I want to express my deepest gratitude to the incredible staff at Agoura Animal Care. When I was about to deliver my dog’s body, a kind lady (I’m not sure if she was part of the staff or not) gently pulled my friend back and said, ‘She needs a real hug.’ She hugged me tight, and in that moment, her warmth and compassion meant the world to me. It truly helped ease my grief. I hope she sees this review, and I want to thank her and the team for making such a difficult time a little easier with your care and support.

I first tried to adopt a dog through the Ventura County animal shelter in Camarillo. The process was very much self-led with minimal advice from staff and I ended up with a dog I unfortunately had to bring back the same day… she was sweet and I did want to provide a home for her, but it turned out not to be a match for the home I had. Don’t get me wrong, I did the research, but this pupper had some behavioral issues that weren’t disclosed.

That sets us up well for my review here. When I went to look at the dogs, I was met by volunteers who asked me about my home and what I was looking for and brought me to a couple of potential new friends. I instantly loved my Allie and brought her home that day. She’s been a wonderful companion and I’m appreciative of the care staff made to understand what I was looking for and set me up with the right dog… not just for me, but for the dog! It’s better to minimize unnecessary stress and sending a dog home with the right owner is crucial.

On sept 2024 me and my daughters went to adopt peanut but we put name Rocky our puppy and am so happy with my dog and the stuff there are very kind people they help me in every thing.

They refuse to help. Use every excuse to reject taking a stay animal in even when it was found in their jurisdiction. They’d rather not be hassled than do the job they’re supposed to do. Just told me to take to another shelter or release them back onto the streets without any spay or neutering. Incredibly irresponsible. Shame on them.

I adopted Dorothy (Dolly) about a month ago. I won the lottery with her. She unbelievable! I don’t understand how she was a stray and not looked for. She’s soo sweet and was trained… I love her soooo much.

They were Awesome at the Agoura Shelter.. They really care about their pups. The volunteers are Amazing.

I can’t say enough what a positive experience I had at the Agoura Shelter ❤️

Absolutely horrible place. They let me adopt a dog that was severely sick and told me nothing.when I got home I realized he was u well. When I went in to see if they would help to nurse him back to healthy since the vet bills were thousands of dollars they guilt tripped me and offered no help, even if I surrender him and wanted to know when he was better the man at the desk said he might forget to call me. Horrible. They don’t care about the animals.

This shelter is fantastic. We adopted our pup here a month ago and I’ve been too busy with him to write a review but they deserve one. At first they seem a little daunting. There’s a lot of paperwork to fill out to even play with a dog and they are very honest about the reason dogs are at the shelter. This is all important to know before adopting though. The volunteers are sweet and loving with the animals and very eager to see them go to the right home. We worked directly with Canaday, Craig and Jackie who were wonderful, animal loving humans. Mr Guzman in the office is an amazing man and a wonderful help and addition to the Agoura team. Couldn’t be happier to visit this shelter and know that the animals are being treated with loving care, kept in clean facilities and adopted into the right homes.
