We had a good experience coming here for a regular wellness appt, the vet was kind and thorough and knowledgable, but I think I will be looking around for other options in the neighborhood that are more affordable without compromising quality. I just want to highlight that the prices here are much higher than the average costs of vet care I've seen elsewhere in (at least) the Upper West Side and Park Slope. Exam fee is $108, vaccines go for $75 each and a heartworm test of all things is $124. I feel like standard NYC exam fees are $95-105 so whatever, but I've never seen a vet charge more than $65 for a vaccine and $80 for a heartworm test. $124 would get you a basic blood panel done at my old UWS vet.

Update: While vet’s themselves are great, the front desk is advanced levels of awful. The practice itself is unaccommodating with disabilities and no longer process appointment requests online. After making an appointment weeks in advance I arrive only to find they had lost it. I’ll keep using them for my elderly kitties because the vets are invested in their care, but I’m taking my younger ones elsewhere.

Dr. Mathios and Dr. Tan are the best! Over the past many months my older cats have had a multitude of health issues, and they’ve both been knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate the whole time. Prices for veterinary care always seem expensive - but they aren’t disproportionately more than other providers in the area. I’m very grateful to live so close to such great care.

Really kind and positive experience here. My dog is not a fan of the vet and is stubborn, they handled him with such care and calm. Very happy they’ll be invested in his care!

We had to say goodbye to our dog Crinklecut this past weekend, but Crown Heights Animal Hospital gave him the absolute best care possible over the past 3 and a half years. The doctors and nurses are kind and compassionate, and we always had our questions and concerns heard and answered. We're grateful they are our neighborhood vet, and hope someday to return with a new four-legged friend.

The best vet experience I've had. The front desk staff are friendly and responsive. The vets are professional and great at what they do. The office doesn't over charge like Bond and when my cats procedure ended up being less invasive than expected they actually gave me a refund!

We've had three cats treated at this hospital, in situations ranging from routine checkups to emergency care to end of life care. In every instance, the medical and administrative staff has treated our animals and us with care and competence. We have never had to wait for more than ten minutes to be seen, and have always left the hospital feeling that complete attention and care had been paid to our guys.
Thank you, C.H.A.C., for everything so far, and for everything to come.

Six years and counting(!) since we have taken our pit bull, Sienna, to the family that is Crown Heights and Prospect Heights AH. She was originally a patient at PHAH but with the sister branch popping up a couple years later in our backyard we were so grateful for the close proximity and the same quality service.
I cannot articulate enough how wonderful the vets, office staff and medical staff is at these facilities. My husband just brought Sienna back from having her stitches removed and stated, “They are so lovely there”. He meant the staff not the other awesome patients. 😉

Although the office may seem small it’s run by big hearts who efficiently use the space. They are conscientious of not having too full of a house so that your pet feels comfortable in the waiting area. And waiting has never been an issue here. We are seen within a few minutes of our scheduled appointment.

Additionally, I am someone who likes to know what I’m in for monetarily—and what is preventative verses dire. The staff here keeps me updated at every annual exam on what they will be looking for in the coming year, and what I should be keeping an eye on. This helps me prep expenses. They also gave me a solid quote and timeframe on how soon after the annual blood work I would have to schedule the optional surgery. The quote was specific and detailed giving an explanation for one side of the fee range verses the other. So helpful.

Again, cannot say enough. Cannot be appreciative enough. But am so so so grateful to have the support and family vibe at Crown Heights AH. So is Sienna!!

I think the price is fair enough and they won’t give you any extra treatment that you don’t need. The doctor and her assistant were very nice and attentive. Would bring back my fur son for neuter next month. Looking forward to his new life.
