Atlas the Trucker Dog

As a trucker dog, riding all over the country in a big rig, I've been to dog parks, rest areas and country fields in 35 states. I did not get fleas until I came to the Apalachicola National Forest. In days, I was covered in hot spots and miserable. Thankfully, the kind folks at Oakwood Animal Hospital got me right in and BAM! those fleas are gone! I'm pleased to report Oakwood is now the primary vet clinic for me, Atlas the Trucker Dog! Check out my new book for kids about my first OTR trip abd how I became a trucker dog.

I won't take my dog anywhere else. The doctors and techs truly care about each and every pet that comes through the door. They offer a wide variety of services, can usually get us in very quickly with or without an appointment, and won't force services, treatments, or medicines on us that we don't really need. They have always answered all of my questions fully, and even explained to me my dog's x-rays with a comparison to a healthy set versus my dog's set. I love Oakwood, it's the best vet you could go to.

I feel that we were not offered anything that could of saved her life and I feel that the dr knew she wasn’t going to make it from his initial diagnosis but still we were sent home with nothing more then children’s antibiotics and a rabies vaccine and having paid over $700 bill I think more could have been done or offered such as overnight fluids and food this just felt like take our money and there was no caring involved we said we don’t have enough money but we will apply for the care credit to cover the visit which we did I wish I wouldn’t of listened to my friend and maybe just went back to north monroe instead
You should never make your practice an about quick turn out and the fast buck. And then when the doctor called to give the results of the $200 cbc work which told us nothing end I said she’s on her way to dying he implied well let me know if I can do anything else for you like what I come and pay to have her put down? And you max out the credit we had to apply for and now we have another bill that we really couldn’t afford in the first place no no thank you. Do better if I was you and you were looking for a place to take your loved ones I would keep looking especially if they are sick. Well maybe if you have the money and no worries you can get the care they need but do you want to take that chance?

I wish I could give them 10 stars honestly because they go above and beyond (and even went across town for paperwork for my cat!) at Oakwood. My cat has been a patient there for a few years now and we’ve always had a wonderful experience. Not only are they kind and professional, but they’re thorough, competent, and extremely caring. Both the receptionist and vet tech were great today, and Dr. Hurley was so incredible. On top of the typical check up, she really went the extra mile for Lilith to make sure we were all set for domestic and international travel. She is very understanding and has great recommendations. Bring your pets to Oakwood —you won’t regret it!

I bring my baby Pluto in for his scheduled appointments when needed and we have never had an issue. The prices seem to be in line with average pricing in the area and the vet is always open about what is needed and what is suggested so we do not stress about getting everything done in one visit. Each time we have gone, the vet has been very informative and answered every question asked.

A great team and Pluto is always treated with care. I don't worry when they take him in the back and feel comfortable with him being out of my sight. We now have my boyfriend's family dog and are happy she is getting great care from them as well!

Oakwood was randomly the vet I chose when I first moved to Tally, years ago. I moved away and came back this fall and knew I'd go back to Oakwood without a doubt, no matter if it was the closest vet or not.
During my most recent visit, we were seen quickly and well taken care of.

Right when I left Tallahassee years ago, my dog got sick and he went to other vets. They called Oakwood for records and the Dr at Oakwood called me to check in many times over the next few months even though we were no longer active patients. They offered to explain results if I didn't understand what was going on. It was so comforting.

Took my cat for the first time to this vet and the entire visit went so smooth. I never leave reviews, but it’s hard not to when everyone was SO friendly and helpful. Best vet experience I’ve had so far and would definitely recommend!!
