This is actually a very clean animal shelter compared to some of the other places I've been to, at least within the cat section. Although I think the cats could use more space and interaction and not be cooped up in cages all day, the cages looked and smelled fairly clean and the cats looked in pretty good shape (I didn't see the dogs). I got my 3-month-old kitten here and I would very much come back to adopt another! They take care of them and all their shots.

Adopted a fur baby 2019 and was informed and is written on his paperwork that he is 1 year old. Took to vet he's is 9 years young. Also came down with kennel cough as was checked by a vet. Sanitary issues should be addressed and followed up on daily. After reading other reviews it shows a pattern of poor sanitary conditions. I'm glad I saved my fur baby from here, even as a senior he deserves a second chance.

Shame on all of you who were involved in the situation and beat that dog to death and left that poor family without their childhood dog over a selfish man. Nobody should bring their business to this cruel place as they do not have the right intentions or seem to care about these animals. If it happened once who’s to say this hasn’t happened multiple times undocumented? Very disappointing and sad to hear that story and everyone who hasn’t heard it should. These animals don’t have a voice for themselves unfortunately.

This place isn't too bad, however, getting a return phone call has been near impossible. We adopted a puppy from this facility in December and she is an absolutely wonderful pup. However, to get scheduled for her spaying service we've attempted several phone calls and haven't received a single call back. The phone is never answered, always going to a voicemail box that seems to be an abyss. We paid to have this service done but it seems we'll have to find another place to have it done. Satisfied with my fur baby, disappointed with the responsiveness of the staff.

Ok so I knew someone that worked at the animal shelter for about 6 months as a temp, and thier experience there was terrible. They killed a canine dog without trying to get him to a proper rescue for said canines. The workers spent most of thier time there basically doing nothing, when they're supposed to be working. The place needs cleaned properly, they also leave out sharps, and the biohazard materials aren't disposed of properly. There was no proper ppe for workers there (including masks), the smell was atrocious no matter how much cleaning was done. Take your animals anywhere but here and please save as many from this place as you can. These people shouldn't even be trusted with these animals. The vet in the building though is a good veterinarian, wish he wasn't in the same building with these lazy workers.

And I had many terrible experiences myself, the workers were meh when I met them. Only a couple of them were nice to me, but the rest of the workers there seemed like they didn't even wanna deal with me at all and just wanted me to leave without telling me. When I went there a couple times to try and get help for my grandmother they were not helpful for two reasons. One, they never have any available because they're either being used by the workers themselves or they're already being used by someone else. Two, when I tried calling there the guy was kind enough to answer but they still didn't send an animal control officer even though I politely asked twice.

This place is absolutely awful. The staff seems to be lacking communication between one another and the women at the front desk seem like they’re only there to “earn” their paycheck. My fiancé and I are from South Bend and decided to take a 2 hour trip to this facility to adopt a dog that we fell in love with on their website. With the weird hours they have, we called in the morning to ask if the specific dog was still available and some other questions regarding adoption. My Fiancé was told that the dog was still there and she was rudely interrupted multiple times for the rest of the phone call. After our travel, we finally make it to the facility to find that THE DOG WAS ADOPTED THE DAY BEFORE. It’s insanely frustrating to do all the checks you should do before making a trip like this and still having the visit go wrong for something out of your control. The kennel keeper was kind enough to at least apologize on behalf of the very rude receptionist, and he let us look at other dogs. Which brings me to the next problem. This place is absolutely disgusting and is not suitable for any kind of living space for an animal. I get that most shelters will have a smell or be a little dirty here and there, but the dogs were stepping in their own waste and their food was spilled everywhere. Not to mention there are just piles of garbage all around the kennel. But we found a cute dog and they let us visit with the dog for a bit in the lobby. The kennel keeper said that she was very good with other animals and kids (which is good because we have cats). But I digress, a cat somehow escaped it’s cage and found itself in the lobby with the dog we were with. The dog instantly became curiously aggressive and was a no-go for us. I can’t believe that this staff would think that not only being lazy is okay, but also lying to potential pet owners about the animals behaviors. I can’t imagine what would have happened if we brought that dog home to our cats. This place seems to have a bad habit of lying along with lazy and dishonest staff who have no passion to take care of the animals that are there.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE...
