Kitty was keen promptly and treated with care and compassion. The diagnosis was a returning bout of cancer and there was no push for expensive treatment and no push for palliative care. Very even-handed which I appreciated. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.

When we moved to Ashland in February 2024, we needed a new vet for our dog, Coby, as he was due for vaccinations. We also wanted to ensure we had a vet nearby in case of emergencies. During our first visit, Coby received his wellness exam, all his necessary shots, and we never had to return after that.

At the appointment, the veterinary technician recommended a Pet Wellness Plan. She explained it in detail, highlighting its benefits, including the assurance that in the event of an emergency, our dog could be seen for urgent care on the same day. It sounded like a great deal since we were guaranteed urgent care if we ever needed it, so I signed up on the spot, paying $610 for a year of coverage. (Which is not cheap at all when you still have to pay for any services you might need)

Fast forward seven months: Today, Coby began shaking, panting, and acting very out of character. Concerned, I called the vet for an emergency appointment, but to my shock, they told me they had no availability for the next two days. Despite explaining that it was an emergency, the receptionist remained indifferent and extremely rude. When I reminded her about the wellness plan and the money I had already invested, she still refused to accommodate us, told me I could bring him to a nearby hospital, and then hung up on me.

I called back twice—no answer the first time, and when she finally picked up, I asked to speak to the practice manager. She informed me the manager wasn’t available, but I could leave a message. After more back-and-forth, she told me I could come in and wait with no guarantee my dog would be seen, or someone could call me back later.

DO NOT TRUST THIS PET HOSPITAL. They clearly only care about taking your money and offer no real support when it matters. Very disheartening that during a REAL emergency they clearly just don’t care. I’m now going to be calling every single day until I can speak to someone about how unhappy I am and how I want to be refunded for something I paid for and never used.

After reading other reviews it’s clear they only reply to the good reviews, and NEVER acknowledge their unhappy customers. They could care less about these animals.

Our three pups have been patients at The Family Pet Hospital for two years and we love them. The staff is wonderful and I completely trust the vets with my pets' health. Anytime we've had an urgent matter, the clinic has found a way to see our friends, even on packed days. Cannot recommend this clinic enough!

I brought my dog in because we THOUGHT he got bit by a bee and was having an allergic reaction. Instead of draining the abscess we were told to just take him home with steroids and Benadryl. It was OBVIOUS it was an infection and Benadryl was not going to do ANYTHING. Steroids also shut down the dogs immune system, so it just kept getting worse. She also took a sample of the abscess to test for cancer cells but it came back negative. Which makes no sense because a tumor doesn’t grow 0-100 OVERNIGHT. Also why couldn’t you just drain it for us He was also a regular patient with regular blood tests, cancer would have been caught. The abscess popped, because my dog was uncomfortable and scratching it which caused it to get infected. After telling her he had open wounds, she said she had no availability to see him. Our dog had to go to tufts and receive surgery. He is fine now, but we are really disappointed with this place. Also during his visit, we asked for clarification on the (steroid) medicine he was prescribed and she told us it’s all on paper it’s all there it’s all there. Instead of explaining to us. Very unprofessional, lack of empathy, lack of patience and dismissive.

Our cat Gambit went into sudden heart failure, and was diagnosed with kidney failure. With the aftercare we received at Family Pet Hospital we were able to get him out of heart failure and were gifted an amazing 4 extra months with him. The love, empathy, and pure kindness the entire staff showed was more than could ever be expected of a vet practice. They treat their patients (and patient families) with respect and professionalism.
Any time I have had a question I have never hesitated to ask, as I know they will answer it fully and helpfully regardless of how small.
We now have a kitten (an actual lunatic) and FPH continues to set the bar for veterinary care for me. They accept Randi for being too spicy and still show the same dedication, respect, and kindness to her even if she sucks.

The Family Pet Hospital is fantastic. Our dog has been going to FPH for her vet care, grooming, day-care, and boarding since she came home nearly 3 years ago. Every single member of the team at FPH is kind, competent, and caring. Top 3 reasons to go to FPH for your pet:
1. Staff - the Veterinarians, the Vet-techs, front-desk staff, day-care staff, groomers - everyone truly cares about the dogs and cats that walk in through the door. I can see that by how much our dog clearly has a bond with all of them, and how much she wants to go in the door whenever we're there. This is remarkable for a place where the dogs get all their shots with scary needles and get groomed.
2. Competence: everyone knows their job, wants to do it well, and show up to work everyday with skill and engagement. I've never had a single interaction with FPH where I thought they didn't care or they didn't know what they're doing.
3. At a time where the costs of pet-care is up across the board, FPH's prices are fair. They seem to charge what they need to in order to run a well-managed organization that takes care of its staff.

The receptionist is amazing but so far our experience with the judgmental vet techs who have no idea what they’re talking about is ridiculous. Literally walked out mid appointment because they were shaming me very loudly to the vets who weren’t any nicer on the other side of the door. They seemed shocked that I could hear every word they were saying. I have two sphinx cats a 1.5 year old and a 1 year old, everyone knows sphinx have a build up of oil all over and there ears and toes can get bad if not cleaned weekly. Well I’ve had a rough month and haven’t had the time and they treated me like I knew nothing about my cats which is untrue and spoke to me like I was stupid. I will not be returning and going somewhere that has actual knowledge of the breed. It’s disgusting how they treat people especially with the amount of money we have to spend there to make sure our babies are healthy.

Love that they have a separate entry for cats, no stress from dog encounters & it helps keep the kitties calm. The staff was friendly and thorough and quick. My cats were more upset about the car ride over than their experience!
