Rivertown Veterinary Emergency - After Hours Animal Clinic - Columbus, Georgia

I'm filing a public grievance regarding Rivertown Veterinary Emergency in Columbus, Georgia. It's imperative that pet owners consider other options for veterinary care. During a critical moment when my dog was in dire need of help, the clinic's response was deeply concerning. Rather than providing immediate assistance, they insisted on muzzling her, citing her size as a concern, despite her gentle nature. This delay in treatment has left me deeply disturbed by the lack of compassion and urgency displayed under emergency conditions.

I am very thankful for the veterinary and the stuff here! I had to bring my dog peanut here to have her ear looked at and surgery done. The staff and the vet doctor was extremely patient with me and my baby peanut. Thank you guys for the help and for treating peanut like you would your own fur baby! Feeling blessed for this office. Otherwise I would have had to take a 45 min trip to auburn and deal with a 5 to 6 hour wait! You guys are awesome

Every interaction with the staff was positive and helpful. They were very kind and informative on the phone and in person. All charges were reviewed for consent prior to any tests/interventions. I was very impressed with Dr. Kim Kees: She was knowledgeable, professional and kind to both my dog Jake and me. She explained her findings in clear language, verbally and in writing, and told me what to be aware of in the following 12-24 hours that would necessitate a higher level of care.
I did end up taking Jake to the Auburn Emergency Vet the following day where he was treated for a bowel obstruction that didn’t show up on the original X-rays. Thanks to the labs and meds from Rivertown they were able to make a quick diagnosis.

Incredibly kind staff. My first time experience here. I recently had taken in a stray kitty and had her for around a week. I had her spayed at a clinic on a Friday morning and on Sunday night she was in cardiac distress. This lovely team of ladies jumped into action when I arrived and helped my kitty die peacefully without suffering. Not the ending any of us want but I am so thankful they were there to help her.

Sunday night 7/21/24 my brother called and his boxer was having a seizure. It was so bad he was biting his tongue blood running everywhere. I called Rivertown asking them to stabilize him for the drive to Auburn as it takes a hour. My brother came home from work and found him like that. They refused to see him or help me. Money wasn't the object here I would have paid whatever they charged as he was not coming out of the seizure at all. The girl hung up on me twice each time telling me to take him to Auburn which was my intention. He just made it to Auburn and the vet wasn't expecting him to make it through the night. They heavily sedated him and still is today trying to find the cause of the seizure. So as a emergency vet is your experience limited to upset stomach's? I rescue dogs and seen some pretty bad cases but you by far have them all beat.

Staff was exceptionally kind and quick to assess/diagnose my sweet girl Belle. The vet Dr. Kees was extremely thorough and she kept me updated on all the tests results as they came in. I highly recommend this clinic if your pet has any urgent needs after hours.

I called even on a weekend to have my dog that is over 13 and has a hard time walking and we know it is time to euthanize and no need for exam cause of his age and health problems and was still told that we need to do a exam on him to the tune of $200 plus the cost of medicine. So sad that your business wants to take advantage of people during their time of grieving already knowing they are fixing to lose their loved one.

I’m from Alaska, and I have two husky mixes and a pit mix. Recently, I moved to Columbus and my girl, Stevie Nicks, was definitely not acting herself. She was lethargic, not eating, and obviously not doing well.
I got up in the late of night, called ahead, and the staff was incredible with my baby girl. They kept her overnight, talked over estimates and treatment plans, and she was doing great the next day! The vet, Dr.Brown, told me that if Stevie didn’t go to the bathroom the next day, to call her back. Stevie made a full recovery and is back to her happy ways! From the incredibly helpful front staff and manager that checked in with me, to the techs and the wonderful doctors, I cannot begin to express my gratitude to the staff of this clinic. Thank you for all your hard work, especially during this pandemic, and your continued love, kindness, and empathy towards all patients. Much love!
