Dr Sego was so nice. The staff was incredible. They had to come to the car to get to the puppy. He was so happy to see them and they were so kind can't wait to get his next group of shots. Great place nice people

Dr. Sego is genuinely caring about her furry patients. She shows empathy and compassion, while making sure her patients get the best care. My dog doesn't like visiting her, but I know they'd be best buds outside the clinic 😉

This review is of a visit a few years ago.
Probably my biggest regret as a dog owner was bringing my dog here when his paw was severely injured. He’s a big dog and had been playing with a much younger, much larger dog who pushed him onto a sharp piece of metal. He severed a tendon in his paw; two of his toes were sticking up and he had no control over them.
I bandaged him myself immediately and when I was able to get in to see the vet the following day, Dr. Sego and the tech were both pretty rough with my suffering dog. She took the bandages off and I was surprised to see that his toes were back in their correct position and he looked like he was beginning to heal. But she bent and pulled his toes in all sort of directions causing him to bleed profusely. She told me she would give him stitches. I was in my very early 20s and distraught with my dog’s injuries and agreed to whatever she said. $700 later, it’s as if I didn’t take him to the vet at all.
I took him to another vet a few days later and he said he didn’t see any stitches.
I was recently going through all of my dog’s records and came upon the bill for this visit. I’m charged for several injections and a couple of medications. There’s no mention of stitches or anything like it. I absolutely feel that I was taken advantage of.
I believe that had she not been so indelicate with my dog’s healing paw he would have recovered much better than he did leaving him in her care. The event greatly impacted his life as he was no longer able to go on long walks or play (tug or catch, his favorites) for more than a few minutes.

For those of you who care about your pets:
I rescued a beautiful little dog from the Sarasota SPCA. I made an appointment with Dr. Sego. I arrived early. Upon arrival I was not even greeted. I finally approached the desk and said I am here for my appointment. The woman at the desk handed me paperwork. I filled it out and she directed me to the back. The vet tech. and Dr. Sego came in and I said that he had been neutered and gave them all the facts about the dog. Dr. Sego did not introduce herself nor did she ask my pet's name neither did her assistant. She took my dog's temp and weighed him. She insisted on a heart worm test. I told her he had one and the Sarasota SPCA was quick to fax the results. This backed her into a corner so she was unable to charge me for the test. She neglected to check the site of his surgery. In fact she treated me and my dog very unkindly. I queried if they would be able to clip his nails. The vet tech grabbed my dog and returned in less than sixty seconds without saying a word. When she returned he was so frightened he urinated in the corner. She threw down a paper towel and slammed the door. Clearly, I was quick to clean it. I was given no explanations, no insight .... NOTHING. Upon checkout I was charged ( outrageously) for the nail trim without being told the price beforehand. Furthermore, I was given no information other than " We will send you reminders." I would not suggest that anyone bring their pet to this vet. I was treated unkindly and my dog who has suffered enough trauma didn't need any more. Rarely do I give poor reviews. However, this is unfair. It was not a proper treatment. My dog is my family and the way we were treated was despicable. Etiquette is ever so important and an actual exam would have been proper. I am highly disappointed. Find a better Vet. Find a better person. Best wishes!
