I took my recently adopted cat, Mervin, to Companion Animal Dental Services for a full mouth extraction due to dental disease and stomatitis. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The team was incredibly thorough and clearly passionate about the pets they treat, providing a level of care that exceeded my expectations!

While they do book up quickly, I appreciated their willingness to accommodate our schedule by calling us when cancellations arose. Mervin received top-notch care, and their detailed, itemized cost breakdown was transparent and straightforward. I noticed a previous review mentioning concerns about the clinic “holding their pet until payment,” but it seemed that reviewer may not have fully understood the paperwork provided by the vet. The clinic clearly outlines their policies, and I had no issues in that regard.

Mervin's case had its challenges, but he ended up on the lower end of the initial quote, which was a pleasant surprise. The paperwork we received included clear instructions for pre-surgery medication, drop-off, and expectations for pick-up and payment. When I picked him up the Vet discussed the surgery and clearly outlined aftercare that I was responsible for. She made it clear that I could call if I had any questions or concerns as he was healing. We visited for the follow up and they did a thorough check and ensured he was healing properly.

The drive from Southern Connecticut was absolutely worth it for the excellent care Mervin received. I highly recommend Companion Animal Dental Services for anyone seeking compassionate and professional dental care for their pets.

Dr Herrman is outstanding. Superb care, welcoming, knowledgeable, and a great staff who carefully go through all possible costs with a hard copy to keep, complete with precise estimates. Never any surprises after the dental care has been completed.

I would highly recommend Dr Herrman and her staff for all the reasons the others gave.

Dr Herrman did a fine job of extraction of all teeth and very difficult reconstruction. I'm very grateful to her for taking such loving care of my Yorkie, Elvis. She is thorough, explains well, no surprises, is gentle with your pet, and with you. Responds fast if needed.

My dog is still seeing Dr Herrman for follow-ups.

Like someone wrote, it's essential to take your dog to Petsmart or vet regularly to brush their teeth if your pet won't allow you to do it. It will save you and your pet a lot of heartache in the end.

I had two Yorkies in my former country and never brushed their teeth, they ate the most expensive Science Diet and human food, occassional chocolate, never wet dog food. Their teeth were perfect until they died.

For some reason brushing pets teeth was never mentioned to us by their vets in my former country. It's not our culture where I come from to brush pets teeth.

Maybe the water is different there, nobody I knew of did it there and you don't hear of dogs having bad teeth there. I was surprised to hear Americans brush their dogs teeth. It must be the water and wet dog food here being the culprit.

Human food is actually good for dogs according to the famous dog whisperer, Cesar Melan. Check out his recommendations. I strongly recommend Science Diet pellets. Worth the extra expense.

I brought my 12 year old little old pup in for a consult, and felt comfortable right away with the care and concern that Dr. Herrman had for his wellbeing. She explained that he would need quite a few teeth removed. I can now see that just like us humans, our pets that are like family to us need the same dental care, and the amount of teeth that he lost could have been prevented if he had regular checkups. I felt the cost was very reasonable, and view it as had I taken him every two years, he probably would still have all his teeth. I highly recommend Dr. Herrman as well as her staff. Don’t wait if you have any concerns!

They hold your dog hostage until you pay and they do not bill you, they expect you to pay thousands on the spot which I was not expecting. I own a business and never demand large sums of money on the spot, I send an invoice and wait. And I am willing to work with people if they need to pay in increments. They would not listen to me as I was explaining I had to wait for money to transfer into my bank account and got very short with me as I was calmly explaining why I could not pay. I showed Jean my ID and promised to pay her ASAP, but my words fell on deaf ears. I had to open a card on the spot to pay for it, the saddest part is I would have paid them the next day when the money landed in my account but had to open a card because they aren’t willing to invoice or do partial payments. I understand fearing someone fleeing by night on you but that is what debt collectors are for, especially when you have my information and legal address. I’m leaving 3 stars because Jean did do a great job extracting my dog’s teeth, just the whole hostage dog until you pay is ethically wrong, as is expecting people to pay such large sums of money without working with them at all. Especially charging thousands and not being willing to send me a bill but expect that payment the day, and then being rude is ridiculous and left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Wonderful staff and very compassionate care. Dr. Herrman started treating our now adopted cat while we were fostering him. He had a very severe case of stomatitis and while other vets recommended he be euthanized, Dr. Herrman worked diligently to treat him and bring him back to good health. He’s here today because of her and her staff and I can’t recommend this place enough!
