Everyone in the emergency department was wonderful, patient, thorough and I felt they genuinely cared. Then I was admitted. The nurse with terrible bedside manner has ruined any positive opinions I had for Monroe Hospital. This is a scary and traumatic situation for me. I never thought I’d have to go through it alone. With zero compassion or sympathy for what I’m experiencing, she made my husband leave. Wasn’t nice about st all. It may be policy, but it was a total surprise to me and now realizing I’m alone in this, and also I’ve been assigned a nurse who really seems to be more of a robot than a human being, broke me down. Never asked how my pain was, if I’ was comfortable… just seemed to want to exit the room. Nothing she did was explained to me, even put medication in my iv and walked out of the room. I buzzed the tech to ask if I was allowed to use the restroom (which is 100% relevant to my being here) I got a look that made me feel stupid for asking and she proceeded to leave. I’m on an iv, how do I get there when I’m attached?! I then ask if she can find out when I’m due for pain meds, she said yes and left. My pain is so intense I can’t stand up straight and she didn’t see that I made it ok before leaving. An hour later and I feel forgotten. Sitting in the dark, sobbing because I’d rather be anywhere than here. The ER had me calm, reduced my pain, and reduced my really high blood pressure. After being admitted, I’ve got 3 blown veins, from 3 different people, my pain is worse with an added migraine, my blood pressure is back to a ridiculous high, uncontrollable tears, my anxiety is through the roof and I am simply in shock at “care” or lack there of. If surgery is necessary, it won’t be done at Monroe and I will not return.

I’d like to add that I did express my concerns about the bedside manner of my nurse to a different nurse and my concerns were dismissed as “… it’s probably just your anxiety with your high pain levels”.

Had an appendectomy done by Dr. Palanca. The entire process was smooth and easy. Great staff all around. Felt genuinely cared for, I think going to Monroe Hospital instead of the larger IU health let staff be more tentative and accommodating. Shout out to the night nurses Frank and Helen! They were very kind and helpful.

Bunch of unhelpful rays of sunshine manning the phones in the emergency department. ER doc prescribed me anti-fungal cream and told me to use it twice a day for two weeks but gave me two tiny tubes that lasted me two days.

My nurse Sydney is awesome and caring. You don't get a lot of nurses that care anymore. My doctor idk remember his name but he's good too. I wish my momma would've came here or to Bloomington instead of Bedford hospital. 😥

I was there last year almost septic they treated me with kindness and I could tell most of the people there are Christians which I also Loved. I had a really bad kidney infection (I waited to long to go to the Dr.) I didn't want to be away from my husband and family, and I was scared but they reassured me.

Staying at Monroe Hospital was one of the worst experiences of my life. The ER staff was fantastic but it was nothing but downhill from there. Their staff asked me/my husband almost a dozen times what medication I take daily because they wrote it on a post-it note. I was NOT given my daily medication for days and going through withdrawals. One of the doctors accused me of being an addict because I was having withdrawals. As a mental health professional I understand the process of stopping medication "cold turkey" and the dangers that come with it. Half of the nurses were great while the other half were less than subpar. I had one of my medical devices going off for half an hour and it took three calls to see what was going on. My ER doctor knew exactly what needed to happen for my best care and it was ignored by the rest of the doctors the four days I was there. DO NOT GO THERE!

From the front desk, to registration all the way to the back, I felt as welcome as family. The mammography services offered here with Jennifer and Dora are professional and kind. I had a follow-up ultrasound with the ever-wonderul Holly in US and that went great, too. Everyone I encountered at Monroe seemed happy I was there. They even walled me out. What customer service. 💚🌻⚘️🪻

We seldom use emergency rooms but my last experience a few yrs back I went to Monroe and was impressed with the care, bedside manner, professionalism & prompt care received so last night when my son had a massive migraine I took him there & just like my own experience they were amazing. A male nurse cared for him & was very in depth responding to any concerns. Fast forward to this am. In a freak instance of horrific luck my same son had a tooth break off. After numerous calls to local dentists and no appt available anywhere as bad as I hate to use an ER for dental emergencies, he was writhing in pain begging for relief so off we went to Monroe. Again absolutely perfect experience.
