We have had 3 amazing experiences here. The staff is so kind, the office is clean and appointments are so quick. Dr. Fitzsimmons is the best vet we’ve seen with our puppy. She always makes sure every question is answered, she sits on the floor to comfort and play with your animals and I leave with a weight off my chest that my dog is healthy and was happy/never scared to go to vet! We came in one night, late, with an emergency and they took us right away, got started on treating our girl and called an emergency vet hospital to get us in ASAP with them. They also followed up with texts and calls to check on our puppy after we went to the vet hospital. Seriously love having such a good vet.

I want to extend a big shout out to Dr. Shannon Leary and her team, especially the nurse who was working today. A few weeks ago, I found a feral kitten living in a car engine. I was trying to take him to the vet, but my usual vet asked me to quarantine him for two weeks. When I went for my check-up at Spay Illinois this Monday, they refused to handle Benji, stating that he was too feral and too wild to be treated. They gave me medication to sedate him for the next visit, but I even had to sign a consent form acknowledging that if I came back with the cat in such a feral state, they wouldn’t be able to examine him and I would still be charged the fee.

This morning, my cat had a medical condition that required an immediate vet visit, so I found Bond Vet in Wicker Park. The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. A few hours later, I brought in Benji. To my huge surprise, he acted like a normal kitten—just a little skittish but totally manageable. I believe it's because of the magic touch of the new veterinarian. They have such a friendly and welcoming approach, and they obviously know how to handle cats, taking things slow and giving him time to adjust on his own terms.

I can't thank them enough because they saved us a few weeks of taming efforts. Now, Benji can be introduced to the rest of my cats at home and become part of the family. This place is extremely skilled and obviously feral kitten-friendly.

If I were to rate Bond Vet solely on the level of care provided by the doctor and the vet tech, I would give it a 5. The latter were wonderful, so much so that I was hoping to make Bond my primary vet. Disconcertingly, half way through the appointment, I realized that I and my animals were under video surveillance in the exam room. This upset me, to say the least, and really creeped me out. My cat had her mammary glands checked, as one was bleeding, and the kitten had her gender confirmed. This was all done under video surveillance; I was not informed of this when making the appointment, and neither did I consent to being recorded in the exam room, or to having my animals recorded while they were being checked out, turned upside down, sensitive parts exposed, etc.

When I called a few days later to speak to them about it, the woman who answered seemed to think that it was unreasonable for me to be upset that the exam room had a video camera in it. She told me that it was for their safety, and that it was also for my safety. She then emphasized that the lobby also had security cameras. I am accustomed to areas like lobbies having video surveillance, but a medical exam room The quote they gave me to have my cat spayed was in the range of $1,000. I would like to think that a facility that feels itself to be of such high caliber that they can charge that kind of money to spay a cat would also have top notch employees; personnel mature enough not to require governance by nanny cam.

To add to my discomfort, the cash payment I provided was not given change, so I said, okay, please credit the balance to my account. The woman who took my cash payment agreed to do so, hence my surprise a day or so later when I received a message from Bond stating that my account was unpaid. What?! I had to take time in the middle of the work day to call them, which I did as I was concerned that the money had somehow gone missing. When informed of the payment discrepancy, the front desk person said the account did not show that I paid $180 cash, and she said the “cash is in a lock box so I will have to to talk to manager”. She also told me that their system “handles cash differently”, whatever that means, and seemed to think that I should have somehow known that or anticipated that since I made the poor choice of paying with cash that issues were to be expected. I have zero tolerance for younger people who are in customer service roles of any kind and don’t even know how to count money, make change, or file payments correctly. I checked their website before going in to make sure that there was not the dreaded “card only” nonsense, and I even called to check if they took cash. I was told yes they took cash, and not yes, but expect it to be put in a lock box and forgotten about while we send you a payment overdue notice.

The front desk person did say she would speak to management about my concerns regarding being recorded, but this clinic seems to be on the new world order tip with lack of privacy and the “cash is trash” mentality, so I doubt I will go back. I am sad to say so, as their rates for emergency appointments are much more affordable than the 24/7 ER clinics, and the clinic was very nice and comfortable inside. I really liked the doctor and the vet tech, but taking video of my animals while they were being examed, and then trying to double charge me, may be too deterring to ever feel comfortable returning to Bond.

We took our dog to get a rabies vaccine yesterday. Our dog is very anxious and reactive. The staff was patient and quick. The prices weren't too high and they gave us a prescription for her anxiety as well.

I really do like this vet. I think walking in you get the impression that the clinic is aesthetically pleasing to the human eye and might be a little gimmicky with that trying to lock you in before you’ve seen the level of care..but the veterinarian I’ve met with is very warm, charismatic, knowledgeable, and professional. The vet techs are also experienced and want to offer a high level of care. The only thing I would suggest or inform another client to ask about is “what is this procedure going to look like and how can I be involved?” If you can avoid putting your animal in an unfamiliar situation and the techs also out of fear of getting bit, everyone is most happy. The techs know dogs but they don’t know yours, so advocating for your pet here is best and speaking up about what they would prefer is best as sometimes the routine of it all can cause us all to lose sight of the small details that make a difference for our individual animals. For blood draws, the pet is almost always most comfortable being held by the pet parent, and this goes for almost all other restraints that need to be done in the clinic. I think there is a lot of fear around getting bit by dogs in clinics because many dogs find these places scary, especially if they’ve lacked socialization and husbandry practice in locations/situations like this. This fear and anxiety from the clinic side can very easily (and does) transfer over to the dog/patient being seen. If dogs can read anything, it’s body language. The human tendency to coo and preen at our young to calm them often only informs the animal patient that “hey, you’re worried and you should be because I sound worried too.” Allowing the pet parent to make the best decisions about how to restrain and treat their animal can help keep all of the anxiety in the clinic to a very low for everyone involved: patient and medical professionals alike. All of this being said — my dog is a nervous breed and appears nervous af even during times when he is actually having fun lol. The clinic is very very receptive to requests to stay involved and stay with my dog through every procedure and this made a huge difference. While checking his ears, they allowed me to take him off the table and get him to “shake off” some stress before going back on the table for his other ear, and this really made a huge difference for my dog’s experience of this clinic and his opinion of all future vet visits in the future. Five stars to this staff for being receptive of my requests and understanding that while my dog comes off nervous, he is not going to bite and especially not if I’m the one restraining him. I love that I can get into this clinic very quickly if I need to, and they provide complimentary high quality real meat freeze dried treats for my pet to enjoy while he is there. Having a treat that my dog will actually take from strangers is one of the pillars of the reason this vet works for us.

The incompitance of Bond Vet may have reduced my pets lifespan. I also can't afford to keep my pet alive because of their prices. For the sake of your pet's heath, DO NOT GO HERE.

They failed to diagnose my pet so we missed out on valuble treatment time meanwhile her condition got worse. When they gave a diagnosis a month later (prompted by me), they recommended unnecessary tests and treatments, as confirmed by the new vet we went to. Also nobody can give medical advice besides their lead doctor. Like other reviews have stated, they are EXTREMELY expensive.

We are very thankful for treating our pup yesterday at Bond Vet in Wicker Park. The clinic was able to take us immediately, the service was very clear so as the pricing, they did a great job at making us comfortable and wanting to keep them as our primary vet. Our doggie already feels better and again we are very thankful for the same day appointment and great service.
