Recently I visited Live Oak Veterinary Hospital, I am thoroughly impressed with the exceptional service and staff. from the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth, kindness and professionalism. The reception staff was attentive and efficient, ensuring that my cat and I felt comfortable right away.

Dr Mitch Luce and technicians are knowledgeable and compassionate, taking the time to explain every aspect of my cats care in detail. they demonstrated genuine concern for nova’s well-being, providing thorough examinations and answering all my questions patiently. their expertise is evident, and I felt confident that nova was in the best hands.

The clinic itself is clean and well-equipped, reflecting their commitment to maintaining a high standard of care. additionally, the follow-up care and communication were excellent, ensuring my cat’s recovery was smooth and monitored closely.

Overall, I highly recommend Live Oak Veterinary Hospital for your veterinary care. the combination of skilled staff, exceptional service, and a welcoming environment makes it a standout choice for pet owners.

Thank you Mitch Luce for taking care of my cat!

The “Practice Manager” is the most unprofessional person you can imagine. They will also charge you exorbitant rates, but then come down in price, and then charge more afterwards. The actual vets and technicians are great, but the staff that works for them in their offices are horrible. If you can’t afford their pricing for their services, they will suggest that you need to re-home your pets as well, implying that you can’t afford pet ownership. Most folks don’t plan for a $1500 surgery for their pets, and a vast majority of folks can’t whip out that kind of cash to due surgery same day.
Side note edit after the response from the owners girlfriend or the manager, as Mitch Luce is awesome, and he is the actual owner of the business. Dr Luce did NOT perform the surgery. His brother did, while he was on vacation. I did not request the surgery to be done at discounted rate, I was called back and the surgeon offered to do it at that price. I asked if I could come back monthly to make up the difference in charges, and said I understood it was a business that needs to make money, and was flat out told no. The ONLY thing I suggested be done, was to be advised of further costs would be initiated upon return to have the staples removed. I was more than willing to pay your fee for vaccines, and HAD budgeted for that. I was not advised would be another $55 for the staple and suture removal that day until it was time to check out. Furthermore, I payed $175 prior to the surgery for Brock to be seen where I was told it would require 6-8 stitches. And since we want to play let’s see who can owe further, let’s do it. On the low end of things for this surgery, the charge per minute for the surgery was estimated to be $14/minute. That’s $840/hour, which translates to $6720 per day, for surgeries. Just for surgery’s alone, if done the equivalent of 40 days total per year comes out to $268,800/year.

I took my Yorkipoo dog that I rescued to Live Oak Vet 6 yrs ago for a checkup and vaccinations. I was informed he needed his teeth cleaned. It was very expensive so I looked around. Twain Harte Vet would clean his teeth for $200 less so I decided to go to Twain Harte Vet. The Vet at Live Oak called me to ask why I was going to a new vet and I explained that my dog could get his teeth cleaned for a lot less money. I was never offered a better price. After 3 yrs we decided to travel internationally with our dog, but couldn’t get the proper paperwork completed and signed by the FDA that was required in time for our trip. Twain Harte Vet told me to contact Tuolumne Vet Hospital which I did and was able to get all the paperwork done for international travel. Our wonderful and kind vet passed away this year and the only other vet that was authorized to complete paperwork for international travel was Live Oak Vet. My dog was denied services when I tried to make an appointment and I was told since I was not a “stable customer” (they didn’t like the fact that I had changed vets because of what could be done or not be done with each one although my bill was ALWAYS paid in full before I left) they were not going to provide any services to my dog ! My husband and I saw an ad in the Sierra Rep program after we were denied services that they were advertising for new clients. My husband applied online for an appointment and provided his phone number. They called ME and were NOT happy that we had done this since they had already denied our dog services. They were rude, and insensitive to my reasons as to why we had moved to different vets. I now have a wonderful vet Dr. Tanya Grant with Columbia Vet and she comes to your home to provide minor services or provides you with referrals to other vets for more involved services. She is also accredited with the FDA which certifies your pet for international travel. Whoever is making these decisions and judgement calls at Live Oak Vet ( I was told the office manager) should NOT be allowed to work there and I truly hope the Dr there reads my post and does something about this situation!

The absolute worst service I have ever experienced. The staff is soo unfriendly and rude. I confirmed my appointment with the front desk person on Friday about Monday and I show up on Monday. They proceeded to become very rude to me after my dog was seen even though the front desk person obviously made a mistake. Do not take your animals there they are rude and completely do not know what they are doing. They even printed out the wrong information I requested!

We LOVE Live Oak Vet! They treat our pets how we would want them to be treated, are understanding of their needs, helpful with care recommendations, and as accommodating as they can be for a vet that’s very busy! Reception is always very kind, and they call to confirm appointments and even though we’ve had to reschedule appointments in the past for one reason or another, they are always understanding and kind. Cannot recommend enough. Best vet in Tuolumne county

Live Oak Veterinarian Hospital and Dr Luce are awesome. I am new to the area and one of my fur babies needed emergency treatment for an injury. I called them on a Tuesday morning and they got us in within a few hours, treated the wound and even called the next day to check on my little girl. I was very impressed grateful.
