I always try to leave good reviews for any business or institution in an effort to bring a positive outlook and mentality to this world. The story begins with this family of seven that were living behind my repair shop business. I came to know of their existence when the orange puppy who we came to know as “orange” when into the shop asking for food. I ended up giving them shelter inside the shop and attempted to find a home by posting them online and asking anyone that would like to adopt them. I was willing to incur all cost associated with their adoption. I unfortunately had no luck and made the dreadful decision to take them to merced county animal shelter. When I arrived, I was greeted by the manager and what I would assume was her assistant. They refused to give me their names and refused to identify themselves as manager/s. They tend to forget they have a photo of themselves with their respective titles online. I was accused of abandoning them in the shelter and constantly belittled my wife and used abusive language that no one, not even a rude customer deserves to be called or addressed as. We left them on the shelter on Tuesday 26th and my wife went to visit them the following day. They were in good shape and happy to see my wife. Thursday we noticed they were not in the website anymore and decided to go Friday. Friday we are greeted by the assistant manager’s discriminatory comments and she accused me of “bringing parvo into the shelter”. However, the manager on Tuesday stated they had a Parvo outbreak, however, the comment was aimed as a scare tactic and get me to admit they were my puppies and I was abandoning them.I feel guilty of their deaths and as I write this I can’t stop to wonder if this was done in retaliation for the questions asked to them on that Tuesday. It burdens me to know those two individuals work in a place that should be filled with love and compassion but reality is the complete opposite. All life is valuable to me, I made an oath to protect them and ultimately failed and at the end of the day; the institution that was mean to aid and look up to is the one that ends up putting a death sentence on them. They refused to let me see the mom of the puppies and couldn’t put a coherent sentence or reason to deny me entry. They did however allow another gentleman to enter. I guess at the end of the day, this is just meant to keep their memories alive and despite me only knowing them for a few days, part of me died with them that day.
