Five Star review **As a new pet parent, I knew something was wrong but had no idea what it could be. Being limited on funds (and knowledge) I reached out to Doctor Raymond. Not only did he agree to see our girl the same day that we called but he kept the cost minimal while not compromising care. Within a few days, my girl was back to her normal self. I would highly recommend Placerville Animal Surgery Center to all my family and friends. Thank you Dr. Raymond!!

Got my frenchie/french bulldog spayed there yesterday and they also did a small umbilical hernia for a small extra fee while she was under and everything went smoothly. I love the prices, the staff was friendly, etc. can't recommend them enough.

My dog had two masses that were precancerous. They accommodated surgery quickly, with amazing care and at an incredible price. The surgery
sutures were very clean and healed quickly. An hour drive for me to get here, but well worth it!

I've had two rescue dogs get surgery here and it's always been a positive experience. It's the quickest way to get affordable spay/neuters! I drive from Sacramento and it's really worth it.

This is the best veterinarian clinic. Dr. Raymond is amazing and the staff is great. I took my miniature poodle here for a second opinion on a mass that was growing on his eyelid. His original vet that he had been going to for 9 years said he needed an extensive surgery that would cost several thousand dollars. Dr. Raymond did a non invasive laser removal of the mass for less than $300. My dog had a great recovery and all is going good. I have changed vets to Dr. Raymond because of the excellent care and affordable prices. Thanks to all!

I’ve seen nothing but good reviews online but I wanted to give my update after taking my dog there to get spayed. I have mixed feelings over my experience here. It is an affordable place but if complications arise while your pet is having a procedure, they do not have the means to completely save your pets life here and I was completely unaware with that as this is my first time raising a dog myself. Unfortunately we were unlucky with our experience. My dog was spayed here and when we came to pick up our dog, about 10 minutes after they told us she was ready to go home she was not waking up. Everyone thought she was just having a hard time waking up from the sedation so they asked us to come back. I waited an hour in the parking lot and hadn’t received a call from them yet. I walked back in where they pulled my husband and I aside and had let us know that she was internally bleeding which is why she wasn’t waking up earlier. She had to be reopened and taken back to surgery to try and stop the bleeding but the vet told us she wasn’t going to make it and he didn’t have the means to save her life there and if we transported her somewhere else she would pass away in our car. He let me know they were going to close her up but that she was still internally bleeding from somewhere and she was going to pass there. I asked to see her and he was hesitant to let me see my dog. I am afraid that if I hadn’t walked back into the building when I did then he would have let her pass before we got a chance to see her. I asked him how often this happens and he let me know this happens every couple months and that the staff try to learn from their experiences and try to do better the next time. I got to see my dog after her second surgery and she was in bad shape which was extremely traumatizing for my husband and I to see. Everything happened so fast and we were not expecting something like this to happen to our healthy one year old dog. We waited to see if she would stabilize or get worse and pass. Our girl is strong and she ended up holding on and a little alert after a couple hours. We ended up transferring her to an animal hospital where she had to have a third surgery and blood transfusion to save her life. Our girl ended up making it through but it was an absolute terrifying experience and I would hate for anyone else and their pet to have to go through the same thing. The vet at the animal hospital we took her too let us know that they had just treated a cat that had a similar experience from the same place as well. We were also left with thousands of dollars in vet bills after this ordeal which sucks because we came here for the low cost. I understand complications can happen but I also feel like they were rushing to finish and get thru all the animals where they may or may not have missed this the first time. I would like to say that the staff at Placerville Animal Surgery Center were easy to work with and very friendly and someone called me the following day to ask how our dog was doing which I greatly appreciate but I wouldn’t feel comfortable bringing another one of my pets here ever again based off of our personal experience.

If you’re looking for a team that truly cares about your animal from start to finish this is the place. Took my mini goldendoodle here to be neutered after getting quoted over $1,000 at our vet. From check in the team here was extremely compassionate and so knowledgeable. They also have a text line that I was able to send pictures during the post op recovery at home to make sure he was healing correctly. Overall amazing service and the best staff. Thank you Placerville Animal Surgery Center for providing amazing service and great prices for our fur babies!

Five stars for Dr. Raymond and staff!

That old time country doctor work ethic is increasingly rare these days. So much so that We drive from Sacramento to Placerville for the high quality of care provided by Placerville Animal Surgery Center.

Recently Dr. Raymond performed surgery on our 9+ year old Chihuahua for her breast cancer; Operation successful!

She seems more energetic already, and she still has a stitch or two in! We still need to go in for our follow up and have those removed, but this five star review is not premature.

Above even the world class care Dr. Raymond provides, we value his honesty.

He is not going to upsell you to make money, and if his opinion is that a procedure is not ideal for that animal - taking into consideration procedural rates of success, age, health and other variables - he will advise against that procedure.
