We came to see Dr Polidoro in November 2023, who was highly recommended when our 4 year old pittie needed a TPLO. From the moment we made the appointment with Melissa and walked through the doors of San Francisco Animal Hospital on the day of surgery everything was seamless. Dr Polidoro is the best! He took the time to explain the process of the surgery- and Jazmin seemed to like him. Melissa called before they started surgery as promised knowing how stressed I was. Dr Polidoro called when done as promised explaining how it went not rushing me off the phone, answering all my questions. That first week after surgery was a little rough, but Dr Polidoro and the staff were so understanding and patient with me, and always responding to my calls quite quickly. Oddly enough our 2 year old lab, Shelby, ended up needing a TPLO in both legs in April and October 2024. Of course we went back to Dr Polidoro to take care of her. We knew we were going to get the same excellent care as before. We have not been disappointed. On the night of Shelby’s second surgery, Camille (surgery tech), sent us a video of Shelby, that really touched us, and helped calm my nerves about her being at the hospital overnight. We are grateful to the wonderful care given to our girls in the last year. To an amazing staff just to mention a few Melissa, Naomi, Zoe, Camille and foremost Dr Polidoro for all you have done. We are forever thankful. Jeanie, Beth, Jazmin & Shelby

My cat Matcha needed emergency surgery, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The entire staff was wonderful, but I want to give special thanks to Dr. Naomi and Dr. Melissa Robertson, that was incredibly patient with me, answering all of my questions and providing excellent care throughout Matcha’s recovery, especially during the complex post-op process. Her attention to detail and compassion made a stressful situation much easier.

Huge thanks to the SF Animal Center! My cat's ear hematoma surgery was a success. They were so caring throughout everything.
My cat had ear hematoma surgery at the SF Animal Center and it went great! ? Just know, some swelling is normal during recovery. SF Animal Unfortunately in its follow-up a person from the front desk is a person with a very bad attitude. It made us feel quite uncomfortable and his music was more important than my pet.

I brought my dog in last night with an acute bleeding from her left nostril. They had a nurse come out to take a vet basic history, seem to be fixed she had a foxtail up her nose when we kept saying not possible, refused to receive a cardiologist report from 4 days prior and just took her to the back to get viral. She comes back saying she's fine, 3-4 hour wait, don't leave. She just looked and sounded very annoyed with zero compassion. She took another dog to administer a shot and no eye contact to the parent or any positive tone to the dog. I just kept feeling something is not right. We asked again and said there is a 3-4 hour wait. Basically take it out leave it. I decided to leave and asked for the bill. Because a doctor never saw her, it's free. So basically they didn't triage her.

I drove to SAGE. Yes there was someone in the lobby waiting but the team saw she was actually critical and brought her to the back. The nurse told the other couple there is someone more critical, please wait. I wish this ED'S nurse did that. Within 10 minutes the emergency vet was trying to rule out the bleed. Turns out she was bleeding internally as her platelet count was so low they couldn't detect it. They said she was also anemia. By 12:30am we made the decision to let her go. If we were still at this place, she might have continued to bleed, gotten worst and still not be seen yet.

Not sure how this place can be an ED or what their triage proces. It was clear my dog was never seen by a vet and they don't even care when I went to the front a second time. No calling in the back to communicate my concern. I'm just grateful I left and no need to ever go back.

I am very grateful for the wonderful care we received for our puppy this past week. I took him in on Christmas Eve after an afternoon of vomiting and he was diagnosed with Parvo (surprising since he was fully vaccinated). We received prompt attention and great care from all of the nurses and doctors who cared for him there (nurse Flo, Dr. Ang, and Dr. Truong, as well as the front desk staff). He made a great turnaround and recovery and we brought him home 24 hours later. He is still doing great several days later. We would certainly take him to SFAMC for future needs.

I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for the surgical staff and their remarkable expertise. A special mention goes to Melissa: her incredible knowledge and detailed explanation of what to expect, the procedures involved, and the necessary follow-up care were delivered with genuine empathy. Thank you for consistently making us feel valued and well-cared for throughout this experience.

This is a long overdue post - I wouldn’t trust the care of our three furry companions with anyone else but the care team at SF AMC!

Dr. Bar is our cats’ primary doctor and her expertise and strong instincts saved our sweet 12 year old cat from a sudden sepsis infection and subsequent small cell lymphoma diagnosis. Dr. Wong, Dr, Maretzki and the entire emergency team played critical roles in saving her too, and Dr. Chu has also provided great urgent care. All of the vet techs provide so much love and care to our animals.

Needless to say, I have so much faith in the quality of care my pets receive here, and I find that the customer service and way I am treated as an owner is far superior to when the SPCA owned this facility.
