We were 12 hours from home when our French bulldog started showing signs of a urinary tract infection - on a Saturday. I called all over Santa Fe and was referred to Roadrunner. Understandably, they had an estimated wait of over 4 hours. I found Route 66 online, called expecting similar wait times. While they couldn’t give an exact wait time and based on the concerned demeanor of the receptionist, I took her advice and started the hour drive. The facility was extremely clean and did not smell like a vet clinic at all. The receptionist was just as sweet and helpful in person as she was on the phone. We waited approx 40 min - no big deal as there were extreme cases ahead of us. Our vet tech Sam was very kind and kept us in the loop as far as next steps. Dr Ortiz was wonderful and thorough. Her exam was better than any we get back home! Testing was performed and we left in about 3 1/2 hours, with meds in hand. Cost was extremely reasonable for urgent care service. I highly recommend Route 66 and the caring staff! Thank you for helping our traveling pup feel better!

I really love that you can check in and wait at home. This option is convenient for my low patience cat. Once it was my turn to come in I thought the service was timely and great. I felt like the vet took great care in the needs of my cat. The only downside is that the wait to see a vet was almost 20 hours from check in. Luckily my cat didn't have anything too serious and waiting 20 hours was ok.
I’d advise others to be aware that the wait can be long depending on the number of critical cases. Please make sure you check in online and wait at home if your case is not critical.

I appreciate everything this ER did for my dog. Ultimately, I had to decline some of the services because they were simply outside of my budget, but they did help me by offering an outpatient treatment plan. My dog got into a large amount of vitamins and was poisoned. I am going to follow up with her regular vet and see how it goes. I just wanted to write a review because the staff did a great job and were very sweet and compassionate.

We had an emergency at 1am on Christmas night. The staff at Route 66 were incredibly compassionate, quick to intake and diagnose my uncles dog so he could make an informed decision from an out of state location. With the ultrasound diagnosis, we found that he had the Silent Killer, Hemangiosarcoma, with symptoms that came on only a few hours earlier. Ultimately we had to let the pup go and take him out of his misery. The staff were so professional, compassionate and calm with us through the entire process. We got to be with him as he crossed the rainbow bridge. The tech took fur clippings, paw and nose prints for us, and gently arranged for his private cremation. A very sad day/ night, but glad for the Route 66 staff that was on hand to help us through the tragedy. Also, I was very impressed with the very nice facilities and triage room (we got to see behind the curtain). Thank you Route 66 for your service.

We were moving cross country, unfortunately our 10 ywar old border collie /Auasie consumed a sock, has a blockage.She crossed the rainbow bridge . She’s been in our lives a long time since our children we little girls. It hurt beyond words , but hurt even more knowing she was in pain. The staff were so , patient , empathetic, compassionate and supportive. I believe the name was Axl or Alex was so helpful and attentive. Thank you Route 66 veterinary staff at one of the hardest moment I’ve had to endure losing a pet is unbearable but the people cut the edge off with heart and understanding

Our 14 year old chihuahua had a really concerning cough, it got worse over night and this morning we just did not want to wait it out with her age. We contacted Route 66 and brought our dog Newbie in immediately. The staff were so sweet and compassionate and the Veterinarian was very empathetic and straight forward. My husband I absolutely loved the environment. After our dog was examined we were give our options and left with some medication that has already made a big difference. I've already started recommending this place to friends. Keep up the great work! ♥️

Do not bring your pets here. They killed my cat from negligence.
I'm only giving 1 star because there is not a 0 star option while leaving others a warning:
I brought my 3 yr old cat into them on a weekend for what we learned was a blocked urethra. They assured us he would be fine, and kept him for 2 and half days. He still had bloody urine when released, and was extremely lethargic. Over the next 2 days, his condition devolved to complete lethargy and I repeatedly called this place, expressing concern only to be assured his sedation was still wearing off. TWO DAYS LATER.
On day 3 I took him to my family vet (which was closed the morning my cat originally was sick) where within the hour I was told he was going into sepsis, had liver damage, and somehow air had been introduced into his abdomen. I was also told that cats are usually kept a minimum of 5 days when they have a blocked urethra, although I do recognize every clinic varies. Unfortunately, this lead to his death three days later.
So again I say, do not bring these people your cat. I was repeatedly assured my cat would be fine, paid ~$2000 for a 2 day visit, and my cat left the clinic in a far worse state then when I brought him. These people shouldn't be allowed to treat animals if they are going to let a relatively curable illness kill an otherwise healthy, 3 year old cat.
