I was bringing my senior dog, Diego, here for almost the last 2 years until he passed a few months ago. I couldn't be happier with care Dr. Rodriguez and his staff provided us. I appreciated his honesty, sensitivity, and thoughtful approach. I never felt like I was being upsold (like at one of my previous vets). I'm looking to adopt another dog, and I will be bringing them to see Dr. Rodriguez and his staff without hesitation.

I have to Thank Portola Plaza Vet hospital for their very kind service to us. I did not have a regular Vet when it came time needed to put our sweet 14yr old cat to sleep. After other Vets quoted me very high prices and not liking the fact that our cat wasn’t a patient of theirs. Portola took us, no demands to meet, were kind, understanding and showed us great compassion. They arranged to get us in when we needed, on short notice and their services were very affordable.
Thank you for making something so difficult easier

I am so excited to tell everyone how fantastic my veterinarian is! I take my baby dog to see Doctor Rodriguez and he is very passionate about what he does and that’s very hard to find. A doctor who cares very much for every single animal he sees. I highly recommend this facility, Doctor Rodriguez and his team! Thank you ?

Dr. Rodriguez and office staffs are very friendly, have excellent service, very professional and they take care of our 2 maltipoos. Dr. Rodriguez is a great vet and spend time discussing our dogs needs. He always see to it that our 2 dogs gets the best treatment and stays in good health. That's why we don't mind driving for 2 hrs to their office because we feel comfortable and confident knowing that our 2 dogs are in best hands.

Run the other way -worse Vet I have ever known
He is careless and “””””greedy “””” over charge from visit to supplement / meds just to name a few

My dog just had a physical less than two months ago with this vet. He failed to really exam her
Failed to look at her mouth teeth and gums
Been taking her to him for the last 4 years since she was a puppy. How is this even possible

I took my dog to a dental specialist few days ago for teeth cleaning without anesthesia only to find out within 5 mins , that she got five loose teeth

How is this even possible when she supposed had a physical and check up with Dr Rodriguez

I am behind upset with him for negligence and Lack of care

My baby had to go through major surgery to extract 7 tooth today

This Dr license must be taken away
All he cares about is $$$$$ not your pet

Stay away. Stay away
If I have to rate. I would give him negative zero

After much research and calling several vet practices , I travelled for 2.5 hours to have a laparoscopic gastropexy and neutering procedure for my Great Pyrenees pup with Dr. Rodriguez and I’m glad I did. I was impressed with the services at the clinic. Met with Dr. Rodriguez before the procedure and he explained everything in detail , what to expect and he was very transparent about the costs which were extremely reasonable compared to other quotes I got from other vets in Los Angeles area. The procedure went well and my pup recovered fast with no complications. Thank you Dr. Rodriguez and Portola Plaza Veterinary staff for providing excellent care!

We had an excellent experience at this vet when we brought in our one year old pup in to be spayed. Prior to the initial consult, the office let us know what paperwork they needed from her vet. At the appointment, the vet informed us of the various options; we opted for the Laparoscopic Ovariectomy. The morning of the procedure, they took her back immediately and called us when she was ready to go home a few hours later. After 10 days of an e-collar or onesie around the house, she was good as new, ready to return to her active lifestyle. We highly recommend Dr. Rodriguez and his excellent staff at Portola Plaza Veterinary Hospital.

Anyone who loves their pet should run the other way from this vet. Brought my cat in because she wasn’t eating. The vet said they were gonna keep her overnight to run some test. The next morning the vet called to tell us my cat had past the night before around 9:00 pm. I said so she was alone when she past? He said no I was with her and kept her comfortable. I said if you were with her why didn’t you call us immediately when she past or was passing he said he didn’t want to disturb our night sleep. What kind of doctor does this and then lies about it? And then we got charged $800.00. Worse vet ever
