to make the whole ordeal easier on me. I know it’s not easy for them either. I could tell the vet wanted to give me better news, to be able to give my baby boy the quality of life he had before. And just knowing he felt for me, empathized with me, helped me feel less alone in my decision. Thank you.

Our experience was 100% positive with the knowledgeable and caring team here. Brought our boy Baxter in to them a few weeks ago. They saw us more quickly than the wait time they initially told us, they treated both of us - pet and human - with respect and care. We visited them again a few weeks later and had a second, very good experience. Doctor was intelligent and kind.

Though cost shouldn't be a consideration in these interactions, I was very happily surprised with how affordable our visits were, especially compared to what we pay at our regular/home vet here in Sonoma County.

Watching them interact with the many clients coming in and out of their doors, each staff member was consistently helpful and compassionate in their interactions.

This happened about three years ago. I didn't think to write a review then, but felt compelled to do so now. I came to this location at 5AM after my cat, Peanut, started howling in pain and couldn't move. The vet there informed me that my cat had an inflammatory disease in his urethra which was causing extreme pain and was preventing him from urinating, followed by telling me that it would cost $2,500 for the surgery to fix the problem. When I, through tears, informed them that there was no way I could afford that, they had the audacity to suggest that I give up my pet to someone else who could afford the surgery.

We agreed to drain his bladder and then I would call around that morning to find a cheaper option elsewhere. They then demanded $600 up front just to drain my cat's bladder, which I had no choice but to pay. No payment plans, nothing, just the full payment right then and there. It was either that or my cat suffered. I ended up getting help from the Humane Society in Sebastopol, who charged the same amount ($600 or so) for the bladder draining, full surgery and meds to care for him afterward and even assisted me in applying for CareCredit to pay for it all. He is a now thriving and healthy cat.

I refuse to believe anything other than this, that this hospital takes advantage of a pet owner's love for their pet in the interest of profit. The fact that they told me to either pay exorbitant amounts of money in full and up front or give up my pet, just to end his suffering, suggests as much.

Unless you absolutely have no other option, find another veterinary hospital. If you do bring your pet here, be prepared for them to attempt to bankrupt you and weaponize your love for your pet against you.

I switched to VCA as our primary veterinarian after some emergency visits with them and ongoing issues with our former vet. Last year, our elderly pitbull was ill and they took us in with very little wait time and were incredibly helpful. Several months later, his cancer had progressed to the point where we knew it was time for us to say goodbye. During such a difficult time and decision, their team was so wonderful to us. Losing a furry family member is never easy, but they made us feel comforted in a devastating situation. I decided to switch our other two dogs to their care for our primary vet care soon after, and they have been wonderful since then. The facilities are clean. The staff is kind, understanding, and knowledgeable. They even answer my random questions and concerns about our pets over the phone without having to wait or worry. Grateful for their professional yet personable team.

I don't have a happy story to tell, but I had to write a review after my experience with VCA PetCare last night. One of my cats suddenly and unexpectedly went into distress. I'd never had to take my pet to an emergency hospital before, but my partner remembered VCA and I called them frantically to ask if I could bring him in. They said of course. We got over there as fast as we could, and their staff immediately brought him back to try and revive him.

Unfortunately, he did not make it. But the staff treated us with such care, respect, and empathy. They kindly laid out my options for what to do with my cat, told my partner and I to stay with him as long as we wanted, and DID NOT CHARGE ME A PENNY for taking him in. I don't know if that is normal for an emergency hospital, but I was shocked and heartened.

I'm devastated, but I will never forget how kindly they treated us. While I have a separate vet for my other cats, I will 100% be going back to VCA in the future in the event that I have an emergency. Thank you so, so much to the staff who were at the hospital in the evening of October 8th.

I am very dissatisfied with this establishment. When calling about not knowing if my cat needed emergency attention, I was reassured that to have him simply looked at to determine if he needed medical attention would be free of charge. They just observed him, didn't run a single test, did nothing but look at him for 5 minutes. Surprise surprise, I get a $200 bill within days. The gentleman who is spreading misinformation to potential customers should be paying this bill, not me. We won't be back, I will also be suggesting friends and family to go elsewhere as well.

My dog ArtaMust hit a car… I said that right. I needed an emergency vet for X-rays. Perfect service so glad they are here. Amazing people who really care. Every person I talked to made sure I didn’t have any other questions.
He didn’t have anything broken and just needed a couple stitches.
