Fellow review readers. I would like to give a warm review of sierra animal hospital. The team is excellent with customer service. They showed my dog the utmost respect. Thank you all, will be returning.

Only vet in town that would see a daytime emergency for our 12-y/o lab who had abdominal distention; was turned away from two other vets too busy to see what turned out to be life threatening.

Dr. Bone was professional and upfront. After blood work and x-rays, our dog was found to have splenic tumor. The office staff cancelled all afternoon appointments for the following day to perform the surgery; without the surgery our dog would have had to be put down that day or soonthereafter. Dr. Bone removed his spleen, drained fluid from ascites, and found he had an enlarged heart.

Prior to the surgery, they allowed me to spend time with him; I spent an hour in his kennel. The compassion from the entire staff is immesurable. No matter how many years left our dog has, SVAH saved his life (and an essential organ of my family.) God Bless you all.

The prices are ridiculous. They also throw medication at you thinking you're willing to spend $600 on a simple hotspot on your first visit. My second visit was, my dogs stool had a different color to it and I was concerned that there was blood in it. I was happy to pay for blood results and sending the stool out to the lab
BUT the Vet didn't explain to me WHY he wanted to give me 5 different medications for my dog and got disgusted with me for denying the medication BEFORE I knew what was going on. He was very adamant that my dog ate something that was " foreign body" but I'm with my dog 24/7 and he has never been the type to chew on things, he hardly even plays with his toys my dog is the laziest dog you'll ever meet and he's always been that way. The blood work ended up being phenomenal especially for his age. the Vet tried giving him a stool hardener after I specified I have pumpkin at home to help harden it up. Somehow I ended up paying for the stool hardener and I did intentionally pay for the steroids because it will help with my dogs hotspots as well but I definitely got swooned into buying the stool hardener. Thank goodness I said no to the other medications because it would have easily been $600. But all and all I ended up paying $490. I just didn't like how the Vet threw meds at me before knowing what the heck was going on with my dog.

Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. They're happy to inform about different options for pet care and advise about what preventative care can be done without being pushy about making a decision right away.

We had to have our most special pup put to sleep. The staff was so compassionate and supportive through the whole ordeal. Even the Dr shed tears as our boy passed away. I cannot say enough good about this team of people.

Wonderful and welcoming staff! Very affordable. They listened to my concerns and even though my cat went in with an issue he could get over himself they still offered medication to help him along. They offered options and to check the price difference between them for me which I thought was great. They were able to get me in next day after I called. I normally call for Jackson’s first but I’ll be reaching out to Sierra animal hospital for all future visits!
