We've been coming here for multiple years and have spent many a thousands of dollars. The care has been steadily declining over those years. To the point where it came to a head with our 8 year old American Bulldog. He's had skin cancer for a few years (slow growth masses) that have to be operated on every 1-2 years (Armstrong helped diagnose and does the operations on them). We came to Armstrong for a growth that appeared on his wrist, an appointment in which it was overlooked and they focused on his skin cancer. They recommended they remove it (skin cancer) immediately. Taking their advice we did, still concerned about his wrist we insisted X-rays be done to his wrist along with the X-rays for his skin cancer before the procedure could commence. We got the results back that, it too, was potentially cancer (osteosarcoma). We went ahead and completed the surgery based on the recommendation from the vet for his skin cancer that left multiple wounds to attend to and eventually even some complications with the sutures not closing the wounds properly and even letting in air into his abdomen. All while the mass on his wrist continued to grow. We sought care from another vet after this experience. This type of cancer (osteosarcoma), left untreated could kill within the matter of 6 months. He will not reap the benefits of the skin cancer removal because the bone cancer is a way more aggressive form of cancer. This ended up just costing some of his remaining days (original surgery took place in July and we took out the remaining staples just now 09/19/24) recovering from the surgery, and our wallets. He only has a few more months with us and I'm saddened that hes had to spend a decent portion of that time recovering from a surgery he didn't need.

Pictures:
1st is post skin cancer surgery (shows ~3 of the 8 wounds he had around his body)
2nd you can see the size of the tumor now (left wrist). That ball is the tumor that has grown exponentially in the past couple of months.

Edit: My sweet boy passed 9/24.

We love this hospital! The entire staff was friendly and helped us in our time of need with our fur-baby. The doctor was super friendly and explained everything to us before we proceeded with our treatment plan. We were recommended this place by another hospital and Armstrong was able to see us next day in the morning as early as possible. Armstrong is affordable and was able to conduct the procedure needed to save our baby’s life.

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE RATING! I would give 0 stars if that was possible. Pet owners pay close attention to the poor reviews as I did not and my experience here was horrible. The vet took advantage of my inexperience dealing with pet surgery and eagerness to get my dog treated. He thought a scab was a bandage when I insisted it wasn't. He then proceeded to tell me he would take out my pet's 7 stitches and clean the almost healed wound. When I picked my dog up, he had 19 new stitches and the wound looked brand new. No one could communicate to me what happened or why the treatment plan changed so dramatically, but they were more than happy to charge me additional costs for treatment I did not authorize. I asked the front desk staff what happened during the surgery and she said she didn't know but proceeded with the checkout. I called the office over the phone asking for answers the next day and the front desk staff said they had my dog under anesthesia and were monitoring him, which was impossible because my dog was right next to me at home (another example of how unorganized they are). The manager was not helpful at all and insisted the vet did the right thing, trying to guilt trip me into saying that it was the best care for my dog (also the most expensive). This place is unorganized, takes advantage of stressed pet owners, chargers you as much as possible, and DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WELL with customers.

I moved to Clovis in 2019, looking for the perfect Veterinarian to take my precious baby chihuahua to. I was introduced to Armstrong Pet Hospital.
My baby girl, was later diagnosed with Cushing's syndrome and hypothyroidism, which was managed by Dr. Gill.
Dr. Gill was so caring and compassionate towards my little baby, and the way he took the time and effort to explain things was exceptional. He was thorough and consistent every time.
The previous negative reviews are not reflective of Armstrong Pet Hospital, I recommend all my friends and family with fur babies to the best in Fresno County- Armstrong Pet Hospital!

I randomly received multiple different emails with other customers’ personal information stating that I had scheduled appointments for random pets. When I called to make sure my personal information hadn’t also been compromised, the front desk employee told me it was fine in an annoyed tone. I pushed it and gave her the dates and times of the appointments scheduled with my information. She the said the phone number and email weren’t associated with the appointments- without ever asking what my email was…. I then tell her my email info, and sure enough the appointments were scheduled under me. Hoping more of my or other customers’ personal information hasn’t been compromised. To make it even worse, she never apologized and was rude about it from the start. Glad we stopped using this vet- new ownership made everything go downhill.

Armstrong Pet Hospital (APH) was the local veterinary I choose for one of the hardest events in my life. The facility is modern, easily accessible, professional and very clean. This Monday morning I knew it was time to allow my dog Dior to her final rest. The technician who verified that Dior was stable enough to get all the paperwork completed was gentle and quick. The Veterinarian Doctor explained the entire process and allowed me to hold Dior as she passed. A short time after I returned to pick-up Dior’s urn. Her urn was packaged beautifully, included a certification, booklet on grieving and a card. A couple of weeks after I received a card in the mail from APH. In my opinion the card could have been excluded. The envelope contained a Thinking of You card with 3-prints (2 paws 1 nose) and a 3 by 5 index card with 1-print (nose). The idea of someone placing ink and paper on Dior’s deceased body was upsetting. I would not have memorialized Dior in this fashion. Staff shouldn’t be “paw-printing”someone’s lifeless animal; especially their nose. It’s not a pleasant thought by any means. A card of Condolence and/or Thanks For Choosing Us would have been much more appreciated. The card lacks a level of professionalism, materials used and in timing.

These people are unimaginably greedy and incompetent. They extracted teeth from my 14-year-old Yorkie after guilting me about how much pain she was in when I initially refused. She had her teeth cleaned every year, it was due to old age, not negligence. The only reason we hadn’t done it sooner was because the previous vet had said she was too old, too tiny, and in kidney failure, so he didn’t think she’d survive it. He recommended pain medicine and antibiotics. These new people spent 20 minutes telling me how cruel it was not to do it even after her kidney labs came back even worse than before. The vet insisted that she’d be fine- that they would be fast and use very little medication. My gut said not to do it, but he had me in a vulnerable moment and I loved my dog. She died the next day, in pain and terrified. Armstrong then tried to say it wasn’t due to the anesthesia- she literally ran in the day of the procedure and was basically dead when I picked her up. I can’t believe they haven’t been sued more. The sad thing is that the people who used to own the practice were amazing, it’s awful what these people have done. These new younger vets are just in it for the money and it’s disgusting.
