My daughters and I had a wonderful experience at GHAM. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My daughters found a cat that they fell in love with, and we adopted "Heart" now Biscuit that very day. They took their time going over everything, and the facility was clean. I would absolutely adopt another pet from them!

They will harass you and basically make you think you have no rights. They help their selfs in ur home without and real proof or warrants they give you tickets with no proof of any neglect just to steal your money. They abuse their power. They think they are above the law they think they are government and can come in your house anytime they want without ur permission. They like to lie and make up stuff on people they give tickets for neglect on animals without any real proof and they are doing all while putting down the animals that are supposedly neglect all bc they are sick with a respiratory infection. These people are trying to be something they aren't. They are only a animal shelter trying to do stuff a government agency does just with out proof or a warrant they think the laws dont apply. Not to me but a person i know im putting this review bc they dont know how. The animal shelter in hancock County need to be turned in. They are violating peoples rights that are vulnerable and dont know the law. They are very unprofessional how they are treating people having people drive by their home just to harass them looking in windows to try to have something on them. Making what they call surprise visits no thats invading ur privacy. Remember you all are just animal control not the government ur not above the law. Im talking this person into taking legal action. You all need to be shut down. Your not above the law. They say they dont have authority to take cats from a home but yet was forcing someone to give up their animals or threatened. Im talking about who ever does the home visits and or complaints. Hancock county system is all liars and crooked. They will violate your rights and not care and give u fines or whatever they can to make u look like the one in the wrong so the person wont win or have a case. There is alot more the animal shelter has done but this is just some. They know what they are doing but the people they do it to doesn't know any better unfortunately. This is not false. Story can be backed up with their intimidating letters and more. These city officials are getting out of control.

Wow.. I called to setup a meet with 1 of the dogs they had listed on pet finder. I spoke with Megan who clearly needs to find a different profession or work on her communication skills. She was rude & trying to talk over me when I was questioning some of their adoption process. Due to that we will be adopting elsewhere. I would recommend looking into another facility with friendlier staffing services cause this ain't it!

We adopted our last 2 dogs from here a couple of years ago and now they no longer allow adoptions outside of the county for whatever reason. I was met with a rude front desk person named Megan that couldn't explain to me why this was. I always donated and shared pics with the shelter but unfortunately, I won't any more. It's a shame that they post about animals that have been there for an extended period of time and seeking homes and when someone is interested in them, they can't adopt them because they live in the next county. If this is the case, then why are they on Pet Finder?

On June 18th I had a black Pit Bull in my yard. I already own 2. Due to not knowing this dogs demeanor my Son called the Sheriff's Department. 5 Sheriff Vehicles came out and no one could capture this dog. My Son wore him out long enough to get a leash on him. The Hancock County Sheriff's Department told me if I could hold him in my Garage "overnight" I could take him to GHAM at 8am tomorrow morning. We'll, low and behold they were closed for Juneteenth and I ended up having to keep him another day and overnight. Recalled the Sheriff's Department and they said take him to GHAM this morning 6/20/24 ~ I was greeted extremely rud and the staff is disrespectful. They said they didn't have room for him. I informed them I was specifically told by the Sheriff's Department to bring him here. GHAM said they aren't affiliated with the Sheriff's Department and they never should have told me that. I told them this dog had been all over Greenfield Gabber, he's eaten people's chickens, he's attacked other dogs etc. Well GHAM just checked his microchip and called to owner. Excuse me ~ That owner is neglectful and let's the dog just run. We have a leash law in Hancock County. GHAM doesn't even follow their own policies. I adopted 2 dogs from the 5 and 7 years ago. Wow! What a difference and not in a good way. I do NOT recommend them to anyone as they are no help. If you return a dog that you're facility has already had twice ~ You're not doing very well at your job nor do you care anymore about the well-being of the animals. I'm glad I got my rescues when I did. They don't care if the dog is being abused, neglected etc. This finds me frustrated and sad for any animal that is in this situation because GHAM isn't helping stop/prevent anything ~ They simply make you question what they are even there for.
GHAM ~ Follow the rules or close your business! If this dog is found in my yard again I will take him to a better, kinder facility.

As far as you can control I would adopt from somewhere else.
A lot of the people are nice but one in particular has been nothing but rude.
We adopted a dog that ended up being sick, spent close to a thousand just getting him diagnosed and then he got sick again and we couldn't afford it. We were making arrangements for finding him a new home and they wouldn't let us because we needed to give him back. The lady was so rude saying that no one would be available to give him his medicine and it just didn't seem like she cared about him at all. He is still there now.

What a joke!! The lady that answered just hates her job. Poor animals. Hancock county do better with this entity. They won’t even help us trap and sterilize stray cats but tells us Hancock county doesn’t allow Ferrell cats. Oh the logic.
