Its taken me a few months to write this review after losing my heart and soul, our beutiful, smart, loving, special, 4 yr old Great Dane, Clayton. Clayton was playing in our yard and was attacked by a feral cat. We noticed 24-hours later he wasnt eating, develoiped a high fever, and eventually couldnt stand. I rushed him to the vet and that evening there was no improvement. In Texarkana, TX there are no local emergency vets and no vets with weekend hours. We were referred to the Emergency Clinic in Shrevesport. I called and explained his condition and told the receptionist we would be arriving, I asked their prices for emergency visits, knowing that they can be very expensive. it was almost a 2 hour drive, it was very late, and it took 4 adults to get Clayton into our vehicle, he was unable to stand and was disoriented. When I arrived I immediately ran insode and told them he was not doing well. We waited almost an hour for the tech to come out and then the vet to sedate him so they could get him on a stretcher and bring him inside. They had to give him multiple injections and finally got him inside the clinic. I was told it would be a little bit and the doctor would be out once they knew anything. This was my 1st red flag.....I went to the reception to ask where I could go grab something to eat or a coffee and was told I was not allowed to leave, when I asked why I was told people run out on their bill and leave their pets! Seriously? I was then told that they have cameras around the building. After another hour I was brought into a small room met by a tech and an estimate. I was told that to treat Clayton it would be over $3,200.00! And when I asked to see the estimate she resisited but let me see it. I immediately questioned why so many charges for things that were completely unnecessary, inclding a charge for a shock collar!! When I asked WTH that was for I was told it was used to keep the dogs calm and prevent them from pulling out their IV. Seriously!! My dog is barely conscious and they want to use a shock collar. AND charge me for it. After calling in the doctor and another 45 minutes they took almost 1/2 of the charges off the bill. After discussing the treatment plan of antibiotics to get his fever down, IV fluids, and draining the abcess from the cat attack, and realizing he would need to spend the night I decided to head home and come back in the monring. Did I mention I was not allowed to see him? I was shocked to learn that I needed to pay the bill in full... before they trated him, and before I left. 100% in full!. I told them I was not prepared to pay the full bill that evening, I would pay a third and settle the balance when I come back in the morning. I was told absolutely not. I either find a way to pay or I will need to get Clayton back in my vehicle and drive him 2 hours back home, untreated. AND it was midnight!I have NEVER had a vet demand payment before treating my pet and hold me hostage in their facility until I do. And when I asked why I wasnt told about this opractice BEFORE I came I was not given an answer. I had to wake up a family member to use their credit card to pay the entire bill. nd as I was leasving I was reminded the cutoff time before additional charges would be incurred. The next morning I called first thing to see how Clayton was doing. I was told his fever broke, he was more alert, but still slightly sedated, but the prognosis looked good. I was thrilled. After sopeaking with the doctor I decided to extend his stay a bit to be sure he was improving and able to comne home or if he neded to stay another night. A few hours later the doctor called me and said Clayton hd passed away, his heart had stopped and they were so sorry. I never got to see him, never got to comfort him, or say goodbye. This was not only my worst ngihtmare, but the absolute worst expeience I have ever had. Things didnt have tio happen like this. I didnt even get to say goodbye. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT take your pets here!!

This was such a pleasant experience for me! When I arrived, I was so scared for my kitty girl, Peach. The front desk workers were so amazing, kind, PATIENT, both when we dropped Peach off and when we picked her up! I could go on and on. Doctor Hamilton was so great and amazing, she explained everything perfectly and talked us through the whole process. We LOVED her!! A 10/10 experience, thank yall so much!

Amazing vet service! Staff was very kind and helpful on the phone. We ended up bringing kitty in and boarding her overnight. They took EXCELLENT care of her and updated us throughout the process. They even put a little heart on her splint:) They’re not much more expensive than my normal vet, which was a very pleasant surprise!

We brought our puppy Reese in on a Saturday afternoon after an accident with a vehicle. She had to stay a few nights there due to the injurues. Through that whole weekend everytime we called they were always so nice and got us the answers we needed. We called 2-3 everyday, they were so understanding and very patient. We spoke to the vets they were all very straight forward and explained everything to us to where we could understand. They were upfront about prices, they did not try to sell us on anything. They told us what they recommended and the price. We did not hesitate one bit because they made us feel comfortable knowing our baby was being taken care of. There is honestly not one bad thing to say about this place during our time with them. I would highly recommended. So thankful they saved our sweet girl and she's back home!

I cannot say enough great things about this clinic! We brought both of our dogs in when they ate some toxic mushrooms in our yard. Every single person we came into contact with was kind, patient, and knowledgeable. Our dogs got the best care and the staff made the process easy for us humans, as well. I hope we don’t ever have to come back, but I take comfort in the knowledge that if we need emergency services again, there is a top notch clinic to care for them. Thank you again!!

Worst vet ever. Gave my dog a purse string and it broke before we could get him in car. Went back in and got it fixed. Three days past it happened again. Took him to his local vet and had there terrible work fixed. And was a wonderful job. Now a couple of days ago the purse string broke again. And due to being after hours had no choice but to take him back to this terrible place. Was just praying they could least do good enough to hold till Monday when his regular vet is open. Bit of course not. He came home from vet yesterday evening and now it’s broke again. Called and told them what happened and they had the nerve to blame his regular vet. Then accused me of doing something to cause it. They are over price and do a terrible job. If you love your animals please take them somewhere else.

While traveling, my cat experienced a urinary blockage. I travelled two hours to this clinic as it was the closest one, the team was quick, accommodating and understanding. They worked with my travel arrangements to help get my baby boy back to me as soon as possible. I highly recommend this team if you need an emergency assist.

Dr. Coleman and the Animal Emergency Clinic were so helpful when my 13 year old pomeranian stopped eating and was vomiting. She was already compromised with renal disease and I was very concerned about her prognosis. The Clinic was busy that night, but the staff were patient and helpful, offering updates when asked. Dr. Coleman examined her and listened carefully as I explained her symptoms and my concerns. She was very professional, kind, and took her time to discuss treatment options with me. She made sure that my little one was stable and treated with medication until I could follow up with her regular veterinarian. So happy to have this valuable service for our animals. Thank you Dr Coleman and Animal Emergency Clinic!
