I typically avoid posting negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience with Dr. Faber.

I sought out Dr. Faber because I was told he was an eye specialist. After already consulting with two other vets about my dog's eye condition, I expected a thorough examination and informed diagnosis. However, Dr. Faber spent no more than 20 minutes with us, compared to the nearly two hours each of the previous vets dedicated. His demeanor was condescending, and he did not explain the exams he conducted. When diagnosing my dog, he recommended simply continuing with anti-inflammatory medication for the rest of my dogs life. This felt like a bandaid rather than addressing the root of the issue.

Although Dr. Faber’s exams did not reveal any immediate problems, I felt that this should have led to a more in-depth investigation, rather than just a surface-level solution.

Over the next two weeks, despite following his advice, my dog continued to suffer. I reached out to Dr. Faber’s office multiple times for follow-up, but he did not return my calls. When he eventually did call back, he denied receiving my messages and seemed to dismiss my concerns, again coming across as condescending.

Given my experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Faber. I hoped for a better outcome and was willing to give him another chance, but my experience only confirmed my initial disappointment. If you value thorough care and respectful communication, you may want to consider other options.

For your pets and even for yourself, any significant health concern merits at least a consultation with a specialist if the condition is not improving. The whole staff clearly loves animals too. My Draco dreads going to the vet but he certainly enjoyed the snacks at the front desk!

Dr. Nick Faber was very thorough and took the time to explain what he was seeing when he examined my dogs eyes. I’m very thankful for the explanation. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I've been coming here for OFA/ CAER eye exams for over two decades; Dr Faber is simply the best at explaining what he finds, good or otherwise. Highly recommended!

The staff was really friendly and Dr. Faber was awesome. He told me exactly what was wrong with my Stark kitty, how he was going to fix Stark's eyes, and was very willing to answer any questions I had. Would definitely come here again if any of my animal crew needed vision help.

We met Dr. Faber almost a decade ago when we were first referred by our general Vet for our Cocker Spaniel, Andra who developed cataracts. He was great with her from assessment to after surgery follow ups.
He is THE EXPERT in his field and we did not go anywhere else when our Miniature Schnauzer, Gryffin went blind due to diabetes. We will be forever grateful.
It will be wise for anyone who is referred to take the advice. There is a reason for a specialty and Dr. Faber, in my humble opinion, is the epitome of it.

The staff here are so sweet! They really helped with my fur baby’s pannus condition. Dr. Faber is also very kind and patient, always taking time to answer my many questions. Pannus is a lifelong condition and I’m glad I found a trusted place to continue taking my sweet baby for treatment.

Did not have a great experience with Dr. Faber. We were told to be at our appointment at 7:45am. The doctor didn’t see us until close to 8:30am. He barely made eye contact with me and made multiple condescending remarks. And the staff immediately muzzled our obedient dog. We were charged $260 for a 20 minute appointment and Dr. Faber misdiagnosed my dog with Pannus and an ulcer on his left eye. He prescribed our dog dexamethasone eye drops which made our dog’s eyes worse and also prescribed an antibiotic eye drop for an eye that didn’t have an ulcer. We went to UC Davis Veterinary a couple days later and had the best experience. They charged about $240 and spent 2 hours with our dog. They were very patient and ran a bunch of tests that correctly diagnosed my dog’s eye condition. Definitely go there for way better care that even costs a little less. Totally worth the drive.
