Cannot recommend Dogs Trust Glasgow enough. We adopted a beautiful older staffy and she's an amazing dog. Everyone loves her so much and the staff here were excellent in persevering with our two dogs to ensure Missy would integrate well. Just a brilliant place with the best people.

They really did nothing for the animals on our visit. Yes they are caring for them, but if they want to rehome any they need to not only care for the animals but engage with the public.

We arrived and there was no discussion as to what we needed, or offering of advice and discussion of what they had in. We were imeadiatly told only 1/3rd of their dogs were viewable and we should go and look at them. A good 1/3rd of those dogs were in covered windows meaning they were too sensitive to be viewed. None of those dogs met our needs, and there was nobody to discuss anything with.

We came out of the viewing area to be basically punted out the door. We had expected at some point to have a discussion as to our requirements; a chat about the forms we'd filled in for them; a productive interaction with experts as to what we should look for and a discussion as to how often that type of dog might become available.

We left with a disappointed, underwhelmed feeling. We didn't feel the dogs had been served well and we didn't feel we had been greeted with any enthusiasm. To be honest it had the feeling of folks enjoying looking after dogs, and not really wanting them to find new lives.

This was very much in contrast to West Calder, who were more pro-active, did have a chat with us and had recommended we pay the Glasgow branch a visit. To us, it was a waste of time and fuel. We are looking seriously, and didn't feel they were serious in return.

we are looking to rehome two border collies, we took them to our appointment for the "test" this was to see if the dogs would settle and could be put on and off the lead without issue , our first dog failed straight away because he was unsure of a stranger in a strange place , our 2nd dog failed after being kenneled and they tried to put him on the lead and he went to the corner of the kennel....while waiting i could hear judgy staff talking about "how can someone not want a dog like that". speaking of a previous person leaving heir dog.

upshot is we got a list of other dog sanctuaries with little advice or help.
i notice on the wall they has a sign boasting they had rehomed 23 dogs this year . no wonder when they are cherry picking perfect dogs. we felt 20 min is no time to judge a dogs behavior.

poor service all round

Recently adopted a very nervous dog from the Glasgow centre, it took lots of visits but with the help of the staff he grew close to us and is now snuggled up on the sofa. Staff are all fantastic and do a great job looking after and training the dogs, I wouldn’t get a dog from anywhere else now.
