Absolutely wonderful (smaller) animal shelter that is staffed entirely by volunteers who truly love these animals. They occasionally have dogs, but their main focus is cats.

Great organization. I love and respect what they do. However, I found it difficult to adopt from here. I submitted an application, but never heard back. I called, and the woman said she would call me back sometime soon and that my application was approved. Never heard back. You’d think they’d want to find these animals homes, considering most of them have been here for years. I couldn’t think of a reason why they would behave this way. I’ve called a few times now, and I keep hearing the same runaround. I think I’ll adopt elsewhere.

I've volunteered here for a month now. I love being there. They always need more volunteers and donations. Any one that says negative things about the humane society I encourage to come volunteer. Make a difference with the other volunteers there. ?

My mom Melanie Hicks used to volunteer here. She loved it and Vickie is amazing. They truly care about animals.

I originally wasn’t going to leave a review, but I’m very disappointed in the way I was treated over the phone by one of the staff members. This will be kind of long, as I feel it’s important to give some background information.
I want to start off by saying I think it’s great they do background checks on their potential adopters. However, I am 20 and got my previous cats when I was 11 years old, and when I was 19, I registered them in my name (as they were not technically mine yet, they were my parents) and began taking them to the vet myself. During a visit, one of them couldn’t receive vaccinations due to an unknown illness at the time and he had to receive blood-work for it.
I understand she was just doing her job, but I was met with a very rude, accusatory attitude, and she was very huffy and puffy over the phone as I was trying to explain the situation to her. I was interrupted and she even raised her voice at me at one point during the call.
I feel very discouraged as a young pet owner, and I really wanted to give a small shelter some support. I read through the other reviews and this seems to be a reoccurring issue. I hope they come to their senses, and realize the way they treat people affects the animals that need homes. Very disappointed.

I can't say enough good things about Animal Aid! The volunteers are so kind and knowledgeable. When you walk through the door you get a warm welcome from the cats. It's clear to see that the felines at Animal Aid are healthy and well socialized. We adopted a kitten from AA last year, and she is the best cat we've had the pleasure of owning. She's cute and playful, and a little bit spoiled. We love her to pieces.

I visited the shelter and saw very well cared for and healthy looking cats and dogs. It was so touching how much the staff loves these beautiful creatures. It is obvious how hard they work to keep up with all of the responsibilities involved in caring for them. I'm hoping to be able to volunteer some of my time there.

My puppy I jus got caught parvo after a couple days of me having him. I was told to call the humane society and Vicky the director was very much rude. She proceeded to tell me I shouldn’t have gotten a puppy because I have kids and people need to be mindful of the responsibilities. I hung up because I was in disbelief. I then called back to let her know I would be reporting her she was on the phone screaming she was sorry because she knew she was wrong. They are there to help with animal aid not to be rude and nasty. I then called her today to voice my concerns and she laughted and hung up. I also feel I was discriminated against because she just. Helped a person not my color and with his dog with no problem. I had nasty things said to me while on the phone trying to get my puppy help I will be calling the city and I also have every recording from the phone call.
