What a blessing this establishment is!!!
They didn't turn away my parrot when all others did, and I can't rave about their kindness and diligence enough!! They saved my 47 year old boy! They were so empathetic,, I went in crying with no hope and exited with hope answers and peace.
Dr Speer is so passionate about his profession that you KNOW you've found the right place for your bird for sure!

i been coming to Medical center for birds for over 30 years and they are spot on wonderful staff i recently had a bird pass away at home i brought him in to have an necropsy and to have him cremated and i received the art work n the mail see photos from Janet who worked with me when i brought him she was so kind as is the whole staff

My 20-year-old green cheek conure developed cancer (a cloacal carcinoma) and I brought her into this medical center for treatment. She received two months of chemo (2 doses every three weeks) and in the third month, she went in for surgery. Two months later, she has no remergence of cancerous or cystic tissue. It cost me 3000$ to get her full treatment and, despite the stress for me and both of my birds, every dollar was worth it. My green cheek may now live happily to 30 years old, because of Dr Baden and Dr Speer. Dr Baden administered chemo to her and both doctors partook in her surgery. My tiny, snuggly, sassy dragon-bird means so much to me and I'm grateful beyond words to the doctors here who saved her. Every day counts.

[Update] Four years later, my green cheek is still in remission. The site of her previous tumor is healthy; she has no excessive scarring and no abnormal tissue. I still think about how, without Dr. Baden and Speer, my bird would not be with me today. They saved her life and gave her the chance to feel years more of love, play, and comfort. I'm so grateful she's had the chance to nap in my lap for many years more. My little old bird wouldn't be here and happy without her doctors. Thank you so much!

I can see why people come from all over to this wonderful place. I felt welcomed from start to finish. Major kudos to the front desk for demonstrating great customer service and care. The ladies in the front knew I came from SF and offered me coffee and even called me to come inside a little bit earlier than my appt. My lil Johnny came in for a possible infection and the vet and nurse who did the examination was so kind,gentle and very through.I didn't feel like I was getting cheated or forced to do tests on my bird. I was happy that he got to go home with medicine and we will back a week from now. And yes the price for the visit is a bit of a sticker shock. However i'll determine by the next visit if the price is reasonable but in the meantime I feel that this facility is the best in the bay area and worth the drive.

We've been taking our chickens here and nowhere else for over 6 years. The first time we visited with an ill chicken, I was worried that our chicken wouldn't be seen as an equal patient, and would be seen merely as livestock. It ended up being the complete opposite. Each one of our chickens has always been treated like any other pet, with love, respect and compassion by everyone: from Gail and the other ladies working reception, to the vet techs, to the doctors. We've brought our hens in for various reasons: treatment for illness, compassionate send-offs over the rainbow bridge, and necropsies. Each time, we've always felt confident that our hens were getting the best possible care.

We have been going here for a few months and we can say we looooove it here. Best avian vets in California. The drive is a little far but worth it for my feathered babies! We have gone everywhere and we weren’t able to find a vet we felt that cared enough for our kiddos. Thankfully we did and we love Dr. Baden she knowledgeable and cares very much about the babies.

We have been taking our bird here for over 10 years and they are the BEST. Would not trust anyone else ! Dr. Speer is amazing , the entire staff is wonderful -with a special shout-out to Brandy and Melody who are fantastic with the birds and their very worried parents ( me) . Totally worth the drive from SF . Tests are not cheap but if you acquired a bird you should have known going in that it’s a big, longterm responsibility- you owe them the best care possible !

The level of service here is unparalleled.
I found an abandoned green cheek over 3 years ago. Recently she became very I'll.
After doing some research online, I knew MCB was the place to take her. From the beginning of her stay, to the end of her stay, my bird received the best care possible. She was in ICU over the Thanksgiving holiday. Eventhough they were closed, someone went in to check on her. I was sent updates via text, including pictures. I was called with regular updates also. Someone even drew a portrait of her. I wholeheartedly believe they saved my bird's life and I'm eternally grateful. Thank you to the doctors, the techs and anyone else who was involved in her care. I hope she never needs care again, but if she does, I know where to bring her.
