Over the past year we have taken four of our pets here for various issues - an animal bite wound, chronic arthritis, a broken tooth, a badly broken toe nail, bloodwork, dental cleaning and exams. All of our experiences have been outstanding!

The office staff - Sophie, Chelsea and Esme, (besides all being smart and beautiful :), are exceptionally kind, friendly, patient and efficient. Dr Flores is very caring and gentle with our animals. And, he definitely knows his stuff. He takes the time to listen, does not mind if we ask a ton of questions and he always offers reasonable treatment options.

This is not one of those vet offices' whose main priority is to make a buck! Here, they look out for both your animals best interest and yours. It's so refreshing to leave a vet visit feeling upbeat. In the past, we would leave a vet office feeling exhausted from being apprehensive regarding the care of our pet and/or being taken advantage of.

We really like coming into this vet - the techs are all extremely kind and friendly and go out of their way to help, even just over the phone. Even though there isn’t currently a permanent vet, we’ve had really good care with the relief vets (and we appreciated that the one we’ve mainly seen is very current on research, diets, etc!). For regular care for mostly healthy pets, this is a great place to come!

If you have an emergency or a pet with a serious condition who needs to be seen frequently and by the same vet each time, you’ll probably need to go down the hill — but for ordinary care, this is a great place where you’ll feel like your pet’s care and comfort (and your concerns, too) are prioritized. Taking care of your best friend daily. I was happy about so much there. Even though there was a problem with her knee she was healthy other wise. I appreciate the candor and maybe some day have enough money for surgery.

We were very satisfied with our experience. They were able to see us today, and took excellent care of our kitty. Dr Schultz explained everything clearly and was very caring, as was her assistant. Price was reasonable.

Dr. LaPorte has always provided excellent care for my 4 dogs. He is fast, efficient, knowledgeable and doesn't try to upsell unnecessary procedures. I am very pleased to have a vet right here in Julian that I can count on!

I have to say I was excited about our new vet... my dog was chewing and chewing her paws and I took her to our vet... $142.00 later she gave her a non steroidal shot... prescribed gabapentin because she said it was anxiety... and antibiotics for her "irritated " skin... about 4 -5 days later I called, my dog could hardly walk and I couldn't hardly keep her from chewing her paws... They didn't have time that day... the doc never called back... had her assistant take my call the next morning saying it's a behavioral problem and gave me the number for a behaviorist. That evening I was in urgent care with my dog down by Clairemont/Kearny Mesa... (an hour and a half away) my dog had 3 foxtails in 3 of her 4 paws!!!!! I cried... this vet said don't beat yourself up they were in there... I have magnifying lights and assistance... I called Julian vet immediately and told the assistant what happened And chastised them for being in a place like Julian not able to find Fox tails in a dogs paw and the suffering my dog had been through. To this day the doctor has never called me back. The amount of suffering that not only I went through but my poor dog... I won't be back again... I go to High Valley in Ramona.

They do a great job! General practice in a small town can be challenging, but our our cats have been well cared for. Dr LaPorte is good with cats for sure.
