Exelente servicio, muy rápido mi hijo tuvo una reacción alérgica y lo lleve ala sala de emergencia. Mi primera vez ahí y fue muy buena la atención de todo el personal no tuvimos que esperar ni 5 minutos para recibir atención.

Probably THE WORST ER experience I have ever had. It’s essentially a third-world facility with first-world pricing. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the staff was more concerned with collecting payment than with my well-being. There was absolutely no empathy or compassion for patients.

The doctor didn’t even bother to examine me properly; he just directed which tests to run without any real engagement. Despite the hospital not being particularly busy when I arrived, the staff seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves—planning trips to Italy, joking about the ice cream in the cafeteria—completely ignoring the patients. It was frustrating and disheartening to see them so relaxed and inattentive when people were clearly in pain and distress.

I was experiencing kidney pain and asked for water, only to be told no in case I needed surgery. When I finally decided I’d had enough and was leaving (after five hours of waiting), they brought me water—with ice. Anyone with basic medical knowledge knows that room temperature or slightly warm water is healthier, especially in such situations.

The ultrasound process was equally disconcerting. It felt like one of the technicians was being trained on the spot, which did nothing to reassure me. After the ultrasound, they told me it would be at least another hour before I could get my results. At that point, I was so frustrated that I removed all the monitoring equipment and informed the doctor that I was leaving. I left with the same pain and the same uncertainty about the root cause.

I asked if we could discuss the results over the phone, and the doctor assured me that it would be possible. But when I called back after an hour, I was told they couldn't disclose any results or discharge instructions over the phone because they couldn’t verify my identity. Yet, moments later, I received a call from CVS saying a prescription was ready—though I had no idea what it was for.

To top it all off, I was completely misdiagnosed. After a week of doing my own research and consulting with other medical professionals, it turned out that I had water poisoning. The entire experience was a nightmare from start to finish.

If your case allows, I highly recommend driving the extra mile to go to Saint John’s. It’s a completely different level of service and care—everything this ER lacks. Save yourself the frustration and the potential harm of being misdiagnosed.

My husband had back surgery here last week. His spinal surgeon, the vascular surgeon and anesthesiologist were all great. Most of the nurses were kind. But the nursing assistants, security and other general staff members were awful. They treat visitors as if they are trying to get into a prison, vs seeing a sick loved one. But the most awful were the accommodations. This is truly a dirty hospital. I cannot believe it has the Cedars Sinai name. The bathroom in my husband’s hospital room reeked of urine from the moment we arrived. We asked if it could be cleaned twice and it never was. The wall paper was literally peeling, there was hair stuck to the walls and the baseboards were disgusting. The blinds were broken and the bedside table wheels didn’t work. The entire wing we were in should probably be torn down. See pictures for examples.

A slightly better hospital than others...

This hospital doesn't seem to have much of a homeless problem but it definitely suffers from wait times.

The amount of time you can wait for is 30 mins to 3 hours at most and it can really be a deal breaker coming here.

Here's my specific problem that may be read by people that work here.

This place is the only real place that can see me "instantly" as my PCP cannot see me in 2-3 days as I am not rich in any way and cannot afford any decent health insurance. So when I show up I feel mocked by the staff to try to get any help rather than waiting for 3 weeks trying to schedule anything with my PCP.

That's just sadly how California works and I wish the staff could understand that.

The staff has changed since the pandemic and seem to have taken the pandemic attitude with them but it's still an "okay-er" hospital than most.

The strangest ER experience I have ever had.. Not the best experience.. If I discover that you have retaliated against me in any way, which I will discover if you try to indicate in my medical records that I'm a "problem patient" or something similar using your internal vernacular, then I will be making a lot of money after the lawsuit.. I know how you people work.. Don't you even consider putting my life in jeopardy because you don't like the review.. There seem to be more homeless at this hospital than normal insurance carrying people, to the point where regular hard-working people might not be getting good service.. Also, there is a large security presence, and you almost feel like you're going into a jail and not a hospital.. I have good insurance and I pay quite a bit a month for that coverage, and I'm expecting to be treated a whole lot better than some vagrant with a paper cut who is sleeping in the lobby and using the ER as their personal bedroom.. I had to meet the doctor in the receiving area beyond the lobby because they gave my room to someone else.. Also my interaction with the doctor, and there only seemed to be one doctor on staff, on a Friday evening, made me uncomfortable.. I didn't have any privacy and the doctor did not ask any questions, but instead stood there while I talked about my situation and after 5 minutes of my explaining to her what's been going on with me, which I know for a fact she did not absorb in any way, and the guy who was supposed to be taking notes next to her, didn't take any notes, and instead just stared at me the whole time.. What the hell is that?!.. The doctor could have met me and immediately just told me the situation with my test results, instead of listening to my story which I can guarantee she can't recall at all today.. It was stupid.. It was bizarre.. Next time I come to this ER, which I will, because I have been living down the street from this hospital for the past 30 years, its not going to go the way it went this time.. I'm going to be very vocal and you nice people will get an ear full.. Honestly I felt like I was treated worse than the homeless.. I listened to how other people were being admitted and they were not asked the same questions I was asked.. You really need to do a full investigation on what goes on at the ER of this hospital.. Its an ER, and it wasn't crowded, they weren't busy, but the staff were just lazily walking through their day like people's lives aren't on the line.. I suppose that if you pack the hospital full of vagrants, then the staff doesn't really have to do much of anything, because they are aware that nobody is going to care about the vagrants and nobody is going to investigate how the vagrants are treated, then the staff can still get paid and do as little work as possible.. It really does make some sense and its a reasonable explanation.. People just don't want to do any work these days.. Its a good thing I actually didn't have to be admitted into the hospital because I really have some reservations about the way I think I would be treated.. If you do not do a full investigation, then maybe someone in the media will do it for you.. Maybe some people need to be fired because they prefer serving the homeless and their drug addictions instead of normal hard-working citizens of the community.

I was treated so well by the emergency team. I was there for about 6 hours on a gurney,
but treated and medicated appropriately and kindly, and I thank them. (They saw my situation for what it was, and I’m glad I didn’t take up a room.)They were also very attentive to my nutrition and eating and water, and that often goes overlooked in hospitals I feel. I also lost my phone at LAX and they called me a nice Uber to get back to the airport and home to Dallas.

Friend called in advance of my visit and was assured they had the expertise to assist me. I went, they took unrelated tests, sat me in a chair for hours, then terminated my visit with the physicians assistant telling me there's nothing she can do to help. She was direct, matter of fact, and seemed annoyed I was still waiting. I didn't complain and left. I was almost home when they called to say they didn't want me to feel neglected and asked me to drive back. Not for help, but because they forgot to tell me to wait for paperwork. I gave a polite "No thank you". I'm sick, growing worse and need to get help.
