It is new and clean. Doesn't smell bad and they have plenty of room for the pets to roam. Adoption hours open at 9am Each day. Good amount of people working there so the animals get taken care of adequately. We adopted on Tuesday.

I am extremely disappointed and concerned about the adoption practices at Converse Animal Shelter. Despite a well-documented history of animal cruelty convictions, this shelter allowed a known animal hoarder, to adopt both a puppy and a cat. This oversight is not only unacceptable but endangers the lives of these innocent animals.

It's clear that Converse Animal Shelter lacks the necessary diligence and care in their screening processes. As a community, we rely on shelters to protect and find safe homes for animals, not to place them in the hands of those with a proven record of neglect and abuse.

I strongly urge anyone considering adopting from this shelter to think twice and to seek out other reputable organizations that prioritize the well-being of their animals. This experience has been deeply troubling, and I hope that Converse Animal Shelter will take immediate action to prevent such incidents in the future.

Wow! Just wow! Ashley, Mercedes and Trailer (sp?) are phenomenal individuals with true hearts for furbabies. My family and I found ourselves in a strange predicament last weekend involving one of our beloved furbabies being surrendered to this facility by "friends". We were able to get there in time and have this sweet boy returned to us because of the care this facility and it's individuals offer. The help didnt stop there...knowing we were desperate to get our guy checked out by a vet, they went over and beyond by calling different offices with us to ensure he would be seen. THANK YOU ALL, our sweet kitty is now in a safe environment, eating , roaming and experiencing love and affection again because of you!

This facility is very clean, well organized and they are very caring about animals. Some of the reviews on here don't realize they are a CITY entity. They are only allowed to pick up animals in the city you pay your taxes to. Does not matter if you live in Converse if you pay your city taxes to SA or Bexar County. Just because they don't take your pet doesn't mean they don't care. If they are full they are full, you want to talk bad about someone or post hateful things then do it about the people that are not taking care of their pets to begin with and not the facility that is doing what they can to help.

Just adopted Malvis! The process was quick and easy. Staff were great. The place is well kept.

It was nice and clean. I was disappointed with the service because they had my dog there 2 days and I called the first day to see if they picked him up because his collar broke off and he got loose and was told no so my dog stayed there an extra day because I said he was a Chihuahua Pekingese mix she was picturing, I don't know a long haired dog.. it wasn't till someone messaged me on Nextdoor because I posted him missing.. sent me a screen shot of my dog on there Facebook page.. so be careful when your looking for your animals they pay them off there Facebook page..

Found two pups that were abandoned. Brought them home because they needed rescuing. My husband almost divorced me because we have 3 rescues already. Staff picked up the phone at 8 and let me bring the pups in!
