Messed up my dogs surgery and gas lighted my girlfriend into giving them more money.

My dog got bit , and we brought her here for stitches as it seemed the most affordable urgent care option. It was around 1000$ for the cleaning , antibiotics , pain meds, and stitches. We come back 2 weeks later per the vets recommendation. They remove the stitches , but say they need to add staples because the wound wasn’t healed fully. We come back 10 days after that to get the staples out. Fast forward a few weeks , and the wound is inflamed, infected, and looks worse than ever. I am out of town at this point. My girlfriend brings the dog back in to get checked , and the staff convinced her that it was our fault for waiting 25 days to take the staples out. Clearly bad time keeping on their end. they counted from our first visit day to the staple removal day, completely glossing over the fact that my dog had stitches first that they removed before the staples. They gaslighted her into believing we had messed up. The real cause of the infection was suture material left inside my dog ! The staff made her pay an additional 500$ for re examination and antibiotics. After a week or two of compressing the still open wound , we finally took a piece of suture out that was causing my pups wound to not be able to heal. I would strongly recommend AGAINST midnight sun animal hospital to anyone who cares about their pets or their wallets. Horrible practice to make us pay for their mistakes. They played on my girlfriends emotions, and convinced her that we messed up. In reality they screwed up the surgery and wouldn’t fix their mistake without more $$.

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with them yesterday. They asked me to come in at 10am but then took other patients because mine wasn't an emergency (my dog was having an allergic reaction but the hives were less visible at that point - I had no experience with it before so was frightened). Totally fine, I understand. But we were in the waiting room and exam room for over 2 hours, during which my dog threw up twice because he was nauseated shaking his head from the inflammation and still no medication was given to him even though we had come to the conclusion that he had allergies about an hour into being there (ear swab done and no infection). The vet initially told me that otc benedryl was a cheaper option than what they had but they had a faster-acting injection so I agreed to that. But after we had waited almost another hour in the exam room, during which my dog kept shaking his head from the itchyness and threw up again (vet had come back and said they would also give him an anti-nausea injection and that they would get me the estimated price first - a process which seemed to be taking half an hour each time they did it) I decided we could just head out, get the benedryl and that would be faster. I went to let them know and pay for my visit, not upset at all and figuring they would understand because they must have been swamped, my dog's situation was not an emergency, and we had been there for over 2 hrs. But the reason I am giving such a low review is because the receptionist was extremely rude and catty towards me when I turned down the hundreds of dollars of unnecessary injections so that I could run to the store and get my dog medication ASAP.

When you get the level of care me & mine got, price is worth the service. I tragically lost my baby boy & these angels gave us all the time, space & reassurance they could offer. The private cremation service was one of the best choices I’ve made in life. I got so much more than his ashes back. I got an actual paw impression. Nose prints. A vial of hair. I can cry, hug & kiss each, for the rest of the time I have left. So grateful for every piece of him they sent back. Dr. Melissa will always be in my heart. Thank you folks, from the bottom of my broken heart.

We have big dogs and as they age their health changes. At Midnight Sun they have a vet on staff who specializes in allergies. This issue has been affecting my Malamute for some time, but no other vet, either our previous vet or Pet Emergency were able to address it. They just prescribed antibiotics, which did eliminate the infections but the condition kept reoccurring.
When I called Midnight Sun, they were able to get me in within days, not weeks and the cost was a third of what the emergency places charge. Dr. Bough educated me on allergies and options. She is amazing. I learned so much and her enthusiasm was so refreshing!
I am so happy we found the best place for our 4 aging pets' health care. Sincerely, Mrs. Murphy

This canine hospital is the top choice for dog owners in rural areas who commute to Anchorage by boat or plane. When my work schedule prevented me from traveling, this facility took in my two dogs. Their expedited service includes fetching the dog from the airport and delivering it to the hospital's entrance, a convenience that's uncommon elsewhere. Despite some complaints about wait times, it's crucial to consider that this is also an emergency hospital with limited staff. The team prioritizes urgent cases, and I'm always ready to relinquish my spot for a dog in more critical condition. Last year, they referred me to two other exceptional hospitals, Pet Emergency Treatment on E. Dowling Rd. and VCA Bering Sea Animal Hospital on E 74th Ave. Anchorage because they were fully booked. I've visited both of these places with my dog, and they were equally exceptional; it's clear that they all have a great working relationship with one another, and I'm grateful to have access to all these resources for my dog. My furry friend recently underwent a dental cleaning there, and after 11 days, she's recovering splendidly. When I went to pick her up, I observed the staff tenderly tending to her, and she didn't exhibit any distress from being left there. This experience only strengthened my trust in this hospital, as dogs are like humans in remembering places where they've had bad experiences.

Thank you for the surgery for Angel, she had a hernia and her intestines were moving out their place. Thank you doctor Todd, thank you a lot.

For anybody who was desperate as me, the ER is way too expensive, and yes, you need all the money, there is no payment plans (sadly). Please be aware of these things before any surgery. And if you want to leave your pet at the ER for them to take care of it for the night is going to be $1000 per night. It is expensive

This is Angel now 3 months after the surgery. She is a healthy cat.

Yesterday, my mother and I were at your clinic and made the difficult decision to keep our sweet Bella from further suffering and let her go.

Although we are grieving so heavily, we keep reflecting on how wonderful and compassionate each member of your staff was.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you and the existence of your clinic. It was a safe place to begin mourning.

We never got the names of those that helped us, but carry their energy and the space they held for us <3

Last week I posted about their new policy requiring their clients to pre-pay $94. Since then I called to cancel the appointment which was within their guidelines, the receptionist Christy told me that I could use the credit to purchase my dogs meds and was also told I would receive a call when the meds were ready. That was last week.
Today, I stopped in to get meds because I never received the call. Guess what happens next…. Yep…I’m ask to pay for the meds because the notes Christy made were unclear. Please excuse me, but what?!? I call to speak to the manager, Mackenzie who refused to credit or refund my money, she was rude, spoke over me and wouldn’t let me finish speaking.
So, if you are going to Midnight Sun Vet Clinic (1)know that they do not care about you or your pet as a client. They want your money. (2) they are unprofessional and do not read client files to educated themselves on prior notes. (3) your $94 dollars may get you a vet tech in the waiting room as your scheduked appointment.Midnight Sun Animal Hospital + Emergency Care is completely unprofessional and don’t deserve another dollar from you or me.

I told them to keep that $94 apparently they needed it more than I do. Whoever owns this clinic needs a lesson on how to treat the humans attached to the pets.
