My experience at Riverview Vet Hospital in Durango was nothing more than a wonderful experience. The staff was very professional, kind and friendly. I would recommend this Vet Hospital to anyone who has an emergency or just needs a great Pet Hospital. Surely they would take care of your pet like their own. I’m from Phoenix, Arizona and was so happy to have found this hospital to take care of my injured pet. Don’t hesitate to give them a call for any pet issues.

The staff at the animal hospital saved my best friend’s life on October 3, 2024.

We were from out of town and passing through Durango on our way from Oregon back to Pittsburgh, PA. As we were walking through town after hiking, Rosco started drinking water from a bowl outside of one of the gift shops. He started drinking way too fast but by the time we pulled him away from the bowl it was too late. A couple minutes later he started showing symptoms of bloat. He was trying to vomit and nothing was coming out. He then got in a hunched over posture and looked “bloated”. We immediately drove over to Riverview Animal Hospital as it seemed like the highest ranked vet in the area off of my quick google search. I am so thankful we chose to come here. They were QUICK. Once was expressed our concern for his stomach flipping, they took him back for an X-ray IMMEDIATELY!! I knew the news was bad when Dr. Amy came out a few moments later and told us we needed the surgery now or that he would not make it. Not only were they great with Rosco but they were great with us as well. By the time we got that news we were emotionally pretty unwell. The surgery took a few hours and Rosco came out alive and well. Nearly 3 weeks later I’m writing this review. Rosco is 100% back to his normal energy filled self. I have nothing but gratitude for everyone here!! Dr. Amy is incredible and you can tell she is compassionate about what she does.

This was my pets first visit after a friend recommended the care at Riverview. It was suggested that she come in for a first time visit to set up care so that if she had an emergency she’d be able to get in as Durango can be a challenge for an emergency due to limited number of vets on call. We were not greeted right away but after a few minutes a tech came to ask if we’d been helped and got us into a room for her scheduled visit. Brea the Tech was professional and personable. Dr. Shannon was great with our cat and provided guidance for continued vaccinations and care for her as she moved out of kitten phase. They took her to the back for her chip, blood draw and vax and she came back relaxed and well cared for. Overall the experience was a good one. Glad to know she is in good hands.

My dog Gus was having digestive problems and I was able to take him in within hours on the holiday weekend. Every staff member was amazing, helpful, calm and knowledgeable. I appreciate every step taken to diagnose and treat him. His problem has not been completely resolved but hoping for the best today. I would only say the 1 star loss is due to the high cost of everything. So wish there could be a little better financial impact required in emergencies as it is tough enough to handle. Gus was ready to pay the bill after his treatment!
