Dr. Shoemaker is a very special doctor and truly has the gift of healing. She is so in tune with her patients, paying careful detail to what their body needs. We have never once felt rushed during an appointment and I always leave having a thorough understanding of the diagnosis and how best to care for each of my pets. I’ve taken a dog who was battling two cancers, another who was lame and unable to walk prior to their appointment and Dr. Shoemaker helped both immensely. Can’t recommend her enough !

This is one Amazing woman!
Dr. Shoemaker’s knowledge and care for animals is extraordinary. She will spend so much time with your pet to get to the root of the issues while she is teaching you, the pet parent! She is generous with sharing information and embraces your intent to care for your pet in the best way available to you. Dr Shoemaker takes the time to listen to your concerns and address them as well as diagnosing other issues you weren’t aware of. I’ve never met a doctor who is so thorough, honest and encouraging!
Your pet will know she is on their side and love her, too. My tripawd is terrified to enter any vet’s office and very noticeably shakes and wants to head for the door. Within a few minutes with Dr Shoemaker, he is calm and trusting. My pup always leaves
Dr Shoemaker’s office with a smile and a happy tail wagging because he feels so much better after all her great medical and caring attention. .
Dr Shoemaker’s staff are also professional, kind and informative pet people. I sincerely appreciate Dr. Shoemaker's standard of practice and trust her 100% for the care of my pup.

Doctor shoemaker misdiagnose my dog not once but twice. Said he had a heart condition that needed immediate attention. Stated he had a life-threatening hernia. Doctor Shoemaker, charge me over seven hundred dollars. I purchased vitamins from her that were already open when I got home. I immediately went to a heart specialist, Believing her diagnosis, cost thirteen hundred dollars. Multiple phone calls and emails with no response for weeks. Doctor Shoemaker never responded to me. Had some office person called she was no help. I went to see her after my holistic vet passed away, unfortunately.

I still can't believe my dog actually lets them trim her nails! Without a gigantic fuss! The way the techs and Dr. Shoemaker handle my dog make a big difference in her comfort in receiving care. And the nail trim has been a game changer in her overall comfort and posture! Dr. Shoemaker also provided referrals for some surgery needs who are well-suited to care for my dog's sensitivities to medications.

Dr Shoemaker is a wealth of knowledge and information. She takes time to explain her holistic approach and educates me on how it benefits my dogs health and well being. She is very kind and it is obvious how much she cares about my puppy's health and wellbeing. During each visit, Dr Shoemaker makes sure notes are taken and sent home with me detailing what was done during the visit, along with next steps and recommendations to help keep my puppy healthy. Rebel and I are very lucky to have such a caring vet.

My dog and I were delighted with the various treatments and modalities used to help him at our first visit. By the end of our initial visit I was pleased to see how attentive and willing my dog was to do what ever was needed for his treatment and our introductory visit.
We went home with suppliments that noticeably improved his digestive health. Blood work was done that led to a better understanding of what needs to happen next to resolve his health issues. In the process I am being taught how to better care for his eyes and his nails and he receives physical modalities like chiropractic adjustments and acupressure that make him move and feel better.

I generally do not write reviews because they can be random and subjective, even punitive. However, I can no longer keep from touting the talents, knowledge, and understanding of Dr. Shoemaker and her staff at Always Helpful Veterinary Services.
I've been a client for quite a while now, and I can say that Dr. Shoemaker and her staff have been MORE than helpful at any given time. We rely on veterinarians to make things OK with our pets. Well, Dr. Shoemaker does more than that. She has done wonders with my dogs, and every single "problem" that I deemed an emergency or that I did not see coming.
Her skills are second to none. She practices veterinary medicine, but it's more than that. She knows your pet(s) and genuinely cares about their physical and mental health. She also, and I'm not sure how she does it, cares for the human client.
Many moons ago, I used to think that holistic medicine was a bunch of nonsense, and was highly reliant on conventional veterinary practices. Dr. Shoemaker practices both holistic and conventional veterinary medicine. Her talents span both disciplines and she has treated my dogs with both. I will say her chiropractic therapies have helped my dogs in areas where I did not think it was possible. She's also saved me tremendous upset and anxiety by healing holistically. I've had two dogs now that had vestibular disease and both were treated with chiropractic adjustments and exercises that helped tremendously. Dr. Shoemaker is generous with her time, knowledge, and energy. She is gentle, kind, and loving towards all animals.
I am grateful to have her as my veterinarian and a genuine friend. We appreciate her and her staff tremendously.
