They are so kind and helpful!!! We have rescued 3 animals so far, and we will continue to rescue our animals from them! Christen was so knowledgeable, she helped us learn about the two most recent cats we rescued! Our family highly recommends Common Sense For Animals!

The staff and volunteers were very friendly and respectful. They have a turtle pond with huge turtles, a chicken coop with some healthy looking chicken, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs. Its a haven for animal lovers such as myself to walk into. The shelter is packed and the animals need adopting. Im hoping they're adopted out soon. Going back with my fiancee to volunteer and help them out.

Common sense for animals has a lot of talk about what a great place it is. I was never there in person, but I did speak with them over the phone, as well as other shelters in the area. All the shelters are full at this point, but this place works really hard to help out. They were exceptionally nice to me, and suggested different options for what I can do with a pet that I was trying to find a forever home for. They are a NO KILL SHELTER Which is what we are all looking for! …and I hear a lot of good things about them. So personally, I am giving them a four star and a big E for effort! I would highly suggest you give them a try.

I recently adopted a severly overweight cat from their shelter. The cat was not being given any special diet and gave her only dry food and as much as she wanted since they claimed "she didn't eat any sort of wet food" (not true). She had unkempt and matted fur in the back due to her excessive weight and unability to clean herself. There were also mats on her private areas full of urine and feces that the shelter did nothing about until I requested they try to shave off the mated fur the day of adoption. They attempted to shave it off but cut her in the process to the point where she was bleeding due to the progressed state of the mat. I have to give her regular baths and wipe her butt after she uses the bathroom since she is too big to clean herself. The shelter itself was in horrific condition. Feces and urine on the floor, cages of animals lining said floor, and the stentch was so unbearable I could barely breathe.

Moving on to the vet visit with Dr Blease:
We waited in the digusting waiting area (with minimal seating due to other benches being covered with stacks of boxes) for almost an hour after the scheduled appointment time. The entire time my boyfriend and I had a hard time breathing and felt nauseous due to the strong smell of urine and feces. The floor looked disgusting like its not cleaned regularly. We watched Dr.Blease emerge from one exam room, check his watch and have a vet tech corral him to the next exam room while saying "You'll be done soon," as if to speak to a child. It was unsightly and unprofessional. Finally after we got called back into an exam room, the vet tech asked us to wait for them to clean the exam table while we are just standing there in the exam room holding our (overweight) cat (thank god it gets cleaned at all). It took another 15 minutes once in the exam room for Dr.Blease to come in. To which he was clearly in late stages of dimentia. He spent a long time reading the chart and making non-sensical comments and repeating the same comments over and over again. My cat needed a few vaccines, to which it took the vet tech to grab the needle and medication and remind him several times to give my cat the shots. Dr.Blease was unable to take my cat out of the carrier (she wasn't scratching or resisting) or perform a physical exam without requesting my assistance handling her. He insists I feed my cat more "fat" and table scraps. Telling me outdoor cats can live to be 20 years old. He also rambled nonsense how cats used to live to be almost 30 years old "58 years ago" when he started his practice - which made no sense. He then rambled nonsense about him getting in trouble for assuming women are pregnant when they are not and how dogs can be dangerous to pregnant females so it's important he asks all women if they are (which he did for me even though I wasn't bringing in a dog). He then proceeded to ramble more nonsense about how tuna has too much mercury in it to be safely eaten by humans or animals. He then continued and stated how "McDonalds and other junk food today causes autism." To which I am autistic and this is an entirely ignorant and appalling and UNRELATED!

I wouldn't bring a dead fly to be treated by him, much less an animal you love or care about. He is giving dangerous and clearly uneducated/outdated advice to patients which may harm their animals.

This place is horrific and should be condemned. It lacks upkeep and the smell there is horrendous. The bedside manner of the Dr is beyond disgusting. I had to put my dog down after tragic circumstances and I could not be more disgusted with the behavior of the Dr as he was putting my dog down. He deemed it appropriate to share terrible stories with me regarding animal attacks during the time of putting my dog to sleep. It was wildly inappropriate and completely traumatic. I would never ever recommend this facility for any reason. Go somewhere else and hopefully the health dept shuts this place down permanently.

Not sure how dr Blease can confidently say he’s treating these animals to the best of his ability. These poor vet techs have to corral him everywhere because he is senile and doesn’t know what’s going on anymore.
I brought my cat in because he was coughing and having heart failure. This guy didn’t put a stethoscope to him and all the techs did was hold is 8lb elder body down to clip his nails because another cat BEFORE him scratched Blease and he got confused coming into the room accusing my cat of doing it. All they instructed me to do was a $200+ elder cat test (urine, blood, and stool sample) the next day he died.
Will never be returning and will never recommend this place.
I also had to wait over an hour past my scheduled appointment to be seen, twice. Unprofessional and uncourteous

In October of 2017, I adopted a spaniel mix. The shelter had given him the name Andy and he was transported there from the south. I initially went to the shelter, to volunteer for the day. That particular day, the shelter was flooded with dogs searching for a forever home. There were a multitude of puppy litters that were the center of attention, but the only thing grasping my attention was Andy. He had just arrived and showed many signs of previous malnourishment. He was not eating or drinking what the this shelter was providing for him and was shaking and very timid. I went home and could not shake the sad thoughts out of my head. I returned the next day, knowing I needed to be the solution to all the problematic things this dog has gone through. I adopted Andy and renamed him Oakley. From the first interaction up until now, our instant connection has only flourished and grown stronger. He has put on some weight, and is finally HEALTHY and LOVED. I am so grateful that Warren County's Common Sense Shelter has provided the assistance towards finding the forever homes to the dogs in need of them. Below are photos of him beginning from when I first adopted him versus now.
