I bring my dog here for grooming every four weeks and she is very well taken care of. Elizabeth is an excellent groomer. I have never struggled to make an appointment post-Covid. We have been clients for four years. If you understand the difference between a vet and an animal hospital and veterinary specialists, your expectations will be met.

THESE PEOPLE DO NOT TAKE PET HEALTH SERIOUSLY. When you give your dog to the vet, you are trusting them to take that responsibility seriously. When I let this vet take my dog to the back room, the office manager came out shortly after to let me know that a miscommunication had led to them giving an incorrect injection. I was dumbfounded. I had verbally confirmed the vaccinations due with them only minutes before.

Luckily there was no major damage or side effects, but it’s easy to imagine just how badly that could have gone. As in death. They did not offer any assurance that they were changing their safety protocols, but the office manager did generously tell me that there would be no charge for whatever the hell they’d injected.

When our caring vet of 8 years retired, we transferred records to Larchmont Village Vet and made an appointment for a physical for our nearly 15 yr old Jack Russell. The appointment was with Dr Fishman. Upon arrival, we were immediately on alert. The place was unwelcoming - like a temporary pop up, without any warm elements. The front desk guy was equally unfriendly. Rather than Fishman (who I specifically requested), another Dr. came in (no explanation for the switch). She was nice enough and told us that, despite her advancing age and minor cognitive decline, to continue with her anti-anxiety med (that she's been on forever!) and that it's possible she could live another couple years given her strong vitals. We walked away thinking looks can be deceiving! WRONG!

Last Saturday, our dog became listless, abnormally sleeping for hours. We thought - this is the end! I called Larchmont Village Vet in a panic. The unfriendly guy said they were closing in half an hour and no one could even come to the phone, let alone see her. When I said this was an emergency, he actually got nasty! I couldn't believe the lack of flexibility or empathy!

So I called the old vet, who had thoughtfully left a recording directing people to MASH animal hospital in an emergency. They couldn't have been nicer. After a series of tests, their Dr shared that she likely had a mild stroke, but given her advanced age and usual indecisive results, the best course of action was not to put her through any more tests but rather monitor her decline. We were happy to see she had perked up (feisty Jacks!!) and accepted what lies ahead. In the commotion, I forgot to ask whether to continue the anti-anxiety meds or whether that might accelerate the cognitive decline.

Monday I had MASH transfer the records to Larchmont Village Vet and called them to ask about taking her off that one pill. When I finally reached their receptionist, she told me no one was available. I asked for a Vet to please call back. Hours later, she called back to say they refused to speak to me as I hadn't brought her there during the episode (!!!). What Therefore, I now needed to bring her back in for more tests to get to the source. Seriously? I explained that they had diagnostics from a month ago, tests from MASH, plus we had just decided AGAINST more tests!! All I wanted was a quick follow up call with the Vet (who we just saw for a lot of $$$) about a simple pill. Nope! No one would speak to me unless I came in and paid for more tests all over again! Not even a question about how she was actually doing!

Our old vet 1) would have squeezed her in if she was having an emergency - even if he was closing in a half hour, 2) would have called us over the weekend to see how she - and we - were doing! 2) on Monday, gotten on the phone about the pill!

After 5 loyal years of coming here, I will never go back. I will never recommend them, and I strongly advise against anyone going there. Their blatant disregard for my dog’s safety and health nearly cost him his life. They were rude, dismissive, unapologetic, and downright unprofessional.

My dog began exhibiting severe diarrhea, and I called to make an appointment. They were unable to accommodate me, which is understandable for a busy practice. I was forced to go to a previous vet, where they performed basic bloodwork and fecal testing. All results came back normal. However, his symptoms continued and escalated with severely bloody stools. I wanted to return to the vet he knew and trusted, and I finally got an appointment for Friday at 11:30 AM. On Friday morning at 4:57 AM, I received an email confirming the 11:30 AM appointment. I arrived at 11:00 AM. After being outside for about 10 minutes and Koda experiencing a bout of diarrhea, I checked in at 11:08am. At 11:33, the front desk attendant called me over and told me she would not be able to see Koda because I had not checked in within the 15-minute window. I explained that I had been there and checked in at 11:08. She then told me my appointment was actually at 11:00 AM and that I was late. I showed her the confirmation email. She claimed it was a glitch in the system and that the email I received was for a freestanding appointment created six months ago, actually scheduled for the following day. This was a lie. I have never had a freestanding appointment before. I begged her to see my dog since I was already there and, even if there was a miscommunication and an eight-minute delay, this was an urgent situation.

At that moment, my poor dog exploded in their lobby. The pool of blood was violent and astonishing. Up until now, even with his urgent diarrhea, he had never lost bowel control indoors. I offered to mop the mess and was attempting to comfort my dog and maintain a level of calm to avoid agitating him further. The receptionist did nothing. I pleaded with her, pointing out what had just happened, and asked if she could at least offer triage, check his vitals, or give him some fluids since he was severely dehydrated. She remained condescending and rude, stating there was nothing she could do, and that I had missed the appointment, even though it was their computer glitch mistake. The only option, according to her, was for them to take him in the back and keep him for 4 to 6 hours in a cage, possibly squeezing him in. I asked if they’d begin basic care and if he he’d be let out to poop. They said no. Other people in the waiting room were horrified; a gentleman even offered to give me his spot. The check-in staff insisted that was my only option or that I could come back at 6:30 PM, offering no immediate assistance for the current emergency situation.

A waiting customer pulled me aside and told me to leave immediately and take Koda to the emergency hospital. They advised that Larchmont Village Vet had no diagnostic abilities and were just a basic veterinary clinic. I left distraught and raced to TrueCare in Studio City, a 30-minute drive. Upon arrival, they confirmed that my dog was severely dehydrated, running a fever, and had an irregular heart rate. They stated that if I had arrived 10 or 15 minutes later, he possibly could have died. His condition was urgent and avoidable. It’s astonishing that Larchmont Village Vet wouldn’t even begin basic triage by giving him fluids and checking his vitals. Their complete ineptitude, lack of empathy, and ridiculous service could have cost my dog his life. If it weren’t for TrueCare, my dog would have died. I will never go back to Larchmont Village Vet, I will never recommend them, and if I could, I would file a lawsuit for negligence. Dr. Fishman your negligent staff is your responsibility and their handing of this situation is deplorable. You have lost a loyal client. For anyone reading this, Find a better Vet.

The kindness, gentleness, and patience that was shown to my cat for his first visit is deeply appreciated. My cat is an anxious boy at the vet after a bad experience with his previous vet. But Dr. Drayton was able to get my cat to warm up to him with a Churu (his favorite!). The visit went very smoothly. Thanks Dr. Drayton and staff for being amazing!

We switched to this vet because our last vet was beyond terrible. I am still in awe of how warm, accommodating, and knowledgeable this vet is. The vet always knows who he is seeing and has knowledge of all the previous visits. He also remember which animals are in the household and asks about them as well. It was such a relief to find a vet that really takes the time to know his patients. We’re no longer just a chart on a computer screen.
