I’d like to give negative 5 stars. Worst customer service. They don’t collect your bins. When you call to alert them that they missed your bin for collection. …they give you a confirmation number then they will close out that number so that they don’t have to pick up your trash at all. …. Then you have to call back. Wait online and explain your trash was never collected. …and they will tell you that you have to wait another two days which basically brings you to your next week of your regular collection. You don’t get a reduction in your bill you keep getting charged, but you have no service. The sanitation department is filled with quiet quitters.

I want to publicly thank my collectors. My green can was stolen by an illegal pot shop next door and filled up with smelly trash. Before I found my stolen green can loaded up with garbage I ordered a new green can. It was delivered the day after my next collection date. In the meantime I found the stolen green can and asked my black trash can truck driver to take the garbage out of the green can and he was very friendly and agreed. I know that was beyond the rules but since it wasn’t my fault I truly appreciated his act of kindness. Well done LA San

I had a horrible customer service experience at the Los Angeles Glendale S.A.F.E Center. A misunderstanding was escalated by a "supervisor" by pointing his phone camera at me and accusing me of illegal dumping as I was standing by my stuff. He declined to give me his name and his supervisors name to file a complaint. He did not have consent to video record me. The facility has cameras so what was the need for the "supervisor" to use his phone camera. If this "supervisor" is not able to address issues as they arise and only makes them worse...god helps us all that we have to deal with such poor customer care and abuse.

Now I have reached out to the Bureau of Sanitation, left messages and no calls returned. So disappointing.

Updating my review. After several calls, tweets and even commenting on Twitter--the LA Sanitation Bureau has handled my issue. I'm going to give them 3 stars now, although it shouldn't have taken so long to get fixed. It took several months before it was resolved. I suppose I finally spoke to the right person who got things done. My advice to anyone who has problems is to go to Twitter. I tried the regular route but finally going to Twitter to complain got things fixed. I hate to be that aggressive--but this situation had called for it. The only reason I had left the review below was sheer and utter frustration but I want to update people and let them know that my issue was finally resolved.

Worst customer service ever. I call nearly every other week b/c they don't pick up my trash--or any of my neighbors. You wait on hold forever, and they say they'll come back the next day to collect your trash (which never happens) and there's absolutely no reason for it. There's nothing blocking the trucks, they just forget to go down our route almost every week. Nothing is ever done about it.

I called last Wednesday and told the Sanitation dept that someone stoled my black trash can They told me they would only pick up black big trash bags which I never use. so I spent 10.00 for a box of black trash bags. Today is Wednesday and my black trash bags are still on the curb and it is 5:30pm. I called and they changed their story. Yes a new black trash bin will be there tomorrow, Thursday September 28 and that they will pick up my black trash bags. I wait to see if they do. They told me they would pick the bags up today. Hopefully Thursday they will pick them up and I will get a new trash container. What I want to know is, WHY would someone steal my trash container

Collector misses up to half of my street sometimes and makes a huge mess in the street. Over the years I feel like I work for DWP cause I have to spend so much of my time on the phone to get my trash picked up regularly.
We have no choice but to use them for trash in Los Angeles, but they operate by their own rules.
This is wrong, if it were a private trash company the city would cite and fine them for all kinds of infractions, but since they are a government mandated monopoly, no fines and no accountability.

They missed only our black trash bin on the entire street and when I called (after waiting 30 Mins for a representative) they said it would take another 1-2 business days for our missed trash bin to be picked up. I told her the trash is very full due to pickup day already being late 1 day due to New Year’s Day and being it is Friday this means it would not be picked up until Monday or Tuesday. I told her I needed the trash picked up tomorrow but she only stated that their policy is 1-2 business days.

This week Aug. 22, 2019 trash pick up day. The driver picked up all the black cans in condominium complex except for 8 units #1931-1945 on Mount Shasta Dr. Called the main office the same day and again next day, was told that the trash will be picked up in 2 working days, which should have been on Thursday. today is Fri. evening and no pick-up. Somebody in the department is not competent in doing their job.
