Kalvig & Shorter is hands down the best vet experience we’ve ever had! Dr. Kalvig and Dr. Kalogreas are incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and have a bedside manner that puts both pets and owners at ease. Our 14-year-old cat, Hampton, is notoriously anxious at the vet, but they make every visit smooth and stress-free. The office is calm and welcoming, and Christopher and Kevin at the front desk go above and beyond—always following up after visits to check in. If you’re an anxious pet parent looking for top-tier care, KSV is the place to go!

I’ve had 2 bad experiences here. First with Dr Kalvig who gaslit me. She told me she would talk to her partner and get back to me about my pet. She never did. In fact she had an aggressive staff member call me back and ask me what I’m talking about. Dr Kalvig never took accountability for her actions. I should’ve never went back but I had an emergency and they were the only ones available.

The second time I wasn’t even given a diagnosis after spending $700. When they do bloodwork they don’t do a full exam. They want to charge extra for checking the thyroid and white blood cells. I went to another vet that included all of it in the bloodwork. KSV just wanted to keep charging for different exams and mind you they are very expensive. I feel scammed and I’m never stepping foot there again no matter what the circumstance.

The love of money trumps the love of truly caring for your pet here.

Dear Dr. Kalvig and Dr. Shorter,

I wanted to thank you again for providing me with such a valuable learning experience over the past few weeks to volunteer at KSV. Veterinary medicine has always been a field that I've been greatly interested in as someone who loves animals and science, but I've never had the opportunity to interact with anyone in this profession. How could I say that becoming a vet is my dream if I know nothing about it? So, I emailed and called about twenty vet clinics asking about shadowing opportunities last summer, but KSV was one of the few who responded. I grasped onto that "maybe" hard, called and texted the practice repeatedly (I'm sorry if I was annoying!), and it took me here!

Both of you have provided me with a well rounded experience in veterinary medicine from a variety of different perspectives. Dr. Kalvig taught me how to interact with patients and owners with professionalism, patience, and care, whereas Dr. Shorter taught me about various instruments while explaining the science behind medical and surgery procedures in detail. It was also wonderful to meet, talk to, and shadow the rest of the KSV team. I greatly appreciate everyone for their patience and openness as they welcomed me into KSV and shared stories of how they became involved in the veterinary profession.

I look forward to returning to KSV during my holidays, and I wish the best for you two and the rest of the KSV team in the meantime.

Thank you,
Amy

I have been a client of Dr. Kalvig and Dr. Shorter for over 25 years. Their knowledge, compassion, professionalism, availability are superb! They have cared for my 3 dogs and I can't say enough about them. People should have the care that they give to animals! Their staff is always professional and friendly. Dr. Kalvig and Dr. Shorter also help to train people interested in veterinary care.

Dr Kalvig has been our vet for over 20 years. She's very profession and caring + nice to me + my dogs. The offices are clean + nice + I even board my dogs there when I travel. Her staff are so nice to my dogs when I'm away that I almost feel no guilt in leaving them.

We love Dr. Barbara Kalvig and this practice. Sadly just had to switch locations due to moving. I combed through so many different vets/reviews before making my first appointment here and highly recommend. My dog was so excited to come to the vet each time, which has been the opposite experience at other locations where he is shaking and extremely anxious. The office is clean and staff/vet are communicative, gentle, and intelligent. All my emails and calls were answered quickly. Kevin especially was great - so kind, caring, and patient. Thank you K&S!

My 3-year old Shichon has been a happy patient of this vet practice during my business trips to New York City. The veterinarians we have seen have all been super kind and knowledgeable, and everyone has been really helpful to us while traveling. The level of service and compassion that this group provides to people and their pets (I know many of them) is excellent. I appreciate their follow-up calls to check on Quincy after each visit while they provide prompt f/u information to my regular vet back home. I feel so lucky that one of my co-workers referred me to KSV!

From the moment you call to the moment you leave everyone is just so incredibly kind, smart and helpful.
My Tri-pod cat Oliver has been so well taken care of by Dr. Kalvig and her colleagues. They follow up all the time-they return calls all the time and they put you at ease all the time! It is so evident that everyone who works there loves animals! I highly recommend them and will never worry if something happens to Oliver because I know he will be so well taken care of!!!!
