I can't recommend River's Edge Veterinary Hospital enough for their compassionate care during an incredibly difficult time when we had to say goodbye to our two senior dogs Ruby and Jake. They offered home euthanasia, which made all the difference to our fur babies and to us. Ruby and Jake were able to pass peacefully at home, surrounded by our love, instead of a sterile clinic environment.

The staff was incredibly understanding and allowed us all the time we needed to grieve. They even went above and beyond by offering paw prints and keepsakes for our pets, even though they had already worked a long day and it was late into the evening. This small gesture meant the world to us during such a difficult time.

It was important for both our dogs' peaceful passing and my own well-being to have them pass in a loving environment. River's Edge Veterinary Hospital made this possible, and their gentle presence during such a difficult time was invaluable. If you are facing the loss of a pet, I highly recommend them. They helped our fur babies pass with dignity and gave us the space to grieve and cherish their memory

My German Shepherd, Red, had some sort painful attack and was in distress. A type of mass was found when an X-ray was done and Dr. Jones at River's Edge performed an ultrasound to find out what was going on. Thankfully, it was his spleen which was able to be removed. It was twisted. They performed the surgery same day and Red is better than ever. He is recovering nicely and I'm so very thankful to the entire staff at River's Edge for taking such wonderful care of him. I feel very blessed I have more time with my boy. Everyone was very kind, understanding, patient, and it did not cost as much as we expected. Bonus! Thank you again.

Excellent service! River's Edge is part of my extended family. During the pandemic my Boxer, Jax began to have some mobility issues. I took him to my vet in Murray, KY and the doctor basically didn't show any concern. A dog mom knows. I immediately decided to look for a second opinion and came across River's Edge on WPSD. I saw that they offered special laser treatments and I knew there was a chance to help Jax. River's Edge gave me another 2 years with Jax that I wouldn't have gotten if I had stayed with my previous vet. He was diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy and eventually lost function in his hind legs. Through it all I had the support of Dr. Alex and then Dr. Karla. They always let me know what was to come and eventually I made the decision to let Jax go. Upon his passing, I received a heart felt card with signatures from the staff, Jax's paw print and some trimmings of his Fawn colored hair. They also arranged his cremation so I didn't have to worry about it. I was so grateful for their true acts of kindness. The best thing about River's Edge was my dog actually liked them. He absolutely hated going to my previous vet. I now have another Boxer named Binx and he loves the Rivers Edge staff just as much. Yes, I still live in Murray, KY and yes, I drive all the way to Metropolis, IL to take him to the vet. I wouldn't have it any other way and neither would Binx. I highly recommend them, not only for the family friendly atmosphere, but also for services offered and the wellness plan they provide. Thanks River's Edge!

Always had an excellent experience here, I drive an hour each way just to bring my fur babies here. All of the doctors and staff here are superb and gave me an amazing and comfortable experience when I had a late night emergency with my kitties. today April 16th 2023 my dog was hit by a car you guys wouldn’t take him due to him not being a client there and sent me to Carbondale vet well upon arrival he passed away. You guys gotta stop doing that to people especially if we live here in metropolis. Don’t plan on even bothering calling this place if your dog is in a emergency situation I’m being serious all they will say is we can’t do anything since he’s not a client of ours

The Dr.s and staff here are most importantly very compassionate, kind, & truly caring for the pets. Dr. Jones explained my concerns for Chub Chub thoughly and discussed a wellness plan for Chub Chub. They are great with C.C. when he's crabby & they always calm him right down. All the staff are super friendly... They also have state of the art dental exams, which are very important for our feline family members.
