I went to Pets First for my Yorkie when I lived in Uptown and now that I’m living in Pilsen, I still come all the way up towards boystown for this Vet. They are professional, kind, empathetic and gentle with my fur baby! I recently went in Phoebes dental and they were so kind! They were running behind schedule and offered me a discount for the inconvenience (I truly didn’t even mind but that just goes to show how up and above they go!)

For the past 15 years, Dr Mitchell has been the veterinarian of my choice for my cats. His support team is terrific, and always helpful. They are gentle with their patients. And Dr Mitchell had nice things to say about my "fracteous" cat Prince Hamlet even after the latter tried to scratch him to ribons.

Pets First was my first choice in vets when I was looking for our new/first puppy Duncan. And man am I so happy we chose them! Before I explain how wonderful they are, their office is always clean, professional, caring, helpful and our little guy is always happy to see his friends at the office! We unfortunately had a tough start with our puppy Duncan (a French bulldog). I noticed some dizzy spells he was having and immediately took him to the vet. Our vet at the time Dr. Matt took immediate action and knew exactly what the issue was. Our boy was anemic and needed a blood transfusion fast! Pets First sent us to the best hospital that gave our little guy the best treatment and worked together to help get our boy back to a healthy place. This was something that lasted a full year and although it was so exhausting and emotional and scary Pets First and Doctors Matt and our current vet Dr. Mitchell really helped us through it all. We owe Pets First so much for saving our little guy. Happy to say our little guy is now 3 and just so healthy and happy! Pets First always shows up for us and our dog. They follow up whenever we have a question or if there is ever something they want to check up on they make sure to contact us and check in. Really wonderful vet office! I couldn't be more happy with my choice to make Pets First our main vet office. And all the Vets and staff there are just an amazing team! Highly recommend!!

We have been going to Pets First for 1.5 years for our dog (German Shepard, Australian Shepard, and Great Pyrenees mix). We have been seen for regular check-ups, anxiety and a skin rash.

What I love:
- Appointments are easy to schedule and there is great availability
- Medication refills are quick and can be made the same day
- I live down the block so I can quickly walk there
- The vets seem to know availability of other services in the area (e.g., behavioral specialists nearby)
- I love that the clinic is owned by the vets and not part of a big PE group
- I genuinely feel the vets and techs are knowledgeable and looking to do what is best for the animal and patient

Areas to improve / differentiate:
- My dog gets nervous about going to the vet, our previous vet told us to drop by in our walk and get a treat in the office to make the vet a fun place to go. I would love to have them encourage this/ offer pet treats on the sidewalk
- My dog needed bloodwork, and despite being medicated he was still anxious. The vet and techs asked me to leave the room to make the collection easier. I left the room and only found out when submitting the documents to insurance that my dog was muzzled. I am fine with the muzzling (I want everyone to feel safe), but wish they would have told me when I checked out.

I’ve been with Pet’s First since they opened their doors. Dr. C is the most compassionate vet I have ever encountered. She’s been with me through brain tumors, cushing’s disease, and severe allergies. I love her holistic approach to medicine. Dr. Mitchell is also amazing. The staff are helpful, friendly and attentive. The prices for a Chicago veterinarian are reasonable and they will talk to you honestly about costs. I would never take my dog anywhere else.

We’ve been taking our dogs here for over 7 years and everyone at Pets First has consistently been great! We have mostly seen Dr. Mitchell but also a few different vet techs, and everyone is compassionate and kind. Whenever I’ve had a small question or needed to refill medication, it’s been an easy and straightforward process, and they always get back to me quickly whether over email or phone.

I have been to a lot of different vets over the course of my dog Noodle’s life as we’ve moved across the country (and as her needs have changed). Pets First is the best of all.

Both Dr. C and Dr. Mitchell have seen her and taken amazing care of her. The techs and front desk staff are warm and clearly love all the animals. They patiently answer all my questions (I’m a very worried dog parent) and respond thoughtfully to emails and calls. She’s never been healthier, and I’ve never felt more comfortable with her care. Their prices and approach to treatment are transparent and clear. I love Pets First!
