Took my dog to this practice as bf's dog was already established there and have been using a cats-only practice in Monterey for my other babies. Did the new patient "puppy package" and subsequently had our dog neutered there. On the whole, I wasn't impressed. VERY pricey, staff had to take dog back MULTIPLE times because they kept *forgetting* to do things, and communication with the actual vet was good but not great. Home care instructions following neuter also seemed quite excessive (recommended 3 whole weeks in the cone) compared to what I found from other practices and our dog's actual healing.

Really great experience! I'm new to Pacific Grove and needed to establish with a local vet. A great initial call with Janelle made it easy to feel comfortable about the office and set-up an appointment. The team there were all great, making for a very wonderful first visit (my dog was super excited and happy about all the positive attention). Happy to be new clients! UPDATE March 2024:
Truly exceptional service and care at Pacific Grove Animal Hospital.
I’ve been there for a couple of annual wellness visits for my dog, and found the team there very thoughtful, careful, and thorough. They were willing to listen to me, carefully examine my dog, and patiently answer my questions and explain her health. Roberta the vet tech is very helpful and engaging, and Dr. Dau was very present and focused during the exam. Today was a visit for dental cleaning and x-rays—all went well. They understood that leaving your dog for a treatment involving anesthesia raises some questions, and Edwin was quite willing to proactively tell me about the procedure, taking time to answer all my questions. The cleaning was very detailed with complete set of x-rays. Edwin called the next day to check how my dog was doing. The front desk team is always very helpful, informative, friendly and efficient from appointment, to check-in, to final billing and payment—Amber is always patient with questions and procedures. The reset of the team in the treatment areas is always very kind and caring with my dog.

It’s truly unfortunate that this clinic is taking credit for another hospitals high star reviews. Dr Cohen and Dr Sherrill practice at Peninsula Animal Hospital, NOT Pacific grove animal hospital. I have taken my pets to see Dr Cohen for many years, and there are reviews on here for them, that PG animal hospital is taking credit for. Peninsula Animal hospital used to be at this location, but are now in the crossroads in Carmel. This should be remedied. It’s confusing for clients.

Vet office staff unable to give a price estimate to get a 1 year old 45lbs goldendoodle dog spayed in normal health and with all vaccinations up to date. Tell me to schedule appointment with the vet to discuss this. I know they have a price list somewhere in their office and know the ball park numbers what they charge for surgery, anesthesia, labs and standard recovery package. It’s not an uncommon procedure

I have a high level of confidence in Dr. Kaplan-Dau as both a provider of excellent care as well as her ability as a manager to hire and train quality staff- two variables that are often lacking in other pet hospitals.

Dr. Lau explained everything that no other vet did. Like cats can have heart worms, we treated our precious Otto today. Also she said Bravecto does not work that well on cats. Dogs, yes but not cats. We got a years supply for less than what we've paid for Bravecto. Bravecto made our cats hair fall out and was super harsh on his skin. We highly recommend you take your pets to Dr. Lau, she us the best and is so gentle and caring with our Otto. Thank you Dr. Lau.

The entire staff at this facility is amazing. They have been loving and caring and have gone above and beyond to treat both our very nervous rescue dog and our cat. Our dog is challenging, but never once did Dr. Kaplan-Dau or her staff make us feel bad nor did they treat him like he was as challenging as he may have been. When we had a life or death scare with our cat, all the of the staff communicated with our family consistently and made an amazing effort to hold our hands through the entire process. They never questioned nor complained when I would call to check in or if I had any questions. Dr. Kaplan-Dau came out to our car to speak with us and go over next steps which was so comforting during this scary event. I cannot be more thankful for the skill, care, kindness, and transparency at his animal hospital.

We trust Dr. Kaplan Dau with the care of our dogs because she is compassionate both to the dogs and humans. I know she will give us all the information we need and help us figure out a timeline and future expenses. I know that Dr. Kaplan Dau has my dogs’ health and comfort in mind and isn’t suggesting unnecessary services. Her staff is professional, kind and efficient. 10 out of 10. Would recommend.
