Our dog did escape the house and caused a bite to a person walking by. We knew that there would be a report and investigation. However, without formal notice or any notice whatsoever, our dog was removed from our possession for a 10 day quarantine. That we understand is a policy that was followed. But we feel it was not followed correctly and not properly explained at the time of seizure of the dog. We were given a card and the dog was taken. There was no explanation that it was for a quarantine, the length of stay or any information about how to reclaim or contest/appeal the seizure.
I went to the humane society and was only given information when I physically had to ask for it in person. I requested to see him and was denied. Only then was I told the hold was for 10 days. I was given a paper with the charges that we would be required to cover and a date we could pick him up. There was still no motion of the fact that the quarantine could have been done in the home if all requirements could be complied with or that there could even be an appeal option. We did not fight or argue the things we were told.
We have received no phone calls or emails from Animal Control. Communication is F-

I surrendered a rabbit and the intake clerk was very rude and snoby for no reason. I was not rude to her.

I merely explained they had the wrong information about a rabbit I adopted 3 days earlier and I couldn't keep him because it was fighting with my other male rabbit.

Maybe she was just having a bad morning or she's just a judgmental C U Next Tuesday.

Either way if you can't be kind to customers in a customer service position, get a different job. ?‍♀️

Clean facility. Very friendly staff. I drove 5 hours to pick up my lost dog. Shortly after leaving my hometown in Nevada I found an abandoned puppy at an empty rest stop. I had planned to take the puppy back with me to the closest animal control to the rest stop on my way home. After mentioning it to the staff at IHS they offered me a kennel, dog food, leash, collar, blankets and dishes for the puppy on the ride back to Nevada.

If I could leave zero stars and have it be a valid review I would. I have never left a review but the sheer disrespect I experienced over a phone call when speaking to Animal Control Officers swayed me to speak out.

I was violently attacked in my home by my dog. To the point of being taken to the hospital by ambulance. The night this occured my girlfriend was contacted by animal control and they had offered to come and remove the dog that attacked me. She told them she needed time to discuss it with me as she was following the ambulance to the hospital when they called her.

The following day I called them to see if there was anything I could do to have my dog removed from my home for my safety and my families safety.

I called them and I was asking questions that were never fully answered. I was just told to fill out an online form over and over again to have my dog surrendered and that I would need to transport her myself right after being viciously attacked.

When I spoke with them I was very polite and nice and courteous. My main goal was to see if there was a way for them to remove her, since it was an option the previous evening.
I wasn't sure if this was something that animal control could offer. I assumed that if they were able to go out and catch stray and potentially aggressive dogs that this was something they should be equipped to handle especially after such a traumatic event.

As I was talking to the animal control female officer I brought up what my girlfriend was told on a phone call the previous evening. Immediately I was cut off by a second female officer. The second officer went on to call my girlfriend a liar. They both cut me off and the second female officer stated that she never said that and that it was something they flat out did not offer to us. I went on to explain to the officers that I obviously was not present for the original call, further explaining that I'm in terrible pain and in fear for my life.

The call didnt progress much past that as they were making claims that it wasnt appropriate for me to expect them to risk their safety trying to remove my dog from my home. This piece of the conversation was particularly confusing to me. Especially because they had offered to remove her the night before. Both female officers were aggressive and non-empathetic towards my situation.
Neither one of them offered a solution aside from filling out a form.

This phone call was so bad. I was arguing my safety and well-being as well as my family's safety and well-being and thier stance was in quotes: "So you want to put us in danger and come get your dog?"

In no way shape or form would I wish that on anybody. Maybe I'm wrong and I don't know what I'm talking about. But I thought that maybe this is what they specialized in and had gear to handle. If that's not the case a simple statement like, "No we cannot handle this situation." Would have sufficed, instead I experienced two women ganging up on me. I just wanted a yes or no answer if they could help or not, which I still never got a definitive answer to.

I ended up hanging up in an effort to end the phone call because of how much I was being aggressively over talked by them and horribly mistreated. To further my point I hope to never actually need their services because obviously these two officers are in the wrong line of business. They lack compassion and have no regard for the amount of trauma and stress and fear someone goes through in a situation like this.

The ada county animal control board is a joke. I politely asked for information in regards of my dog being shot on November 22nd. It was the 27th when I called asking for information. The unpleasant woman who answered the phone after taking initial information became super aggressive and snobby to me and said that just because my dog had not been on my property she was liable to being shot. And then proceeded to yell at me all while another woman was able to be heard and chimed in her two cents that wasn't asked for, saying that I should have kept better track of my dog. Mind you my dog was shot within city limits on a property that backs up to several sub divisions. She was shot with a 9mm pistol in the face. Based on trajectory of the round he had gotten her attention and point blank tried to execute her. The guy who shot her has several different stories that hes telling and none of them add up. As well as my camera can hear the shot being fired my dog yelping and i watched his wife follow my dogs home after shooting her
they didnt warn me at any time that theyve been on their property. Which the guy said theyve seen them several times and never had an issue. All I was requesting was information on what was going on and if there was going to be an investigation and the heartless woman just kept repeating that they weren't going to do anything, couldn't tell me anything, and that because my dog was off leash it was ok for her to be shot. We've called back several times to speak to a different person and the same heartless woman answers every time and immediately starts making rude remarks and is super unpleasant.

My wife called and asked for the police report which the police department said that's where we can get it as I was heated she called the next day. Once they found out who they were talking to they instantly starting being rude both of them over talking her and she asked so there is no report and asked for the deputies name. They also did not have that information and then proceeded to tell her the police department called them back the same day telling animal control to drop it. My wife got frustrated with the two voices talking at the same time and requested to talk to one of them when they continued that lady who was the supervisor wouldn't answer my wife questions directly and kept over talking her she screamed at them I am talking and they hung up. My wife called back another lady answered and she could hear them laughing in the back ground and my wife asked for names to who she was just talking to. The new lady on the phone said she had no idea but could ask around to find out she took my wife's name and number down placed her on hold for a minute or two and was hung up on yet again. She called back two more times and they ignored her call and the final time she called another gal answered and said there are 200 people that work and she can't figure out who I talked to. She insisted she needed the names. The gal on the phone said she can get her over to their director. Finally when on the phone with him he at least showed empathy for the situation even though he still couldnt provide names he was able to be helpful enough to point her in a new direction. He apologized for how the first ladies made her feel and said he hoped our dog was okay. Throughout all of this the supervisor in the beginning said our dog had been grazed. our dog was shot in the face with an exit and entrance wound. Not once did someone even ask if our dog was okay till the end. This place is to be there to provide justice for animals and help animals. Their actions shows their complete dislike of animals.
