My experience with Mountain West Veterinary on a 1-10 scale, 10 being most excellent is a (10+++) My precious little Pomeranian, Peanut, came up suddenly on Friday evening with symptoms of being lethargic with no interest in eating his dinner followed on Saturday with vomiting and diarrhea with blood in it. By Sunday afternoon, the symptoms continued so I referred by a good friend to bring him here to Mountain West Veterinary. The service we both received here from the veterinary staff and the doctor was most pleasant, professional and they showed genuine concern for the well being & comfort of my Pomeranian. We were checked in, evaluated & treated as needed, checked out and sent home with the medication needed to further treat & provide comfort at home for Peanut all within 45 minutes! Much to my surprise, taking into account this took place on a Sunday afternoon, the cost of this emergency visit was very reasonable! I left going home being reassured in knowing that Peanut will soon be feeling much better and I will get some solid peaceful sleep tonight ?

I adopted a stray kitten (~4 weeks) that had been abandoned by its mother and was in poor health and very malnourished. Less than a day after taking her in I awoke to the kitten having taken a sharp turn into critical condition. She was cold, lethargic, and her eyes had sealed completely with pus. At 3 AM on a holiday (Pioneer Day) I made a call to Mountain West asking questions and making sure they would be able to see her given the date and time. They informed me that given the circumstances they were working with a skeleton crew and there were already quite a few patients they were treating. We arrived just before 4 AM and upon seeing the kitten they stated that she was much more critical than they had initially anticipated and they immediately took her into their care. They discussed options with me before anything had begun and were very transparent with the pricing and the process. The vet called me two separate times to keep me updated and verify that I would be ok with the various treatments as they arose.

They were professional, kind, and compassionate. They gave me very clear discharge instructions, medications, and even provided some of the food that they found out she was very fond of during her stay. They 100% saved my new cats life. Its been a couple of days since her stay and she is now thriving. She has put on weight, is full of energy and back to enjoying life the way a kitten should. I am very grateful for the team there and absolutely plan to bring her back for any future treatments she may need.

Thank Goodness for Mountain West Veterinary. Unlike other emergency vets, they actually want to help pets in need and do not charge an arm and a leg to get the care you need. They were amazing helping with my Golden Retriever that was having a slow whelping process. They were patient and kind and did all the could to take care of my girl. She was able to successfully deliver 12 healthy puppies, 2 of which were at the clinic and the technician was right there to help us through it all. If you need after hours care, this is the place that you can trust with your pets care, and it's affordable, which is a relief.

The staff here is extremely professional and kind. My 18 year old cat fell ill and she was promptly taken care of and the pricing was affordable. 5 plus stars for everyone I interacted with at Mountain West Veterinary Specialists when my little pup needed emergency care this month. Thank you to each team member who cared for my Norman Bates and for being so kind to his traumatized Mother. Norman is healing and learning to live as a tripod. Our cat had an emergency a few weeks ago. Berlyn comforted us when we had to leave him. Dr. Stacy*** quickly figured out the problem- ridiculously smart- and DIDN’T DO ANY UNNECESSARY TESTING!!!!!! This sold us- for the rest of our animals lives. The cost was completely fair- better than we expected. She explained the issue and got us all taken care of and our cat is better than before!!!! Fast forward to Monday- we had to take our dog copper in for an emergency and AGAIN they came through for us 100%. Geniuses. Sweet. Wonderful. Kind. Caring.

The care of my girl was adequate and the price was under the estimate.
My issue was the lack of bedside manner and friendliness.
Luckily my dogs injuries from a fight with her Sister weren't too serious.
I am very particular about my pets doctors and my doctors. If I don't like how they speak to me, feel like I am not listened to, or if they don't have a good patient dr report I will not go back.
I'm glad you have so many good reviews. As I said I have no problem with the care received. I just wish I felt some care or compassion for my sweet girl or myself.

Dr. Johnston, the front desk, and the vet techs took wonderful care of our pup! He got a GI blockage and was very well taken care of! Staff was very polite, professional, knowledgeable, and communicative. I know he was in competent and caring hands. Thank you, Mountain West team!! We are so grateful for your help and expertise. We are so happy to have him home!
