My dog was attacked on a Sunday, so my normal vet was closed. I wanted to get her checked out ASAP. They were open. The waiting room and exam room were spotless. The receptionist moved us to an exam room quickly, so we had a comfortable place to wait to see the tech and vet. I expected that we would need a bit of a wait since it is an emergency room and there were other cars in the parking lot. All the staff was caring, supportive of my concern about my dog, they handled that I was shaken very well. They were very clear setting expectations for wait times since, like I said, it's an emergency room and they have other pets to attend to. My dog was treated, we were sent home with clear care instructions and meds. I have been to emergency vets before and I was expecting a high bill, but it was about half of what I was expecting.

Everyone was caring, friendly, and communicated very clearly. I would return (but hopefully never need to).

Making an oncology appointment for your cat is not something any pet owner wishes for, and I looked toward our appointment here with a lot of anxiety.

But the moment my kitty Bruiser and I went into Pet Specialists of Austin, everyone was super welcoming. The front desk was wonderful and attentive even while managing phone calls and other clients.

We first met with Melissa, who was so detailed in her initial assessment and run through of Bruiser's notes. She was thorough, friendly, and did a great job of laying out what to expect from our consult appointment.

Then we met with Dr. Sabina Sheppard, and oh my gosh. I don't think I've ever met a medical professional (for animals or humans!) so informative, kind, and warm. She explained Bruiser's potential diagnoses and what to expect from each, writing out notes on a white board in the room as she went to help explain everything. When she asked if I had any questions, I got teary eyed, not from anxiety or sadness, but from gratitude.

I felt so knowledgeable leaving that appointment, with such a solid understanding of potential outcomes and next steps. (She also gave us some great tips for pilling our finicky cat, and they totally worked!) We were even able to schedule a biopsy for the next day.

At his biopsy appointment, once again, everyone was so friendly at both drop-off and pick up. The tech who talked us through the estimate for Bruiser's biopsy and each line item was a ray of sunshine, and she helped identify two line items that we ended up not needing, which I SO appreciated.

His biopsy went great, communication was timely and thorough, and once again, everyone was extremely warm. I didn't get the feeling that Bruiser was just one of many pets that day -- everyone seemed to genuinely care about him as his own kitty! (They even gave him the nickname Snow Leopard, which is maybe the cutest thing I've ever experienced at a vet.)

The emails they send you before and after visits are also SUPER thorough, with all the details laid out in a clear and easy to understand way. (This is also super helpful for pet insurance claims!)

If you like me are facing the scary potential of a pet with cancer, I can't recommend Pet Specialists of Austin enough. Dr. Sheppard in particular is the kind of human you know is special the moment you meet her. Thank you to everyone on the team for taking such wonderful care of Bruiser and taking the anxiety out of such an inherently stressful experience!

I have now experienced this Emergency Vet clinic for my dog and now a senior cat, and have been very satisfied with my experience both times. I called first, checked wait time, and both times was able to get in quickly, efficiently, and receive the urgent, after hours veterinary care my pets needed.

The facility is impressive, clean, and staff was compassionate, attentive and professional. This time, after meeting with the doctor, I was confident in the thorough medical advice that was provided. And, when presented with the acknowledged astronomical (as is typical) ER prices, I was given the choice to edit, but agreed all were medically necessary in order to ultimately help my cat (who is feeling better, now, thankfully).

So, bottom line? I'll be back here if/when the time comes -- of course in the wee hours, on the weekend or over a holiday -- and hope the intelligent and caring "Dr. Handsome," happens to be on the schedule -- gotta acknowledge a bright spot in an otherwise gloomy and exhausting situation!

Grateful for the top notch help my pets have received here! Thanks to all!!

I needed emergency care for my dog and found Pet Specialists of Austin on-line. The positive reviews and their close location to my home were the reason I selected them. I was not disappointed. Their care team, hospital environment, diagnosis, treatment and follow up were all first rate. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

My dog, Pike, had sustained a substantial laceration to the back of her foot and needed emergency surgery. The staff was so kind, professional, and caring which made remaing calm (on the outside) a little more easy. The whole experience was made better because I felt confident in the care my baby was getting! Hope to never have to have another emergency visit (looking at you, Pike <.<) but should we ever need it again, we know where to go <3

In a difficult time, the staff at Pet Specialists were a true beacon of hope and caring. My senior dog had a blockage and was critically ill. They were gentle with me and walked me through all the options. I am happy to say my baby boy is alive and well and healthy as ever!

Everything was super overcharged and I was made to feel like I needed to spend over $7000 for my cat to survive. I couldn’t afford that and they suggested a credit card company that could approve me on the spot. It just felt very money focused instead of pet focused. They did their assessment and gave him pain meds. I ended up making the very difficult choice to chance it and take him home then to my own vet the next day. My own vet determined he was stable, sent us home with 2 day medication treatment and a prescription diet. It’s been a week and he’s been fine and we will check him again in a month. I have 2 stars because it was quick to get him in and seen so if it was life or death at least it’s easy to be seen.
