I was traveling to Mt Shasta with a veterinary emergency so I called this hospital. The receptionist was extremely helpful and reassured me with her knowledge and guidance. I thoroughly appreciated this because I was a wreck! As it turned out I was able to see the vet in my home town before I went to Mt Shasta.

Having worked at a large Emergency Veterinary Hospital, I know how hard staff and Vets work. These folks are dedicated, caring and are doing all they can with the country wide, Vet shortage.

Was kept very well informed of all steps that needed to be taken for Tilly’s appointment. Before and aftercare instructions were vey clear and easy to understand. Appreciated the phone call from the Vet about her condition after surgery.

This review is way overdue. Last summer, my family and I were traveling with our mini dachshund Bella. We noticed on our drive up she wasn’t doing too hot and once we got to our hotel, I called for an appointment. The front desk person was extremely attentive and got us in immediately. Turned out, my little girl (15) years old today, needed some teeth pulled. They were extremely busy and weren’t sure if they’d be able to get us in while we were in town. I’d like to also point out, we knew getting her teeth pulled was inevitable however, other vets and a teaching veterinarian school quoted us over $3,000 for 5 teeth. Mt. Shasta Animal Hospital not only fit us in, but gave us a fair and honest price. Everything was communicated with transparency, honesty, kindness, up front and to the point. They didn’t take advantage of us being out of towners, they didn’t skyrocket their prices. They genuinely wanted to help my dog and my family. They took the best care of her and handled her like she was one of her own. The gal at the front desk was a dachshund lover and she ensured me our girl would be taken care of. The empathy, commitment and service to their customers is stellar and I cannot recommend this animal hospital enough. When these vets took their Oath, they meant it and they take excellent care of peoples fur babies. I wish I lived closer so they could care for my dog all the time. I just received a Happy Birthday Bella email and knew I had to write this review. Thank you so much.

The Vet might be OK but the receptionist sucks! A semi feral kitten was dumped at my remote home and I have been taming it for several months was injured badly and couldn’t walk or move. I called and the receptionist said that the vet was with a patient and she would check and see if they could see the cat and call back. She also said that I could call back the next day which I retold of the severity of the injury Three hours later no call and it’s getting later and I call back only to have my call dropped by their voicemail. If this is the type of care and compassion an animal hospital gives, I hope people will rethink using them.

I have had very positive experiences with the services at Mt Shasta Animal Hospital. I had some very specific requests with my dog recently pertaining to her vaccinations. The vet did a good job listening and then went on to call me ahead of time to review the protocol. My dog had a good experience as they gave her just one vaccine at a time with precautionary measures. I am grateful to have such trust worthy services close by.

I took my little 14 year old Bichon, Mia, in to have her eyes checked yesterday, and I told the vet, Dr. Raquel Schenone, that Mia had been coughing. She listened to her heart and found a grade 4 heart murmur. She then strongly suggested that I have them do a chest xray to rule out anything serious. They were scheduled for another surgery and told me that I could take Mia home, with some calming meds, and come back at 2pm. When I did, they took Mia right in and had me wait in the exam room. About 20 minutes later Dr. Schenone came in with some bad news that I wasn't expecting. My little dog was in late stage congestive heart failure. Two other vets had heard her heart murmur in the past , and not one of them told me that a chest xray was needed. Had the heart failure been diagnosed earlier, with the medication that is now available, she would have had a better prognosis. They let me stay in the exam room with her for several hours while she was given oxygen. They were so kind to both me and my little dog. They checked on us every 20 minutes. The assistants brought Mia food and water. They started her treatment right away and sent us home with meds and instructions. I spent the afternoon there and never once did they make me feel that I should go home. They let me stay with my frightened little dog for the entire time. They treated us with such respect and kindness that I will be forever grateful. I know that in the past, Mt. Shasta Animal Hospital has received some bad reviews, but my experience with every single person that I came in contact with there was just wonderful. And very special thanks and heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Schenone. Because of her being proactive and knowledgeable , I may now have more time with Mia than I would have had.
